Gangubai Kathiawadi Racing Towards Rs. 100 Crores Net After Another Big Weekend
Mumbai, March 6 - Alia Bhatt-fronted "Gangubai Kathiawadi" is racing towards Rs. 100 crores net after putting strong numbers in the second weekend at the domestic box office.
The Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed has been unstoppable ever since it debuted in theaters on February 25. After scoring Rs. 68.93 crores in the first week, the biographical drama remains rock-solid over the second weekend for an estimated Rs. 23.51 crores.
On the second Friday, the film dropped just 7.22% for 5.01 crores before taking a massive jump of 63.77% on Saturday for Rs. 8.20 crores, followed by an estimated Rs. 10.30 crores on the 2nd Sunday, jumping 25%.
The weekend to weekend drop is just 39% which is a remarkable hold for a woman-led film. "Gangubai Kathiwadi", by the end of 2nd Wednesday, is expected to enter Rs. 100 crores net club, which will make it only the 5th film for Alia to do so.
"Gangubai Kathiawadi" is eyeing a domestic box office run to finish between Rs. 120-130 crores. It could end up as the second-biggest film for Alia at the domestic box office.
Produced by Bhansali Productions and Pen India Limited, the movie also stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, and Seema Pahwa playing pivotal roles with Ajay Devgn featuring in an extended cameo appearance.
