Box Office Disaster 'Kanguva' Sets Streaming Release Date

Chennai, December 7 - Tamil star Suriya's fantasy action drama film Kanguva failed to live up to expectations and turned out to be a big disaster at the box office. Far from the humongous claims, this Siva's directorial ended up under 110 crores gross worldwide as a massive disappointment. ## With not getting much at the box office, the makers have now announced the streaming release date of the film in South Indian versions in the hope of a turnaround. The South Indian versions - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video on December 8. ## The theatrical window of the film is just 21 days which is the lowest for a Pan India movie and an indication of how badly the film performed at the box office. However, as has been seen in past movies, the box office disasters have also failed to generate viewership on OTT as well. ## The movie is produced by Studio Green in association with UV Creations. Chennai, November 29 - After the blockbuster success with this penultimate movie, The Greatest of All Time, Thalapathy Vijay is busy with the final film of his career before his political entry, Thalapathy 69, directed by H Vinoth. ## The shoot of T69, which also stars Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol, is progressing as the film is scheduled for Diwali 2025 release. The fans' emotions are attached to this movie for being the last for one of Tamil cinema's most beloved stars, however, it might not be as memorable as anticipated. ## There have been rumours that T69 is not an original movie as everyone was expecting and now, the latest Tamil media reports have strongly claimed that it is the official remake of Nandamuri Balakrishna's Telugu movie Bhagavanth Kesari which was released last year. ## The makers have been keeping mum on the rumours which have more or less confirmed the same. H. Vinoth, however, is expected to make several changes to the Tamil movie by keeping the same storyline. Dhanush Files Case Against Nayanthara

Chennai, November 27 - Tamil star Dhanush has filed a case against actress Nayanthara for allegedly using visuals related to his production Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix documentary - Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale without his permission. ## Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara, was produced by Dhanush and the actor-filmmaker has been at loggerheads with the actress for the same. Recently, Nayan shared a note on social media in which she slammed Dhanush for denying her permission and demanding a 10 crore sum for using the film's footage in the documentary. ## According to the report by NDTV, Dhanush has approached the Madras High Court against Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Shivan and their production house Rowdy Pictures Private Limited as the civil suit claims the actress and others used certain visuals from the movie without obtaining NOC. ## Dhanush's Wunderber Films Private also has taken out an application urging the High Court to grant permission to sue the Mumbai-based company Los Gatos Production Services India LLP, an entity through which Netflix reports its content investments in India, per NDTV.## The lawsuit threatens that if the content (in Nayanthara's documentary) isn't taken down within 24 hours, Dhanush's legal team will be forced to initiate appropriate legal action, including but not limited to seeking damages to a sum of Rs. 10 crores against Nayanthara and Netflix India.## Stay tuned...

Chennai, November 17 - Kollywood star Suriya's Kanguva has an underwhelming extended opening weekend at the box office, considering the hype and craze it had among the fans before release. The movie scored a good opening but it has been a downfall since then. ## The movie scored a minor jump on Sunday, however, a big jump which was needed after the underwhelming first 3 days, was missing. According to the early estimates, the fantasy action thriller scored an estimated 12-13 crores gross collection in all versions on its 4th day. ## In Tamil Nadu, the movie scored more or less in the similar range as yesterday for an estimated 5.50 crores gross while showing a minor jump in most of the other areas. The total first 4-day weekend collection is around 64 crores gross in India, which is underwhelming. ## The negative word of mouth has affected Kanguva big time during the first weekend and now, a rebound looks difficult from hereon. Chennai, November 17 — Actress Jyothika has called out the targeted negativity towards her husband, actor Suriya. The award-winning actress took to Instagram and shared her thoughts on Suriya's latest movie Kanguva and how it has been made to suffer with hate campaigns by media and certain fraternities. ## While admitting that Kanguva is not a perfect film with some issues, especially in the first half-hour, the actress said it is also not a bad movie that deserves such a high level of negativity. The movie was released on November 14 and was bashed left, right, and centre on social media which has already affected the box office of the film. ## Speaking about the same, Jyotika said in a long note on Instagram, "I'm surprised with the negative reviews from media and certain fraternities, as it's not done by them to this high level for the most unintellectual big budget films I have seen earlier with age-old stories, where women r stalked, double meaning dialogues r spoken and have the most over the top action sequences".## The actor-producer further said that the media intentionally ignored the positive side while reviewing the film and that has made her wonder largely whether one should ever read, listen or believe reviewers after all. ## "It's sad that they chose this much negativity for Kanguva on day 1, even before the first show was over (seemed more like multiple group propagandas) when it actually deserves applause for the concept and effort taken by the team to create 3D and such a magnificent visual", she added.## Directed by Siva and produced by Studio Green, Kanguva opened to record numbers for actor Suriya but dropped heavily in the next 2 days. The controversy erupted when Dhanush denied permission to use the footage of his production venture Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015) in Nayanthara's upcoming Netflix docuseries, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. ## In a lengthy note to the actor, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of demanding a 10 crore sum for using a mere 3 seconds of a video clip from the movie in the documentary. Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj Announces New Film In The LCU

Chennai, October 30 - Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj's Cinematic Universe is immensely popular among the fans with some of the biggest stars of Tamil cinema featuring in it. The LCU kicked off in 2019 with Karthi-fronted Kaithi, followed by Kamal Haasan-led Vikram (2022), and Thalapathy Vijay's Leo (2023). ## All three films in the LCU are directed by Lokesh and his next directorial in this universe is Kaithi 2 which will commence in 2025. Amid the high-profile films, the filmmaker has announced a new entry in the LCU in the form of Raghava Lawrence-fronted BENZ. Chennai, October 29 - With just 2 weeks left for the release, Tamil star Suriya's much-anticipated Pan India movie Kanguva has reportedly completed censorship formalities and the reports are super positive. The film is directed by Siruthai Siva and also stars Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in prominent roles. ## According to the reports, Kanguva has been censored with a 'U/A' certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 34 minutes. The movie was censored on October 29 with some modifications and without any major cuts.## The runtime of the film seems to be on the right side and as per reports, the CBFC team showered high praise for this Suriya-starrer for making one of its kind film. Chennai, October 16 - Superstar Rajinikanth's action drama Vettaiyan has entered the 200 crores club at the worldwide box office in just 6 days, becoming the second Tamil movie of 2024 to achieve the feat after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All Time.## After the good extended first weekend with 189 crores worldwide gross, Vettaiyan, however, has dropped heavily in the first 2 working days. On Monday, the collection dropped by around 75% followed by another around 25% drop on Tuesday for approximately 14 crores worldwide gross in 2 days. ## The total worldwide collection of the film after 6 days stands at approximately 203 crores gross, including 134 crores in India and 69 crores overseas. The domestic collection of 134 crores includes 81 crores in the home state, Tamil Nadu as it is marching towards 100 crores gross in the state. ## It is the 7th movie of Rajinikanth to top 200 crores worldwide gross, after 2.0, Jailer, Enthiran, Kabali, Petta, and Darbar. After the Covid-19 pandemic, Vettaiyan is the second film of the superstar to enter this box office club after Jailer.## Despite the good first weekend, the overall collection of Vettaiyan is underwhelming due to the weak trend during the weekdays.
