Thalapathy 68: Actor Jiiva Gives Update On Thalapathy Vijay's Next Film

Chennai, April 29 - Thalapathy Vijay is currently shooting for director Lokesh Kanagaraj's gangster action drama Leo which is easily one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year. It is scheduled to release in October this year in multiple languages. ## While "Leo" is already hot among the fans and trade, the market is also buzzing regarding Thalpathy's next film, called Thalapathy 68. As per the recent reliable reports, either Atlee or Gopichand Malineni will be directing this big-budget mass entertainer. ## Now, actor Jiiva has provided a big update regarding T68. In his previous interview, Jiiva said that his home production banner Super Good Films' 100th movie would be headlined by Thalapathy Vijay, and it seems, the studio will indeed be producing T68. ## During a recent Instagram interaction, Jiiva assume to have confirmed that Super Good Films will be producing T68 and also confirmed that the official announcement regarding the same will be made super soon. ## ## Director Atlee has previously worked with Thalapathy Vijay on multiple blockbuster films and it has been widely reported that he would be helming T68 as well. However, Gopichand Malineni's name recently surfaced after it was reported that he had narrated a script to the actor who reportedly gave his verbal node. It is not yet clear whether he approached Vijay for T68 or his next one. ## Meanwhile, the shoot of "Leo" is currently going on at a rapid pace. Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 First Friday/Opening Day Early Estimates

Chennai, April 28 - Legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam's dream project just getting bigger and bigger as the second part of epic Ponniyin Selvan is off to a flying start at the domestic box office. The first part is already one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies of all time and now, "PS-2" has started very well. ## There wasn't a massive online buzz for Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2, but thanks to the overwhelming response to "PS-1" last year, the awareness among the general audience was there and this was clearly visible on the opening day of the release. ## As per the early estimates, "PS-2" has grossed around 32+ crores in all versions, including 18+ crores in the home state, Tamil Nadu. The first part opened at around 40 crores, including approx. 25 crores in Tamil Nadu. ## The Telugu version too performed decently as early estimates suggest 3-4 crores gross (PS-1 opened at around 5.50 crores) in the Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In Karnataka, PS-2 has scored an estimated around 4-5 crores (PS-1 was 4.10 crores) gross opening. ## PS-2 has brought cheers to the Kerala industry which hasn't had much success this year. As per the estimates, the movie has grossed around 2-2.50+ crores opening in Kerala. PS-1, however, took 3.15 crores opening in the state. The rest of India's gross collection is around 2.50 crores which is similar to the first part. ## Overall, PS-2 has started on a strong note, and with solid word of mouth by its side, the movie is expected to continue to the momentum in the coming days with not much competition, especially in Tamil Nadu. ## Stay tuned...

'Ponniyin Selvan 2' and 'Agent' Open To Contrasting Responses

Chennai, April 28 - Maverick filmmaker Mani Ratnam's much-awaited period action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 has been released in theaters today, and as expected, the movie opened to super positive responses from critics and audiences alike. ## The film, starring an ensemble cast including Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita Dhulipala, among others in key roles, had early morning shows due to the huge curiosity among the fans and the early responses indicated that the movie has exceeded the expectations. ## Despite being called slow-paced, the critics and audiences are hailing the intense drama and superlative performances of the lead cast. Mani Ratnam has once again done very well with his excellent direction and given enough scope to each and every key character to show their skills. AR Rahman's music seems to be the cherry on the cake. ## Overall, "PS-II" has been able to deliver what the makers had promised, and just like "PS-I", it should also do well at the box office. ## Quite contrasting to "PS-2", the long-awaited Telugu movie Agent starring Akhil Akkineni and Mammootty opened to forgettable responses from critics who are calling it one of the poorest films of the actors and director Surender Reddy. The audience response is also not encouraging which has made it tough for the movie to survive. ## "Agent" has been in production for the last three years as it got delayed multiple times due to the covid-19 pandemic. Unlike the response to the movie, the teaser and trailer got a good response which generated decent hype for the movie but the final content couldn't justify the sort of pre-release expectations it had, as per audience response. ## It is not that all is bad for the movie as the performance of Akhil and Mammootty is getting praise, but again, other departments didn't stand out. As per critics' reviews, the movie is let down by the poor writing, direction, and mindless over-the-top action. ## Overall, "Agent" has failed to make the long wait worth it, and it will find tough to get going at the box office. Los Angeles, April 8 - Star Wars movies are back, finally!## Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that three new Star Wars movies are officially in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter. These films get officially announced at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, held in London on April 7. ## The three new films will be directed by James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. As per THR, Mangold's movie will go back to the dawn of the Jedi and would look at the origins of the Force and be set 25,000 years before any of the timelines and stories told by the movies and shows so far.## Dave Filoni's Star Wars film will focus on the New Republic, and close out the interconnected stories told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and other Disney+ series while a film Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be set after the events of Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, and feature Daisy Ridley as Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order. ## Ridley's character, Rey, finished the 2019 movie ("Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker") by taking on the last name of Skywalker, a nod to carrying on the legacy of Luke and Leia Skywalker as she became a fully realized Jedi. James Gunn Hints At A DC-Marvel Crossover In The Future

Los Angeles, April 7 - It has been a dream of Superhero fans to see the superheroes of DC Universe and Marvel teaming up one day. It is a question that can't be answered by any other than someone who has worked in both camps closely, and that is maverick filmmaker James Gunn who is also now the co-head of DC Studios. ## In comics, the characters of DC and Marvel have crossed each other's paths such as Spider-Man teamed with Superman and Batman, The Hulk battled Batman, and even the Silver Surfer met Superman, among others.## Now, according to James Gunn, the crossover of these superheroes is not a far-fetched dream, especially since he is now in charge at DC Studio. Phars Films Bags Overseas Rights of Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' In All-Time Record Price

Chennai, April 4 - Thalapathy Vijay's gangster action drama Leo with director Lokesh Kanagaraj has turned blockbuster even before the release. The makers have reportedly sold the theatrical and non-theatrical rights in never heard before prices in Tamil cinema. ## It was previously reported that the non-theatrical rights of the movie have been sold in approx. 240 crores, including digital rights to Netflix for approx. 120 crores in all languages. Thalapathy Vijay's box office market, especially overseas has witnessed a sharp rise over the last few years. ## Considering the huge anticipation for the movie and the blockbuster combo of Thalapathy and Lokesh among the audiences, the makers were reportedly demanding a huge price for the film's overseas rights. It is said that the asking price was close to 70 crores, and as per the latest reports, the overseas deal has been locked. ## According to trade reports, Phars Films which has distributed some of the biggest Indian blockbusters has grabbed overseas theatrical rights.
