Ranbir Kapoor's 'Shamshera' Dialogue Writer Piyush Mishra Opens Up On Film's Box Office Failure

Mumbai, March 20 - Ranbir Kapoor-fronted period action drama film Shamshera was one of the most anticipated movies of 2022, however, it bombed at the box office and turned out to be the biggest disappointment for Bollywood. ## Directed by Karan Malhotra, Shamshera met with poor reviews from critics which didn't help the movie to take a big opening and then, the poor reception from audiences as well made sure it go nowhere at the box office. The movie got criticism for poor writing and direction which led to its major disappointment. ## Now, the dialogue writer of the film, Piyush Mishra opened up about its failure at the box office. In a candid chat with Hindustan Times, the veteran actor and writer said that "I also didn't understand why it didn’t work. People said it didn’t work due to the script". ## "I think we have already seen fantastic stunts so many times. Now you will have to compete with them, the revolution in the South. Baahubali was not merely CGI, it also had a very solid script. To compete with a Baahubali, you will have to write an equally brilliant script. Pushpa also had a very good script, it wasn't made just like that. Adding CGI is only beneficial when you have a solid script, CGI without a script is of no use", he added.## Though there wasn't too much criticism for dialogues, Mishra said that it's the screenplay that decides the quality of dialogues in a film. "I derive my inspiration only from the screenplay. Dialogues depend on the screenplay. Box Office: Shamshera Ends First Week On A Disappointing Note

Mumbai, July 29 - Yet another Yash Raj Films production bites the dust as Ranbir Kapoor-fronted biggie Shamshera, also starring Sanjay Dutt, and Vaani Kapoor, succumbed in the first week itself without putting up even a fight at the box office. ## Directed by Karan Malhotra, "Shamshera" was YRF's best bet among the five films in its current slot. The initial response to the movie was positive, as far as advance booking is concerned, but it couldn't sustain that momentum and ended up the first week with approx. 41 crores net, which is disastrous, to say the least. The worldwide gross collection is a little over 52 crores marks.## The period action drama film, which is made on a budget of around 150 crores, got largely affected by the reviews from critics, who slammed the movie left, right, and center as if, it was the worst movie ever made in Bollywood. The word of mouth was mixed, but that was not going to save the film from the wrath of self-claimed critics. ## "Shamshera" has nothing left in its show from hereon as it is another Bollywood movie post-pandemic to ended up becoming a one-week wonder. Ranbir Kapoor's 'Shamshera' Opening Day Box Office Prediction

Mumbai, July 21 - Ranbir Kapoor returns to the big screen after more than 4 years with Yash Raj Films' Shamshera. The Karan Malhotra-directed period action drama film will be hitting worldwide theaters tomorrow (July 22) in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, also in IMAX. ## Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani's biographical comedy-drama "Sanju", which was a huge blockbuster at the box office, so the expectations from his upcoming movie are high and should be. The advance booking of the same was opened on July 17 as there was a good buzz for the movie. ## The initial advance booking response for "Shamshera" was decent and at the same time, was better than most of this year's Bollywood movies. However, after that initial promise, the advance booking hasn't picked up as per the wish of the makers as the pre-sales collection of the movie is around 3.50 crores gross only. It might still reach 5 crores before the first show starts. ## The trade experts have been projecting the film to open around 20 crores, which is not looking to happen at this point in time. Taking the advance booking into the account, the movie is tracking to open around 11-12 crores net. However, looking at the subject of the movie which is promising to be a mass entertainer, which often leads to a good spot booking, the movie has a fair chance to take the opening of 15-16 crores. ## Ranbir's last film, "Sanju" opened to a huge 34+ crores, but the scenario was different at that time. This time around, the opening of 15+ crores for "Shamshera" will be considered good and if word of mouth is positive, then the opening weekend has a shot for 55+ crores. The trailer and other promos have left a positive impact on the audiences and this should lead to good footfalls in cinemas. ## In 2022, the biggest opening for a Bollywood movie belongs to Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, and Tabu's "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2", which opened to 14.11 crores net in May. "Shamshera" is clearly looking to challenge this record and if this happens, then YRF has a winner in its hands.
