Marvel Studios 'Eternals' Is The Lowest-Rated Marvel Film Ever On Rotten Tomatoes

Los Angeles, October 28 - Marvel Studios' next superhero offering, "Eternals" has its world premiere last week at the iconic El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday (October 18). The early reactions to the film indicate it is the most un-like Marvel picture ever. ## The critics reviewed the film with most agreeing that this is a massive swing for the Marvel Cinematic Universe while some think it should have been a two-part offering as they feel it might lose the audience in the process of trying to explain a ton of what's really up with the backstory of these films. ## The different opinions on Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao's first Marvel film, have come out heavily against it as it has been rated lowest amongst all the Marvel films on Rotten Tomatoes. Currently fresh with 64% from 92 critics reviews, it is two points lower than Chris Hemsworth's second outing as Thor - Thor: The Dark World.## However, the Rotten Tomatoes score should not be considered as the final outcome of a film's success. There have been many films in the past that had the lowest ratings but did amazingly well at the box office. One such film is Tom Hardy's "Venom" (2018), which got 30% from 359 critics' reviews but earned billions at the box office. ## Eternals is scheduled to release on November 5.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, October 27 - China's war epic film "The Battle at Lake Changjin" has become the highest-grossing film of 2021 worldwide. It surpassed fellow Chinese film "Hi, Mom" ($848 million or 5.41 billion yuan) to reach the top spot with $883 million or 5.64 billion yuan at the Chinese box office. ## "The Battle at Lake Changjin" also becomes the second highest-grossing Chinses film and also the 2nd highest-grossing non-English film of all time after "Wolf Warrior 2" (2017), which grossed 5.69 billion yuan. Released on September 30, the box office monster is inching towards becoming the top-grossing non-English film ever.## Among the top 5 highest-grossing films of 2021, 3 films are Chinese while two are Hollywood films. "Hi, Mom" is at number 2 with $848 million followed by "Fast & Furious 9" (F9) at 3 with $716 million, "Detective Chinatown 3" with $686 million, and James Bond "No Time To Die" with $526 million. ## "The Battle at Lake Changjin" is reportedly China's most expensive film ever made with a production budget of approx $200 million. The Russo Brothers Tease Marvel Studios Return

Los Angeles, October 27 - Even though the Marvel movies have been helmed some of the finest Hollywood directors, Joe and Anthony Russo aka Russo Brothers are probably the most successful of them. The director duo has directed fours Marvel movies such as Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Civil War, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which not only became popular but also were commercially successful. ## Despite being so successful with Marvel, the Russo Brothers haven't worked on any other Marvel project since Endgame. However, in the new book "The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe", it's noted the Russos "softly retired" from the MCU after Endgame largely to make films under their own banner (AGBO). ## However, the book further adds that "there's an expectation that someday they'll work with Marvel Studios again". Stating the reason for their possible MCU comeback, Joe Russo says the Kevin Feige-led outfit is made up of the best collaborators they've had in Hollywood.## "We laugh a lot, and that's really important. We all have a very similar sense of humor, and we spent a lot of time making jokes with each other and enjoying each other's company during very long, difficult hours, whether in the story room, on set, or in the editing room. Everyone's very supportive and encouraging of one another", Joe added. ## "You can't undertake something as significant as the two most expensive movies ever made, back-to-back, without that kind of environment. You just wouldn't survive. There's no other way through it than with warmth and laughter", he said. ## Anthony Russo adds another reason the brothers love the studio is because of its commitment to the comic book source material. "It starts with their very specific passion for the material," he says. "That's a big part of it. Because of the connectivity, they have between what they do, what they say, what they think, and the actual work—it's all in synchronicity. It's all connected. For as hard as these movies were to make, the process with them could not have been easier", he said. ## Stay tuned...

