Box Office: OMG 2 Third Day/First Sunday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 13 - Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama "OMG 2" has a good opening weekend though it got hit badly by the "Gadar 2" wave which is taking the nation by storm. The jump today for "OMG 2" is around 15% which is good as the movie is having less chance in small centers due to the competition.## The early estimates suggest the net collection of the movie to be around 17.50 crores on its third day/first Sunday. The movie scores an increase in multiplexes while mass centers remain more or less the same. The final collection today may vary a little bit either way depending on mass centers.## The 3-day opening weekend of "OMG 2" is approx. 43.50 crores net and it will most likely hit the 50 crores mark tomorrow. It will have the big day on Tuesday, August 15 on which the movie could score its biggest day as a 5-day Independence Day weekend headed for 70 crores (+/-) which is a good result.## "OMG 2" in a solo release could have easily gone past 100 crores net in the 5-day weekend. Mumbai, August 13 - Gadar 2 is taking the nation by storm and scoring historic collections with each passing day. The film hit the ball out of the park on its third day and registered one of the biggest single days of all time. East-West-North-South Gadar2 mania has gripped the nation. ## The growth today is over 15% as the movie collects an estimated 51-52 crores net which is phenomenal as yesterday was also a huge day. The jump comes in the multiplexes but even the single screens which hit capacity in the first two days have seen a surge in collections. These numbers have also come in a clash otherwise with a solo release Gadar2 would have done 155-160cr net box office on its weekend. ## Gadar2 has proved to be a bonafide blockbuster at the box office just like the original film in 2001. Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna's Action Comedy With Director Anees Bazmee Gets Shelved?

Mumbai, August 13 - Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor and director Anees Bazmee teamed up for an action-comedy film. Rashmika Mandanna was on board to play the female lead in the movie that was supposed to go on floors by August this year. But now, things seem to have changed regarding this much-awaited collaboration.## According to Pinkvilla, Shahid Kapoor and Anees Bazmee have decided to part ways on this project over creative differences. The movie has reportedly been shelved for now but the future course of action will be decided soon. Telugu producer Dil Raju was the producer of the movie.## Shahid Kapoor was supposed to play a double role in the movie, tentatively titled "Ek Saath Do Do" or "Double Trouble". The "Kabir Singh" actor will now be doing Malayalam filmmaker Roshan Andrews-directed thriller movie, titled "Koi Shaq". Box Office: OMG 2 Opening Day/First Friday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 11 - Akshay Kumar-starrer social comedy-drama film "OMG 2" has taken a decent start at the domestic box office. The major chunk of the opening day business of the movie has come through multiplexes as a large number of non-multiplex chains allotted to "Gadar 2" which is running riot at the box office. ## As per the early estimates, "OMG 2" is looking to score in the range of 9.50 crores net with an outside chance of hitting a double-digit mark depending on how strong smaller centers are. The opening of 9.50 crores net is in the expected lines as the movie didn't have the initial advantage due to "Gadar 2" euphoria.## "OMG 2" took a decent start in the morning and showed a jump in the evening and night shows, thanks to the super positive word of mouth. The movie is now in a better position to score over the Independence Day week than where it was standing before release.## The advance booking of the movie for the second day is much better which shows that word of mouth coming into play. Gadar 2 Is Set To Go Berserk At The Box Office On Friday

Mumbai, August 10 - The hype for Gadar 2 is high and it can be seen in the advance booking of the film which is outstanding with the main day to follow. The advance is competing against the biggest advances of Hindi films post-pandemic like Pathaan and Brahmastra. In smaller centers, it is bound to be the biggest advanced film ever beating KGF Chapter 2.## Gadar 2 is a sequel to the all-time blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha which was released in 2001 and belongs to the league of Sholay, Mughal-e-Azam, Mother India, and Hum Aapke Hain Koun as to the greatest box office blockbusters of all time and it is still the biggest hit of this century, bigger than the likes of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dangal, and 3 Idiots. ## The original movie had an opponent in 2001 in the form of Lagaan and even its sequel Gadar2 is having an opponent in the form of OMG2 which is again a sequel of a superhit OMG back in 2012 but OMG2 holds less appeal compared to OMG due to the subject of the film. It will be again a one-horse race like 2001 where Gadar smashed all records by leads and bounds. At the end of the day, it was a bad decision from the makers of OMG2 to go up against something as legendary as Gadar at the box office despite the restricted appeal of OMG2.## The projection of Gadar 2 opening currently is looking around 35cr net which will be an extraordinary opening but a higher number cannot be ruled out too the way the film is generating the hype. If the film manages to touch around the 40cr net box office mark then it will become the highest opening day footfall film beating Pathaan which was hugely helped by the enhanced ticket rates in the premium multiplexes. The advance in standalone multiplexes are comparable to Pathaan and in single screens, it will be bigger than any film to date. ## The Bumper opening will give a chance to Gadar2 to score the blockbuster 300cr net figure at the box office but that will depend on the public appreciation of the film. OMG 2 Advance Booking Status and Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, August 9 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is coming to the big screen with the sequel to his superhit movie "OMG" (2012), also starring Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam. Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" has been in the news for the last few days regarding its censorship which has been the talk of the talk.## "OMG 2" deals with a very sensitive issue of sex education and the religious angle in it has kept the censor board busy. After closely reviving the movie, "OMG 2" managed to get done with censorship formalities with some changes and has been censored with an "A" certificate (adult only) with the approved run-time of 2 hours 36 minutes. ## The movie is expected to release on over 1500 screens nationwide, mainly due to the hugely hyped "Gadar 2" which is releasing on the same day (August 11). The "Gadar 2" juggernaut is clearly affecting the advance booking of the Akshay Kumar-starrer, which, however, still manages to put up decent pre-sales.## Even though the hype of OMG 2 gets reduced due to Gadar 2, the pre-booking of the movie is much better than Akshay Kumar's last release "Selfiee". It will mainly target multiple audiences and has less scope to score in smaller centres due to "Gadar 2". ## The advance booking trend of OMG 2 indicates the opening of at least 8 crores net and has a good shot at hitting the double-digit mark if the talks are positive. If it opens in the expected lines, it will be a decent start considering the scenario around it. The positive word of mouth could significantly boost its chances over the Independence Day week. ## The movie is the sequel to a hugely successful film, be it critically or commercially and this is one of the biggest pluses it is currently having.
