Mumbai, January 6 - Anushka Sharma is all set to mark her comeback after a maternity hiatus with the biopic of Indian woman cricketer, Jhulan Goswami. The movie was announced two years ago but got delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic. It was recently reported that Anushka has backed out from the project and Tripti Dimri would be replacing her in the film. However, the latest development burst those rumors and confirmed Anushka on board the feature film. ## The movie, titled "Chakda Xpress", is inspired by the life of one of women cricket's all-time greatest players, Jhulan Goswami. The film picks Goswami's inspirational journey as she moves up the ladder despite the hindrances posed by misogynistic politics to fulfill her dream of playing cricket for India.## Speaking about the film, Anushka Sharma said in a statement, "It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. 'Chakda Xpress' is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women's cricket. At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very tough for women to even think of playing the sport. This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped her life and also women's cricket".## "From support systems to facilities, to have a stable income from playing the game, to even have a future in cricket – very little propelled women of India to take up cricket as a profession. Jhulan had a fighting and extremely uncertain cricketing career and she stayed motivated to make her country proud. The movie was released in theaters on November 5 after getting delayed by 18 months due to the covid-19 pandemic. As expected, the cop-drama enjoyed a phenomenal run at the box office and went on to become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2021 with a worldwide total of Rs. 293 crores. ## The Rohit Shetty-directed was made available on Netflix after 28 days of the release. While its theatrical run is completed, the movie is now going strong on the streamer. As per the data released by Netflix, "Sooryavanshi" has become the most-watched non-direct OTT Hindi film on Netflix. It was watched by 22.2 million viewing hours in the first 4 weeks. ## Earlier, "Sooryavanshi" had broken into the top 5 of Netflix's most-viewed non-English films globally in the first week itself. Mumbai, December 27 - Filmmaker Anand L Rai's romantic-drama "Atrangi Re" starring Dhanush, and Sara Ali Khan, along with Akshay Kumar in the extended cameo, is having a good run on the OTT space. The movie was directly released on Disney+Hotstar on December 24, and as announced by the streamer, the film became the most-viewed Hotstar title on a premier day. ## While Hotstar announced that "Atrangi Re" is its most-viewed film on the first day, the question remains about the views it got. The OTT platforms have always been on the receiving side for manipulating viewership data and for their lack of transparency.## Ormax Media, a media consulting firm that tracks viewership figures of top releases across major platforms, is one of the trustable sources when it comes to viewership numbers. According to the company, "Atrangi Re" easily topped the last week by a long margin. The movie gained over 8.8 million views in the first 3 days, almost double than Sushmita Sen's "Aarya" Season 2's 4.7 million views from Dec. 20 to 26th. ## "Atrangi Re" was released in Hindi and Tamil (dubbed). The Tamil version was released due to the presence of Kollywood superstar Dhanush. Written by Himanshu Sharma, the movie got mixed responses from critics and viewers alike, who praised the unconventional plot, performances of the lead actors, however, called the screenplay incoherent and messed up with poor execution of the overall storyline. ## Produced by T-Series, Colour Yellow Productions, and Cape of Good Films, "Atrangi Re" marks Akshay's second direct OTT release. The much-awaited modern relationship drama, starring Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa in the leads, will be landing on Prime Video in January 25, 2022. ## Producer Karan Johar of Dharma Productions said in a statement, "Gehraiyaan is an intense, real, and honest observation of modern relationships, and Shakun has done a phenomenal job of portraying the complexities of human emotions. That, combined with the cast's earnest and powerful performances, makes the film a truly compelling story. We're thrilled to premiere Gehraiyaan on Amazon Prime Video. The cop-drama was released exclusively in worldwide theaters on November 5 for the 28 days before it landed on Netflix on December 3. ## As expected, the Rohit Shetty-directed, after winning the box office battle, is now ruling Netflix's viewership charts at the global level. According to the data released by the streamer, "Sooryavanshi" was watched by 7.11 million viewing hours in the first three days, which helped it to break into the top 5 most-watched non-English titles on Netflix from November 29 - December 5 worldwide. ## The viewing hours will be increased as the week progresses and it might end up in the top 3 in the next week. Meanwhile, during the same week, Kartik Aaryan's thriller film "Dhamaka" was at number 9 with 2.35 million viewing hours. It was a direct Netflix release on November 19. ## "Sooryavanshi", meanwhile, is still going strong at the box office despite being available on Netflix. YRF Announces First Web Show 'The Railway Men' On Bhopal Gas Tragedy

Mumbai, December 2 - India's leading film production company, Yash Raj Films is making its smashing debut in the digital world, announcing the studios' first web series, "The Railway Men". A tribute to the unsung heroes of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy, the show marks YRF's streaming content production's first out of five shows into the booming digital content (over-the-top or OTT) landscape of India. ## The show will tell the story of workers at the Bhopal railway station who saved thousands of lives during one of the world's worst industrial disasters when a cloud of toxic gas escaped from an American pesticide plant, in 1984, in the central Indian city of Bhopal. The series will be streaming from December 2, 2022.## "The Railway Men" heads the cast including R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu Sharma, and late Irrfan Khan's son Babil Khan. It marks the directorial debut of Shiv Rawail, who has had previous stints as assistant director on Yash Raj Films productions "Dhoom 3", starring Aamir Khan, and "Fan", starring Shah Rukh Khan. ## Akshaye Widhani, senior VP at Yash Raj Films said, "The Bhopal Gas Tragedy is the world's worst industrial disaster that has impacted scores of people since the tragedy struck the city 37 years ago. During the event, Netflix announced that Pedro Alonso will get a spin-off titled "Berlin: A New Series", which will premiere in 2023. Berlin is the undercover name for the character, otherwise called Andrés de Fonollosa in Money Heist. According to the reports, the "Hawkeye" series and Sony/Marvel's feature film "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" are the most pirated Hollywood titles of the week.