Legendary Pictures Officially Confirmed 'Dune - Part 2' With Release Date

Los Angeles, October 27 - Denis Villeneuve's epic sci-fi "Dune" is getting its much talk about a sequel. We're excited to continue the journey! pic.twitter.com/mZj68Hnm0A— Legendary (@Legendary) October 26, 2021 ## "Dune - Part 2" was always on the cards the way it ended. However, there were always concerns that a high concept sci-fi film might not attract audiences that would justify multiple movies. But recently, WarnerMedia CEO, Ann Sarnoff had almost confirmed the sequel by saying to Deadline, "Will we have a sequel to Dune? If you watch the movie, you see how it ends. I think you pretty much know the answer to that".## Despite all the hints and possibilities of a sequel, "Dune" was still needed to perform at the box office and on HBO Max to get greenlit and it hasn't disappointed at all. Among all Warner Bros. films in 2021, "Dune" has the best start at the box office with $41 million in the 3-day opening weekend in North America. ## At the back of strong box office performance, "Dune" also done reasonably well on the streamer, HBO Max, on which, 1.9 million US households watched this movie in the 4-day weekend. At the global box office, Dune has grossed over $220 million so far. ## Produced by Legendary Pictures, Dune stars an ensemble cast including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.## Stay tuned...

Worldwide Box Office Projected To Reach $22B In 2021: Analysts

Mumbai, October 26 - The global box office has witnessed a sharp jump in the second half of 2021, especially from October onwards. Gower Street Analytics, which projected the worldwide box office at $20.2 billion in mid-September, has now revised its projection to be up by over $1 billion to $21.6B in 2021. ## The revised global box office projection came after the solid response to October titles including MGM/Eon/Universal's James Bond "No Time To Die" ($525M), Sony/Marvel's "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" ($352M), Warner Bros/Legendary's "Dune" ($223M), and China's "The Battle At Lake Changjin" ($830M). Gower Street further anticipates potential growth and that could take the global box office to around $22B in 2021.## Gower Street's $21.6B projection for the year 2021 is up by 80% from the pandemic hit 2020 but still is 49% behind 2019's global box office tally. The latest estimates, however, narrowed the gap from a previous projection of -52%.## The box office projection for the month of October has been increased to $3.2 billion from an original estimate of $2.5 billion. This would put October business just 4% behind the average of the three pre-pandemic years (2017-2019) for the month. No previous month in 2021 has performed better than 40% behind the three-year average.## Gower Street has projected China to contribute most with a 34% projection in 2021 while, overall, Asia Pacific (APAC) is projected to contribute 52% in the global box office. Domestic (North America) is projected to contribute 22% of the worldwide box office. Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) are projected to finish with 22% while the Latin American box office is projected to contribute 5% of the total box office. ## This is the final estimate Gower Street plans to publish for 2021 before actuals are announced in early January.## Stay tuned...

Warner Bros.' 'Dune' Falls Behind 'Space Jam' On HBO Max; Scores Big At The Domestic Box Office

Los Angeles, October 25 - Warner Bros. Pictures' latest offering "Dune" is playing in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously. Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi epic debuted on HBO Max a day before it opened in theaters on October 22. The movie is part of Warner Bros.' decision of releasing its 2021 slate day-and-date in theaters and on HBO Max. ## Touted as one of the finest cinematic outings, "Dune" had a fantastic debut at the domestic box office. With $41 million in the 3-day weekend, "Dune" takes the biggest domestic opening weekend for Warner Bros. in 2021 to date. Despite being available on the streamer, a large US audience chooses to watch the film on the big screen. ## On HBO Max, 1.9 million US households watched the film in the opening weekend, including Thursday showing views. While the studio should be pleased with streaming numbers, the domestic steaming viewership of the film, however, fell short of recently released "Space Jam: A New Legacy" (16 July), which gained 2.2 million views. Though "Dune" performed better than "Zack Snyder's Justice League" (18 March), which was watched by 1.8 million households on HBO Max in the opening weekend.## TV analytics firm Samba TV, which exclusively provided data to VIP+ showing, also suggests (via variety) that "Dune" among the movies debuted on Thursday, has the second-best showing on HBO Max, behind James Gunn's "The Suicide Squad" (5 August), which attracted 2.8 million US households during the Thursday-Sunday debut.## Among the films that debuted on HBO Max and in theaters in 2021, "Mortal Kombat" (23 April) has the highest number of viewers with 3.8 million in the opening weekend, beginning on Friday. "Godzilla vs. Kong", which was released on a Wednesday (31 March), gained 3.6 million views during the 5-day weekend.## Samba TV collects viewership data through proprietary content recognition technology on opted-in smart TVs and through partnerships with cable TV providers. Samba uses its dataset to estimate household TV viewership but does not estimate viewership on devices other than TVs. Panel members must watch a title for at least five minutes to be counted as a viewer (as per variety).## Stay tuned...

