Box Office: Doctor Strange 2 Advance Booking Status And Opening Day Prediction In India

Mumbai, May 5 - Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was one of the first films to bring the Indian box office on its strong feet with big box office numbers in December last year. And now, another Marvel movie with Disney, "Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness" is ready to roar in India. ## Directed by Sam Raimi, "Doctor Strange 2" has been one of the most-awaited non-Indian movies and the advance booking for the same was opened nearly a month before its release on May 6 in multiple languages. As expected, the superhero movie is getting a phenomenal response in the advance sales as it has already reached 28 crores gross. ## The original English version of the movie is leading the advance sales with approx. 19.70 crores gross, including all formats, followed by the Hindi version with approx. 7 crores gross. The Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada versions have scored approx. 1.30 crore in advance sales. ## The advance booking of the "Doctor Strange" sequel is very much in line with "Spider-Man: No Way Home" which scored 22.50 crores gross in advances for the first day, mostly with 50% occupancy. While Tom Holland-fronted movie took the opening of 32.67 crores net or 41.50 crores gross for all languages in India, "Doctor Strange" might open with a lesser number. As of now, the movie is tracking to earn around 30-32 crores net or 40 crores gross (+/-), which will be a huge opening. ## In a long run, "Doctor Strange 2" might not reach the box office figures of "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which grossed 260+ crores in India. Mumbai, May 4 - Marvel Studios' upcoming superhero series on Disney+, "Ms. Marvel" is getting special treatment as it will be released in theaters in Pakistan. The announcement of the theatrical release of the series was made on the occasion of Eid by one of the directors Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy via Instagram. ## While Disney+ series are usually held for the streaming platform, "Ms. Marvel" is getting special treatment to celebrate the introduction of the first Pakistani Marvel superhero, Kamala Khan (played by Iman Vellani), into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the reasons to release it in theaters is also because Disney+ has not yet launched in Pakistan. ## Many people might be wondering how it will get a theatrical release, well, the makers have plans for it. Disney and Marvel will be especially creating a cinema format version of the six-episode series for Pakistan, split into three parts. The first two episodes will debut in theaters on 16th June 2022. Los Angeles, May 3 - Amber Heard's domestic violence allegations against ex-husband Johnny Depp have taken a huge toll on his career which is in doldrum since 2018. ## Depp's agent has now revealed that Depp was set to get a whopping $22.5 million to star in Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean 6", but Disney dropped him from the movie after Amber Heard published an op-ed reviving her domestic abuse allegations, as per Variety.## Jack Whigham, who represented Depp at Creative Artists Agency and later at Range Media Partners, testified that the December 2018 piece in the Washington Post had a "catastrophic" impact on Depp's career. "After the op-ed, it was impossible to get him a studio film", Whigham testified.## Whigham also said that Depp had earned $8 million for "City of Lies", $10 million for "Murder on the Orient Express" and $13.5 million for "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" - all of which were shot in 2017. In 2018, the actor made $1 million for "Waiting for the Barbarians", and was set to receive $3 million for "Minamata".## He testified that the op-ed brought Depp's career success to a halt. "It was a first-person account coming from the victim. Manoj Desai, executive director, G7 multiplex, and Maratha Mandir Cinema has refused to play the Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer with high ticket prices. ## According to Bollywood Hungama, Manoj Desai told, "Vinay Choksey, who is the booker of Gaiety-Galaxy aka G7 multiplex and Maratha Mandir, told me that Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness will be given to us only if we agree to increase the ticket rates. However, Mr. Arun Nahar, the managing director of our cinema, is not in favour of increasing rates by even one rupee for this film. He said that we'll happily play the film at the current rates and that we are not ready to inflate the prices".## It is not the first time Manoj Desai has refused to play movies in his cinemas due to overpricing. Earlier, he didn't release the Aamir Khan-starrer PK (2014) when distributors of PK had asked him to charge Rs. 150 and Rs. 250 from the public. At that time, the average ticket price was Rs. 80 and Rs. 100. ## The same thing arise when Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame" was released in 2019. And now, the Chinese authorities have put one condition in front of makers in order to release "No Way Home" in China. ## According to reports, the Chinese authorities have asked Sony Pictures to remove The Statue of Liberty from "Spider-Man: No Way Home" if they wanted to release the film in China. However, it hasn't been easy for Marvel to work on this highly anticipated sequel to 2016's movie as it went through a lot of delays and changes for various reasons. ## "Doctor Strange 2" might have been released a little earlier if it had not gone through reshoots late last year. At that time, it was unknown to everyone why Marvel was asking for the film's reshoots, however, director Sam Raimi recently revealed the main goals for the reshoots in an interview. ## "There's a lot of points where the audience says - I don't understand this. I don't understand this concept. Or, I'm aware of this concept, and then you explained it again in the third act, Oh, you're right, the audience knows that already. Or 'They had to know that in order to accept this next story beat. I'm eternally grateful to have been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for seven years. After pushing to 2023, "The Marvels" is now swapping the release with "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" in 2023, confirmed by Disney. ## "The Marvels", the sequel to 2019's "Captain Marvel", was originally due to open in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023, after getting pushed from November 2022, and "Ant-Man 3", was set to open on July 28, 2023. Instead, the "Ant-Man" sequel will now debut in Feb. while "The Marvels" shifted to July 2023. ## According to Variety, this was a matter of "Ant-Man 3" simply being further along in its creative process than "The Marvels", as the former has wrapped principal photography while "The Marvels" still has a bit more to go. Mumbai, April 28 - Tom Cruise's "Mission: Impossible" gets an official title at the CinemaCon 2022. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the high octane actioner has been titled "Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning – Part 1". ## As per Deadline, Cruise appeared in a pre-recorded message with the news during Paramount's CinemaCon session Thursday morning, filming from South Africa set of "Mission: Impossible 8" from atop a biplane (hinting at the pic's next big stunt).## It will be the seventh installment of the Mission: Impossible film series, and the third in the series directed by McQuarrie, following Rogue Nation and Fallout. The movie was originally slated for a 2021 release before getting pushed to 2022.## "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One" is now slated for July 14, 2023, release after getting pushed again.
