Box Office: Marvel's Eternals Packs A Solid Punch Amid Sooryavanshi & Annaatthe Mehum At The Indian Box Office

Mumbai, November 6 - Marvel has once again been proved why it is one of the most trustable international brands in India. The latest superhero offering from the studio in its Phase four, "Eternals", which was released on November 5 on the occasion of Diwali, packs a solid punch at the Indian box office with Rs. 8.75 crores gross on the first day, despite the two-way clash with Bollywood's "Sooryavanshi" and Tamil biggie "Annaatthe". ## "Eternals", which is directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, had a promising advance booking with Rs. 2.48 crores for day 1. The superhero film, however, exceeded the expectations and scored huge at the box office. As compared to the recent Hollywood pic, Sony's "Venom: Let There Be Carnage", "Eternals" witnessed an astonishing growth of 150%. "Venom 2" had earned Rs. 2.95 crore net on day 1. ## Moreover, "Eternals" along with domestic blockbusters - Sooryavanshi and Annaatthe - gave a much-needed boost to the Indian exhibition sector, especially in the Hindi market. Rohit Shetty's "Sooryavanshi", which was held back for more than 18 months, was the top performer on the first day of its release as it created havoc at the box office. With an estimated total of Rs. 30 crores, it proved to be the biggest opening for Bollywood since the beginning of the pandemic. ## Rajinikanth's "Annaatthe", on the other hand, was released a day earlier and grossed Rs. 34.70 crores on its first day. On its second day, the action entertainer grossed approx. Rs. 22 crores, this takes it total sum close to Rs. 57 crores in the first two days. ## The first two days of Diwali (Nov. 4-5), brought over Rs. 100 crores at the Indian box office, with Annaatthe and Sooryavanshi being the top performers. Vishal and Arya's Tamil film "Enemy", which released day and date with Annaatthe, fairly did well on the first two days and grossed approx Rs. 9 crores. Telugu film, "Manchi Rojulochaie" grossed Rs. 1.50 crore on the first day. ## Stay tuned...

Marvel Studios' 'Eternals' Banned In Saudi Arabia, Qatar, And Kuwait Over LGBTQ Issues!

Mumbai, November 5 - Marvel Studios' next superhero offering, "Eternals" won't be released in theaters in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar. While the reason behind the ban has not been revealed, a THR report suggests the decision was likely made over the inclusion of a same-sex couple in the film and the MCU's first gay superhero. ## "Eternals", which was due to release in Gulf on November 11, was asked the make some edits by the local censors, but Disney was not willing to make those edits and decided to pull the film from the said countries. In the United Arab Emirates, however, the film is still listed as among the titles coming soon.## Homosexuality is still officially illegal across the Gulf, and films containing anything related to LGBTQ issues are frequently pulled from release. Last year, the Pixar title Onward was banned across Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia over a single line referencing a lesbian relationship.## In "Eternals", one of the scenes shows the character, Phastos (played by Brian Tyree Henry), and his on-screen husband, Ben (Haaz Sleiman), share a passionate kiss.## Directed by Academy Award-Winning director, Chloé Zhao, Eternals stars an ensemble cast including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie. Part of Phase Four of the MCU, it releases on Nov. 5 in the USA and other countries including India. ## Stay tuned...

Zack Snyder Reveals The Title Of His In-Development Army of the Dead 2

Los Angeles, October 28 - Zack Snyder's Zombie film, "Army of the Dead" was a hit on Netflix, which led streaming giant to sign a first-look deal with the filmmaker of the two years. As per the deal, Snyder will make and create content for Netflix including the sequel to Army Of The Dead. ## While the sequel to "Army Of The Dead" is still in the pre-production stage, Snyder has revealed that the sequel is titled "Planet of the Dead" and also teases one character's return for the sequel. Speaking to Inverse about the sequel, the filmmaker teases the potential return of Army of Thieves lead Dieter.## "But the real adventure would be to see what happened to him when that safe door closed. Did he get killed by Zeus or not? What happened? We don't see him die on camera, and there's still some time left. I won't tell you what happens in Army of the Dead 2 — aka Planet of the Dead — but let's just say that there’s a chance Dieter survives. And there's a chance that brush with death would have caused him to want to find a jailed Gwendoline", Snyder said.## Meanwhile, Army of the Dead prequel, Army of Thieves is releasing this Friday (October 29) on Netflix. It is directed by Matthias Schweighöfer from a screenplay by Shay Hatten, based on a story he wrote with Zack Snyder. Schweighöfer also stars in the lead as Ludwig Dieter. ## Army of Thieves is set six years before the events of the Army of the Dead, during the beginning stages of the zombie outbreak, Ludwig Dieter is in his early days of safecracking. He is hired by a mysterious woman to pull off a heist with the help of a misfit crew of aspiring thieves.## Snyder, on the other hand, is currently working on a sci-fi film titled "Rebel Moon" for Netflix. It focuses on a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that is threatened by war from the armies of a tyrannical regent named Belisarius, and the only hope for the colonies is a young woman with a mysterious past who is sent out to recruit warriors from neighboring planets to defend the colony. Snyder has co-written the script alongside Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead) and Kurt Johnstad (300).## Stay tuned...