Robert Pattinson's 'The Batman' Budget Revealed And It Is Lower Than Most Of The DC Films

Los Angeles, October 24 - Robert Pattinson-led "The Batman" movie has gone through production delays due to the covid-19 pandemic. However, the highly-anticipated superhero film is finally gearing up for its release in March 2022, after getting postponed from June 2021. ## The latest Batman film in the DC Universe will see Robert Pattinson portraying the Caped Crusader and taking on The Riddler (Paul Dano) and will cross paths with other famous villains Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz) and The Penguin (Colin Farrell). The second trailer, which was released during the DC FanDome recently, showcased what fans can expect from this film. ## Meanwhile, despite the production delays and a visually stunning trailer, the budget of the film is lower than what the fans might be thinking. The reported budget of the film is also lower than most of the other DC Films and one of the lowest in the Batman film franchise. ## According to Deadline, the budget of "The Batman" is $100 million, even though, Warner Bros. Pictures hasn't revealed it officially. It is, however, unclear if the reported $100 million budget was the film's original budget. This is $150 million less than the biggest budgeted Batman film - Christoper Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" which cost $250 million to the Studio. ## Have a look at the budget of each Batman film (according to The Direct) - ## - The Dark Knight Rises - $250 million## - The Dark Knight - $185 million## - Batman & Robin - $160 million## - Batman Begins - $150 million## - THE BATMAN - $100 million## - Batman Forever - $100 million## - Batman Returns - $80 million## - Batman - $35 million## In DCEU, The Batman budget is lower than 7 non-Batman films including "Wonder Woman" and "Aquaman" -## - Justice League - $300 million## - Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice - $263 million## - Man of Steel - $225 million## - The Suicide Squad - $185 million## - Suicide Squad - $175 million## - Aquaman - $160 million## - Wonder Woman - $150 million## - THE BATMAN - $100 million## Stay tuned...

While the studio already has "Kraven the Hunter" for January 2023, it has also added release dates for unannounced projects on June 23, 2023, and October 6, 2023. ## While it is unclear when Sony intends to reveal what movies will fill those dates, fans have already started speculating that one of the two could be the third film in the Venom series. Warner Bros.' $160M Sci-Fi Epic 'Dune' Leaked Online A Day Before Release

Los Angeles, October 22 - Warner Bros. Pictures' strategy of releasing its 2021 films day-and-date on HBO Max and in theaters is coming to haunt them big time. The Studio made it's one of the most ambitious films of 2021 "Dune" available on its streaming platform HBO Max a day before theatrical release.## However, Denis Villeneuve-directed couldn't prevent itself from hitting piracy as this epic sci-fi film leaked online in full HD quality a day before its American release. Just like "Dune", "Black Widow" had also been released on Disney+ and in theaters simultaneousouly. Meanwhile, according to a report from the Global Innovation Policy Center (via CNBC), the U.S. economy loses between $29.9 billion and $71 billion in revenue each year due to piracy.## Meanwhile, "Dune", which stars an ensemble cast including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem, has already been released in the international market and earned approx $130 million so far.
