Box Office: Ajith Kumar's 'Good Bad Ugly' Set For Excellent Opening

Chennai, April 9 - Thala Ajith Kumar's highly anticipated Good Bad Ugly gears for a massive start at the box office. The movie is being seen as a big comeback for the actor after the debacle performance of his last movie, Vidaamuyarchi, which was released in February this year. ## Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, Good Bad Ugly is slated to hit the screens on April 10 in multiple languages and the advances for the same are strong, especially in the home state, Tamil Nadu. As per the latest pre-sales trend, the film has crossed 15 crores gross collection for the opening day which is currently among the top 5 in Tamil Nadu. ## The overall advance booking for Good Bad Ugly is nearing 18+ crores gross mark in India for the first day, while the same is around 35 crores, including 28+ crores in Tamil Nadu for the 4-day opening weekend, which is fantastic. ## The final pre-sales of the film are expected to finish in the top 3, which will put it on track for a 30+ crores gross opening in Tamil Nadu. Chennai, March 24 - Thalapathy Vijay's cinematic farewell Jana Nayagan has officially been confirmed to hit the big screen during the Pongal 2026 festival. The movie is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions. ## Jana Nayagan marks a significant milestone for Vijay as it is potentially the last film of his career before his full-time political entry. Announced for January 9 release, the movie will look to dominate the lucrative Makar Sankranti and Pongal holiday period at the box office.## This is not the first time a Thalapathy Vijay-starrer has been released during this period. Prasad under the banner of Sri Lakshmi Movies. ## The title with the first look glimpse of the film was announced on February 17, on the occasion of the actor's birthday. The teaser is intense and action-packed, promising another solid film for Sivakarthikeyan. Box Office: 'Vidaamuyarchi' Third Day Early Estimates

Chennai, February 8 - Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's action thriller Vidaamuyarchi saw a harsh drop of over 60% on its second day at the domestic box office but there was an upward trend on Saturday, a third day which was expected. However, the big jump is still missing. ## In the home state, Tamil Nadu, the movie managed to score a double-digit collection on Friday and according to early estimates, it is expected to gross 10.50-11.50 crores on Saturday with around a 10% jump in the state. This takes the movie's total collection to around 46 crores in the state. ## Apart from Tamil Nadu, Vidaamuyarchi is doing okay in the rest of the domestic market as there wasn't any drop in collection today. Overall, the film is expected to gross 13-14 crores domestically on its third day, pushing the total collection to around 57+ crores gross in 3 days. ## Vidaamuyarchi has one more day to score before entering the make-or-break weekdays. Box Office: 'Vidaamuyarchi' Second Day Early Estimates

Chennai, February 7 - After the good opening day, superstar Ajith Kumar's action thriller Vidaamuyarchi is seeing a big drop on its second day at the domestic box office, which was somewhat expected due to the mixed word of mouth. ## Vidaamuyarchi took the second biggest opening for the actor in Tamil Nadu with approximately 25 crores gross, however, the movie is seeing a drop of around 60% on Friday as early estimates suggest the collection to be in the range of 8-10 crores gross in the state. ## The drop is universal as the rest of the states have a similar kind of response as the overall second day of the movie is expected to gross 10-12 crores, dropping over 60% from the opening day of 31.75 crores gross. South Indian movies tend to drop after the first day, but here, the drop is higher than expected which is concerning. ## Word of mouth is not in favour of the film so the onus will be on the stardom of Ajith Kumar to finish to opening weekend on high good collection on Saturday and Sunday with decent pre-sales. Chennai, February 6 - Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's much-awaited action thriller film Vidaamuyarchi was released at the box office today amid high expectations. The movie was also released in the dubbed version of Telugu as Pattudala. ## While the expectations were high, it received a mixed reception from the audience. However, the movie has done well at the box office as it is looking to score 22-24 crores in Tamil Nadu, as per estimates. Depending on how the offline shows perform, the final figure can go higher in the state. ## Apart from Tamil Nadu, the film is expected to score 6-7 crores gross collection in the rest of the domestic market for a total domestic gross in the range of 28+ crores on its first day. It is the 44th film of Suriya and on Wednesday, the makers announced its official title as Retro with the teaser.## The teaser reveals Suriya as a Southern Tamil Nadu native with a gang mafia as a family business while Pooja Hegde plays his love interest. It shows Suriya's character attempting to reform himself for the sake of love as he promises to his lover to give up anger, and violence. ## The film is produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment in association with Stone Bench Films and Shakti Film Factory. Retro, which also stars Jayaram, Nasser, Joju George, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, and Karunakaran, among others is confirmed for the Summer of 2025 big screen debut in multiple languages.## The music of the film is done by Santhosh Narayanan while Shreyaas Krishna is the cinematographer. Bengaluru, December 20 - Amid Pushpa 2 - The Rule's rampage at the box office, the new pre-Christmas 2024 weekend Indian releases are off to a good start. Director Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai Part - 2, Upendra's UI, and Malayalam title Marco among others hit the screens on December 20. ## Viduthalai Part 2 was the biggest opener among the new Indian titles and it has opened almost double the first movie. According to the early estimates, the crime thriller grossed an estimated 8 crores, including around 6.50 crores in Tamil Nadu on its opening day.## Kannada star and director Upendra's dystopian science fictional action UI has exceeded expectations and taken the biggest opening of 2024 for a Kannada title. Per estimates, the film has grossed in the range of 7.50-8 crores, which includes around 80 lakh in the Telugu version, on its first day.## The Malayalam A-rated action thriller, Marco starring Unni Mukundan, is another film of the day which performed well above expectations. Touted as the most violent Mollywood title ever, the movie scored an estimated 5 crores gross on its first day. ## The word of mouth for all three aforementioned films is superb which should lead them to a very good holiday week. Meanwhile, there was one more big Hollywood film released in the form of Disney's Mufasa - The Lion King, in the voices dubbed by superstars like Shah Rukh Khan (Hindi) and Mahesh Babu (Telugu). ## The animated adventure film performed very well on its first day in India, scoring an estimated 9-10 crores net collection in all versions. Mumbai, December 10 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is reuniting with superstar Rajinikanth after 29 years for director Lokesh Kanagaraj's action drama Coolie. Aamir is playing a cameo role in this highly-anticipated Pan India film, produced by Sun Pictures.## While the official confirmation is yet to be made, Aamir Khan has reportedly commenced the filming for his part today. The new schedule of Coolie has started in Jaipur, Rajasthan where Aamir joined Rajinikanth to shoot for his action-packed cameo. ## The actor was supposed to shoot for his role in the film in October this year but it was postponed due to the health issues of Rajinikanth. He has a brief but powerful sequence with Thalaivar, promising a memorable, mass-appealing moment for audiences while simultaneously elevating the film's narrative. ## Meanwhile, Coolie is not the only movie Aamir is doing with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. It has been reported that the duo will collaborate for a full-fledged movie, mostly in 2026.
