Filmmaker Puri Jagannadh Shows Big Heart Again After Dismal Box Office Performance of 'Liger'

Hyderabad, September 1 - Director Puri Jagannadh's long-awaited film Liger, starring Vijay Deverakonda, has proved to be a costly affair for the entire team as he turned out to be a massive disappointment at the box office. ## The sports action drama film was expected to bring a lot of money to the producers and distributors, but things didn't go as per the makers' wish as the distributors will face, at least, a 70% loss from the total investment of around 90 crores worldwide. It is reported that the distributors are in big shock as they invested a lot of money in the hope that it will give them the best return, which is not going to happen. ## However, in a gloomy time for the distributors, director Puri Jagannadh is once again coming to their rescue and taking full responsibility for the film's failure. As per the industry insiders, Puri Jagannadh will compensate Liger distributors and buyers and will meet them in the coming days. ## This is a very nice gesture by the filmmaker who is a well-respected person in the Telugu film industry. He has rescued his distributors in the past as well and now, he is going to do the same. Puri Jagannadh has delivered some of the biggest Telugu blockbusters, and he will be hoping to repeat the same with his next film "JGM", which is also with VD. ## "Liger", produced by Dharma Productions and Puri Connects, has so far grossed approx. 55 crores worldwide, even after taking the biggest opening for VD's career. Box Office: Blockbuster Karthikeya 2 Tops 100 Crores Gross Worldwide

Hyderabad, August 31 - Actor Nikhil Siddhartha's mystery action-adventure film Karthikeya 2 has entered the coveted 100 crores gross club at the worldwide box office with today's collection, becomes only the 4th Telugu movie of 2022 to achieve the milestone after Bheemla Nayan, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, and RRR. ## Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, "Karthikeya 2" has had trouble getting released in theaters but it overcame all the challenges to become one of the biggest blockbusters in Telugu cinema. For a medium-range Telugu movie, "Karthikeya 2" is only the second film of all time in Tollywood cinema to reach the 100 crores mark after Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's "Geetha Govindam". ## However, unlike "Geetha Govindam", K2 has had simultaneous Hindi release with the Telugu version and it has hugely benefitted from the Hindi version with a gross collection of approx. 30 crores, in addition to approx. 58 crores in the Telugu version at the domestic box office. Superstar Pawan Kalyan's 'Jalsa' Re-Release Creates All-Time Record

Hyderabad, August 31 - Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan's all-time blockbuster Jalsa has created an all-time record ahead of its special screening to celebrate the actor's 51st birthday on September 2. ## The movie will be screened on September 1 and 2 worldwide on over 500 shows, which is reportedly the highest number of special shows for any movie in the history of Indian cinema. Such has been the craze for the movie that almost all the shows have been sold out in Telugu states while the same kind of response is being observed overseas as well. ## Pawan Kalyan is argubaly one of the biggest superstar Telugu cinema has ever produced. Vijay Deverakonda's 'Liger' Fails Badly To Do Justice To The Massive Hype

Mumbai, August 30 - Vijay Deverakonda had a chance to include himself in the elite league of Telugu stars and could have extended Tollywood's dominance at the box office with his sports action drama, Liger, but things turned out otherwise. ## The Puri Jagannadh-directed film was one of the most hyped Indian films of 2022 and it could have made big even with the mixed reception, but Alas!... it opened to one of the poorest responses in 2022 from audiences and critics which dismissed its chance to score big on the opening day itself. ## "Liger" took the biggest opening for Vijay Deverakonda's film, but from the second day onwards, the movie crashed badly and couldn't grow further, even on Sunday. The movie had a rare chance to hold on to the lower level on weekdays, but even that didn't happen as it scored approx. 1.40 crores on Monday for all languages and officially becomes one of the biggest disasters of the year. ## Vijay Deverakonda promoted the film aggressively across the country and it looked like the movie will become a big blockbuster. The advance booking was also excellent but what happened next is there for everyone to see. It has so far grossed approx. 50 crores and will be wrapped up under 70 crores worldwide. ## The performance of Vijay Deverakonda got praise but it was Jagannadh's writing and direction that led the entire efforts of the team to go in vain. Superstar Prabhas' Hit Film 'Billa' To Re-Release In Theaters On His Birthday

