In its race to become the first $1 billion global grosser of 2021, "No Way Home" surpassed, James Bond "No Time To Die" ($774M) to become the highest-grossing Hollywood title of the year in just 8 days. ## The Tom Holland-fronted grossed $34.8M internationally and $27.4M at the domestic box office (North America) on Wednesday, pushing its global total to $813.9 million. Outside North America, where it has so far grossed $356.5 million after 6 days (Fri-Wed) including Thursday previews, "No Way Home" generated a whopping $457.4M from 67 markets.## The Top 10 overseas markets through Wednesday for "No Way Home" are the UK ($57.1M), Mexico ($43.9M), France ($28.7M), Korea ($28.6M) Brazil ($26.6M), Australia ($26.3M), India ($23.5M), Russia ($22.2M), Italy ($16.1M) and Germany ($15.5M).## At the worldwide box office, the 3rd MCU Spider-Man movie is currently at the 3rd spot after China's "The Battle at Lake Changjin" ($902M), and "Hi, Mom" ($841M). Mumbai, December 23 - Marvel Studios has dropped the first official teaser/trailer of "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", the sequel to the 2016 film which introduced Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange, a neurosurgeon whose life takes a turn after meeting with an accident. ## The first teaser of the sequel was attached to "Spider-Man: No Way Home's" second post-credit scene which introduced the darker version of Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Dr. Strange opened the multiverse during "No Way Home", despite the warning by Benedict Wong's Sorcerer Supreme about its dangerous result, and released villains from other universes into the MCU.## When things started getting out of control, Dr. Strange approaches Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch to seek her help to restore the multiverse to what it was before he opened it. Scarlet Witch, meanwhile, thinks he is there to punish her for the events of WandaVision. However, it isn't the case as he asks her what she knows about the multiverse?## One of the last footage of the 2 minutes 11 seconds of the teaser shows one of the versions of Dr. Strange is dangerous, as he is told that "the greatest threat to our universe is you", the smiling darker version of Strange concluded by saying, "things just got out of hands".## ## "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" recently went through reshoots over the course of six weeks in Los Angeles and through the end of 2021. Simmons is returning to portray Jim Gordon after first playing the character in Zack Snyder's "Justice League". Brendan Fraser is playing the villainous Firefly, a sociopath with a passion for pyrotechnics. The superhero film shattered many records during its opening weekend at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. ## Released over 61 markets including North America, the Tom Holland-fronted scored a mammoth $600.8 million at the global box office, including $260 million in the U.S. and Canada in just 5 days. This is the 3rd biggest preview launch ever for a Hollywood movie at the domestic BO, behind only "Avengers Endgame" ($60M), and Star Wars - The Force Awakens ($57M). ## For a film released during the covid-19 pandemic, the Tom Holland-fronted beats the previous biggest domestic preview grosser, "Black Widow" ($13.2M) by a long margin. The opening weekend of "No Way Home" is currently heading for a legendary $200M-$225M, as per the local trades.## According to trade expert Gitesh Pandya, 10% of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" Thursday gross in North America came from IMAX screens - $5.1M. Overseas for IMAX, it was the number 1 opening day box office all-time in Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Panama, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Greece & Egypt. And 2nd all-time in India.## The Hollywood box office is continuously rising with each passing film, despite the rise in covid cases and the emergence of a new and troubling Omicron variant. With the release of Allu Arjun's keenly awaited "Pushpa - The Rise" on Friday, "No Way Home" faced tough competition, especially in the South. However, despite the "Pushpa - The Rise" juggernaut, the Marvel/Sony/Columbia movie remained rock solid on the first Friday, grossing an estimated Rs. 20.50 crores ($2.70M), for a 2-day estimated total of Rs. 53.17 crore ($8.88M). ## The 3rd and last film in MCU's Home Coming trilogy, "No Way Home" is heading towards a legendary 4-day opening weekend total of Rs. 110 crores ($14.46M) gross. That will put "Spider-Man: No Way Home" to the first positive in India during the pandemic, and is likely to remain on that positive by the end of 2021. ## Meanwhile, at the global box office, "No Way Home" is equally strong. It had the strongest start in Korea since "Avengers: Endgame's" $8.2M, grossing $5.3M on Wednesday (Dec. 15). The studio's latest superhero movie in association with Sony/Colombia Pictures, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is off to a thundering an estimated Rs. 40.00 crores gross on an opening day in India across languages.## Released on a non-holiday (Thursday), the Tom Holland-fronted scored the 3rd biggest box office total in India since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, only behind Telugu movie "Vakeel Saab" (Rs. 46.50 cr.), and Tamil blockbuster "Master" (Rs. 40.40 cr). It may cross Master day 1 when the final number comes and take the second spot. ## The large share of the opening day's collection came through the English version, followed by Hindi. In Hindi, "No Way Home" scored in the range of Rs. 7-8 crores, making it the second-best opening after Akshay Kumar's blockbuster "Sooryavanshi's" Rs. 26.29 crores net, in 2021. ## Among the Hollywood movies in India, the Jon Watts-directed falls at the second rank, only after Marvel's own flick, "Avengers: Endgame" (2019), which opened to a massive Rs. 53.60 crores net over 2845 screens.
