Robert Pattinson's 'The Batman' Tops Weekend At The Indian Box Office
Mumbai, March 6 - After "Spider-Man: No Way Home" created a run riot, yet another Hollywood superhero movie in the form of "The Batman" is ruling the Indian box office.
The Robert Pattinson-starrer DC superhero movie topped the 3-day opening weekend (Fri-Sun) in India, grossing 28.10 crores ($3.7 million), followed by Alia Bhatt-fronted "Gangubai Kathiawadi" as number 2 with an estimated Rs. 27.74 crores.
Being a superhero movie and a popular franchise in India, "The Batman" performed very well at the Indian box office, as expected. It took the opening of Rs. 8.61 crores on Friday, followed by Rs. 9.89 crores on Saturday and Rs. 9.90 crores on Sunday for all languages.
English has been the best performing version of "The Batman" in India with a 3-day total net collection standing at Rs. 19.9 crores, followed by Hindi with Rs. 1.67 crores, Tamil with Rs. 52 lakhs, and Telugu with Rs. 11 lakhs (these are estimated figures).##
"The Batman", meanwhile, scored $124.2 million internationally and $134 million domestically in its opening weekend for the worldwide cume of $258.2 million. The United Kingdom is leading the international chart with $18.1 million, followed by Mexico with $12.1 million, and Australia at 3 with $9.3 million. India total came at number 10 in the international chart of the film.