Hyderabad, August 30 - Superstar Prabhas' one of the biggest hits Billa is getting ready to re-release in theaters. According to the latest development, the gangster film will have its remastered 4K special shows on October 23 to celebrate the 43rd birthday of the "Baahubali" star. ## Directed by Meher Ramesh, "Billa" is the remake of the 1978 Hindi film "Don" starring Amitabh Bachchan. It t is the second remake of Don in Telugu after Yugandhar (1979). Prabhas played a dual role in the movie alongside Krishnam Raju, Anushka Shetty, Hansika Motwani, Namitha, Rahman, and Kelly Dorjee. ## "Billa" was produced by Gopi Krishna Movies and was a box office hit with an AP/TG share collection of approx. 15 crores. SSMB28: Mahesh Babu To Commence The Shooting Of Trivikram's Film From September 8

Hyderabad, August 30 - Superstar Mahesh Babu reunites with blockbuster director Trivikram Srinivas for his next film, tentatively titled SSMB28. The movie has Pooja Hegde in the female lead role and this marks her second film with Babu after Maharshi. ## "SSMB28" has been in the pre-production work for quite some time now and was supposed to kickstart the filming in August 2022. However, due to the pause of Telugu films to discuss various issues, the movie couldn't go on the floors as scheduled.## According to the latest reports, the makers are finally ready to take the movie on the ground and start shooting on September 8, 2022. Mahesh Babu will reportedly be a part of the first 25-day schedule of an action sequence in Ramoji Film City. Pooja Hegde will not be a part of the first schedule and will join the team in either October or November. ## It is said that Mahesh Babu has asked Trivikram to complete the shoot of the film as soon as possible as he has his next film with SS Rajamouli which is being planned to start filming early next year. "SSMB28", produced by Haarika & Hassine Creations, is likely to be wrapped up by December this year or January 2023. ## Thaman S is on board to compose the music while National-Award-winning editor Navin Nooli is also a part of the film. Box Office: Karthikeya 2 Becomes The 10th Highest-Grossing South Indian Film In Hindi

Mumbai, August 29 - Telugu blockbuster Karthikeya 2 continues to mint money at the box office and is racing towards the 100 crores mark at the box office. In the dubbed Hindi version, the Nikhil Siddharth-starrer film has become the 10th biggest South Indian grosser of all time. ## Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the mystical action adventure film witnessed a solid hold over the third weekend and scored 4.42 crores net. The total net collection of the movie in the Hindi version has now reached approx. 25 crores, which makes it the 10th biggest South Indian film in the dubbed/direct Hindi version. ## "Karthikeya 2" has overtaken R Madhavan's "Rocketry: The Nambi Effect", which was a Hindi-Tamil bilingual movie, to become the 10th biggest film. SS Rajamouli's epic blockbuster "Baahubali 2" is the highest-grossing film in Hindi with 510 crores net, followed by "KGF: Chapter 2" with 436 crores and "RRR" with approx. 270 crores net. ## Produced by Abhishek Agarwal Arts and People Media Factory, "Karthikeya 2" will cross the 100 crores mark at the worldwide box office in the next couple of days. Box Office: Liger First Saturday Early Estimates (All Languages)

Mumbai, August 27 - Vijay Deverakonda's sports action drama Liger collets in the similar range as Friday on its first Saturday at the domestic box office, scoring an estimated 7.50-8.50 crores net for all languages. The Puri Jagannadh could have dropped further but got the benefit of tomorrow being a Sunday. The Hindi version once again collects more than the Telugu's with an estimated 4.50-5 crores net. The Telugu version also remains in the same range and collects an estimated 2.50-3 crores net. The total net collection of the film is approx. 31 crores, including Saturday, for all languages. "Liger" was needed to jump big on Saturday but that doesn't happen. Unless the Hindi version really turns the tide, the lifetime collection of the film could be wrapped up under 65 crores net. Box Office: Karthikeya 2 Overtakes Radhe Shyam In Hindi

