Mumbai, July 10 - Marvel Studios-backed fourth installment of Thor - Thor: Love and Thunder take home a thunderous $302 million from its worldwide opening weekend box office. ## The global total of "Thor 4" includes $143 million in North America and a mighty $159 million internationally. The domestic opening weekend of the superhero flick slightly came lower than the industry's projection of $150M-$170M but performed way better overseas by coming ahead of the projection. ## "Thor: Love and Thunder" is one of the lowest-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe movies of all time with a critics' score of 68% on Rotten Tomatoes, but that did not come in its way to differ its target at the domestic box office. Internationally as well, the movie is having the mixed word of mouth but still performed the way Marvel movies should do. ## Korea has led "Thor 4's" international run with $15.3 million in the opening weekend, followed by the United Kingdom with $14.8 million. India has once again proved Marvel-friendly at the box office with an excellent $10.3 million in the 4-day opening weekend. "Captain America 4" will be his first Marvel movie. ## Mackie will be headlining the feature film, reprising his long-time Marvel character of Sam Wilson, but not, however, Wilson's long-time alter ego and Captain America sidekick, Falcon. This change happened, thanks to the events of 2021's Marvel's Disney+ series, "Falcon and the Winter Soldier", which saw Wilson finally accept the shield and mantle of Captain America. ## The shooting timeline for the 4th Captain America film is yet to be decided. Los Angeles, July 7 - Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder, is all set to help deliver big at the worldwide box office, despite being rated one of the lowest Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks of all time by critics. ## The second MCU feature release of 2022 is currently tracking to debut with over $300 million at the worldwide box office. At the domestic (North America) box office, the superhero flick is projected to deliver over $100 million in its opening weekend, which will be the first time during the covid-19 pandemic when two back-to-back domestic weekends will see $100 million-plus openers after "Minions: The Rise of Gru". ## Directed by Taika Waititi, "Thor 4", according to box office pro is looking to earn between $135M-$165M in its opening domestic weekend. The opening weekend projection of the film is tracking ahead of its predecessor, "Thor: Ragnarok", which debuted with $122.7 million in November 2017. ## The box office projection of the 4th Thor installment is closer to the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($146.5 million in May 2017) and Captain Marvel ($153.4 million in March 2019). There is a real chance that "Thor 4" may beat both of these movies and take one of the biggest Marvel openings ever. ## There is a possibility that critics' reviews might impact those projections in the final hours before release. However, as seen in the past, Marvel movies have always been audience-friendly and overcome those reviews more often than not, and have delivered at the box office. Mumbai, July 6 - Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder is all set to hammer at the Indian box office from this Thursday. The movie, directed by Taika Waititi, is releasing a day earlier in India than the North American release, on July 7. It will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. ## Marvel has always been a huge movie brand in India, and in the recent past, the studios' films have taken huge openings at the Indian box office. "Thor: Love and Thunder" is also tracking to open big as the advance booking response has been very good so far. Till 5 PM on July 6, the advance booking gross collection of Thor 4 is 11 crores, which is expected to reach 15-16 crores by the end of the day. ## The 4th installment in the Thor franchise, however, is getting a slow response as compared to the previous Marvel movie, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness", which was released a couple in May this year. At the same, "Doctor Strange 2" advance booking was around 20 crores gross while the opening day collection was 36.30 crores gross for all languages. ## Looking at the advance booking of "Thor 4" so far, the movie is still very much on track to open around 20-22 crores net with a possibility of reaching 25 crores net if critics' reviews and word of mouth are positive. While the 4-days total of the film is by far the biggest for an animated movie during the covid-19 pandemic, it is also one of the top starts ever at the domestic box office for an animated Hollywood title. ## At the international box office, "Minions: Rise of Gru" scored a huge $94 million through Sunday, pushing the global cume to $202 million, including a $108 million domestic opening weekend. ## The Hollywood industry is seeing Minions' box office performance differently. That means the sequel will have the advantage of playing over the Thanksgiving holiday.## The first part of this sci-fi epic, the adaptation of the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert, was released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max in the USA on October 22, 2021. It grossed $108.3 million in North America while worldwide, it scored $401 million and also won 6 Oscars. ## Meanwhile, Warner Bros./Legendary has set the release date of Adam Wingard's next installment in the Godzilla Vs.
