'Godzilla Minus One' Sets New Box Office Record Worldwide
Mumbai, December 31 - Japanese epic kaiju film Godzilla Minus One has been a sensational box office blockbuster worldwide. Produced by Toho Studios and Robot Communications, it is the 37th film in the long-running Godzilla franchise, Toho's 33rd Godzilla film, and the fifth film in the franchise's Reiwa era. ## The film made its domestic (Japan) debut on November 3rd, and in no time, it became a sensational word-of-mouth global hit. Made on a budget of under just $15 million, "Godzilla Minus One" has now overtaken the lifetime global haul of its predecessor, 2016's "Shin Godzilla", to become the highest-grossing Japanese Godzilla movie.## The live-action monster film has so far grossed approximately $80 million worldwide, beating "Shin Godzilla's" $77.9 million haul. In Japan, the film has minted approximately $32.4 million since its debut on November 3rd while in North America, it has minted around $44 million after debuting on December 1st. ## "Godzilla Minus One" made history at the North American box office in early December, when it delivered the biggest opening weekend haul ever for a live-action Japanese film with $11.4 million.