Mumbai, August 26 - Actor Nikhil Siddhartha's blockbuster Karthikeya 2 has surpassed Prabhas and Pooja Hegde's Radhe Shyam's lifetime collection in Hindi languages. Radhe Shyam, which was released earlier in March this year, couldn't do justice to Prabhas' stardom in the Hindi version and ended up collecting only approx. 19.50 crores net. ## "Karthikeya 2", which opened to nothing numbers of just 7 lakh but grow significantly with each passing day after getting excellent reviews and super positive word of mouth. It scored 5.75 crores net in the opening week, followed by 13.52 crores (+235%) net in the second week. The total Hindi collection of the movie after 14 days reached 20.11 crores.## There is no comparison between Radhe Shyam and Karthikeya 2 as the Prabhas-starrer movie was made on a huge budget and scale against K2, which has been made at a fraction of the budget of RS. Mumbai, August 26 - The horror has come alive as Vijay Deverakonda's Liger falls massively on the second day itself after taking a record but underwhelming start upon its Thursday release in Telugu version. Hyderabad, August 26 - Vijay Deverakonda's sports action drama Liger was released in theaters yesterday (August 25) and it was a day of mixed feelings for the makers. ## Directed by Puri Jagannadh, "Liger" opened to record-breaking (as expected) box office numbers for a tier-2 Telugu film, but at the same time, the makers must be preparing themselves for what they are going to get in the future, at least for the most important Telugu version. ## "Liger", which had a very good pre-release buzz, remained underwhelming despite taking the biggest opening for Vijay Deverakonda with an AP/TG share collection of 9.14 crores, worldwide is approx. 24 crores. ## Puri Jagannadh described the movie as his best project to date, however, upon its release, the film got very poor reviews from critics while the audience's word of mouth is also not so encouraging which is clearly visible in the opening day numbers that were expected to be around at least 35 crores worldwide. ## The future of this Pan India film is looking blink, especially knowing the fact that the stakes involved in it are high. Chiranjeevi's Hospital For Film Workers To Be Operational By His Next Birthday

Hyderabad, August 22 - Megastar Chiranjeevi, who is celebrating his 67th birthday today, announced a few days ago that he will build a hospital for Telugu film workers at Chitrapuri Colony in Hyderabad and it will be operational by his next birthday. ## Participating in an event associated with Celebrity Cricket, the actor assured those present that the hospital would be operational by the time his birthday arrives next year. Addressing the gathering, Chiranjeevi said, "I've got this desire to build a hospital at Chitrapuri Colony. I have been nurturing this thought for some time now".## "I want to build a hospital at least with 10 beds. This hospital should be able to address all the health issues of cine workers, which don't require them to go to big hospitals. This hospital should be beneficial to all cine workers, who come under the BPL category or who get a daily wage", the actor said.## "The satisfaction I get out of doing this cannot be measured. So, the moment I got this thought, I started planning. I thank all my younger brothers who have lent a helping hand in this regard", he added. ## Stating that he intended to name the hospital after his dad, the actor promised, "I give you my word on this birthday of mine. It will be operational by the time my next birthday arrives. No matter how many crores it costs, I will do it. If someone is willing to partner with this initiative, I will be happy to accommodate", the actor said, explaining that he intended to undertake this mission as a mean to give back to the industry that had given him so much.## On the work front, Megastar Chiranjeevi will have three releases in the next 8 months. He has political action drama film "Godfather", scheduled to release on October 5. It also stars Salman Khan (Telugu debut) and Nayanthara in key roles. Box Office: Sensational Blockbuster Karthikeya 2 Crosses $1 Million Mark In The USA

Los Angeles, August 22 - Actor Nikhil Siddhartha's mystical action adventure film Karthikeya 2 has joined the top Telugu grosser at the USA box office in 2022. The movie is having a sensational run at the domestic as well as overseas box office, becoming a huge blockbuster. ## Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, "Karthikeya 2" has crossed the coveted $1 million gross mark in the USA, becoming the 9th Telugu movie in 2022 to achieve the feat. The last film to reach the milestone was Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur's recently released blockbuster "Sita Ramam", which has so far grossed $1.22 million over there. ## "Karthikeya 2" reached the $1 million mark in the USA on Sunday, taking just 9 days to get there. It has earned $1.02 million so far, which is the highest ever for Nikhil's film.
