Box Office: OMG 2 Third Day/First Sunday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 13 - Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama "OMG 2" has a good opening weekend though it got hit badly by the "Gadar 2" wave which is taking the nation by storm. The jump today for "OMG 2" is around 15% which is good as the movie is having less chance in small centers due to the competition.## The early estimates suggest the net collection of the movie to be around 17.50 crores on its third day/first Sunday. The movie scores an increase in multiplexes while mass centers remain more or less the same. The final collection today may vary a little bit either way depending on mass centers.## The 3-day opening weekend of "OMG 2" is approx. 43.50 crores net and it will most likely hit the 50 crores mark tomorrow. It will have the big day on Tuesday, August 15 on which the movie could score its biggest day as a 5-day Independence Day weekend headed for 70 crores (+/-) which is a good result.## "OMG 2" in a solo release could have easily gone past 100 crores net in the 5-day weekend. Mumbai, August 13 - The Bollywood box office is alive and kicking and is now slowly reaching its full potential as the latest blockbusters are running riot. The sequels to cult blockbusters, Sunny Deol's "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha" and Akshay Kumar's "Oh My God - OMG" have lighted up the Independence Day week along with holdover "Rocky Aur Rani Kai Prem Kahani".## On Saturday (August 12), the aforementioned three films were breathing fire at the box office and brought in over 62.08 crores net collection, including a 69% contribution by "Gadar 2: The Katha Continues" alone, followed by 25% from "OMG 2" and 6% by "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani".## Have a look at the detailed collection of the aforementioned three movies so far (till August 12) -## Gadar 2 - The Sunny Deol-led period action drama sequel had an excellent second day (first Saturday) at the domestic box office with a net collection of mammoth 43.08 crores. It was the third biggest second day and second biggest first Saturday in Hindi language of all time. The movie had an opening day of 40.10 crores net as the total collection of the movie reached 83.18 crores net in two days, becoming the highest-grossing movie for Sunny Deol. The worldwide collection of the movie stands at approx. 108 crores gross.## OMG 2 - The sequel to 2012's movie was up against a giant like "Gadar 2", still, it manages to remain strong and eventually scored a big jump of around 50% on its second day. The Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam-starrer movie netted 15.30 crores on Saturday, after a decent opening day of 10.26 crores net. The collection of OMG 2 is nowhere near Gadar 2, but it has faired much much better than a few of the recent movies of Akshay and is in very good positive to emerge a big hit. The total India collection of the movie is 25.56 crores while the worldwide collection is approx. 35 crores gross in two days.## Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani - The Karan Johar's directorial movie is in its third week and it managed to remain solid in the third weekend so far despite the competition with Gadar 2 and OMG 2. On its third Saturday, RRKPK scored 3.70 crores net collection, showing a jump of approx. 57% from Friday. The total net collection of the movie reached 126.83 crores while the worldwide collection stands at approx. 260 crores in 16 days. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, RRKPK will emerge as a box-office hit. ## The aforementioned three movies have so far scored approx. 115 crores net in the ongoing weekend, starting from August 11 and they will be eyeing to finish the weekend (August 11-13) around 190 crores net combined.

Mumbai, August 13 - Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor and director Anees Bazmee teamed up for an action-comedy film. Rashmika Mandanna was on board to play the female lead in the movie that was supposed to go on floors by August this year. But now, things seem to have changed regarding this much-awaited collaboration.## According to Pinkvilla, Shahid Kapoor and Anees Bazmee have decided to part ways on this project over creative differences. The movie has reportedly been shelved for now but the future course of action will be decided soon. Telugu producer Dil Raju was the producer of the movie.## Shahid Kapoor was supposed to play a double role in the movie, tentatively titled "Ek Saath Do Do" or "Double Trouble". The "Kabir Singh" actor will now be doing Malayalam filmmaker Roshan Andrews-directed thriller movie, titled "Koi Shaq". Produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Zee Studios, the movie will go on floors in September for a 2024 release.## Anees Bazmee, meanwhile, will be directing Kartik Aaryan-led "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3" from early next year. The huge jump clearly indicates the super positive word of mouth.## The jump on the second day looks to be over 50% as early estimates suggest a second-day collection of around 15 crores net. The movie has witnessed a very healthy jump in multiplex while mass centers remain more or less the same as day one due to the "Gadar 2" wave.## The total collection of "OMG 2" is around 26 crores net in two days and the three-day opening weekend is eyeing to be around 43 crores net which is a good result. The movie has a huge day coming in the form of Independence Day, Tuesday, which could be its biggest day. Mumbai, August 12 - Sunny Deol-led period action drama film "Gadar 2 - The Katha Continues" is running riot at the box office and brings the magic of the first movie back. The theaters are once again witnessing housefull boards and at the same time, the capacity issue is also arising.## Directed by Anil Sharma, "Gadar 2" scored gigantic 40.10 crores net collection on the opening day, taking the second biggest opening in Hindi this year. The second day scored a jump of around 7% for 43.08 crores net and with this, it has become the highest-grossing film of Sunny Deol, beating its predecessor in terms of net collection. ## The original movie "Gadar: The Katha Continues" (2001) scored approx. 77 crores net (not adjusting with inflation) collection which has now been surpassed by the sequel after 22 years. However, in terms of footfalls, "Gadar 2" is nowhere near the first movie which scored a mighty 5+ crore footfalls to mint 77 crores net. The sequel reached crossed the first movie with just (still good) approx. 45 lakh admissions (expected, 2 days).## The latest blockbuster is unlikely to generate 5 crore admissions due to high ticket prices but it has become Sunny Deol's biggest-earner movie of his career. Mumbai, August 12 - On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and superstar Hrithik Roshan re-released their superhit science fiction movie "Koi Mil Gaya" (2003) on August 4 in association with PVR Cinemas. ## The movie had limited re-release across PVR properties in around 30 cities as it was more like celebrating this cult classic rather than aiming for big bucks with a proper second-frame release. In the opening weekend, "Koi Mil Gaya" scored approx. 19 lakh gross in around 225 shows. ## After the opening weekend, the movie was left with a limited chance to score during weekdays as it grossed approx. 10 lakh from Monday to Thursday (August 7 - August 10). Mumbai, August 12 - Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani turning out to be a huge blockbuster at the overseas box office. The movie, directed by Karan Johar and starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, has been on a strong run since its debut on July 28. ## At the end of the second week, the romantic family drama movie crossed the 100 crores mark overseas as total international reached approx. 104 crores ($12.5 million), including approx. $5.3 million (44 crores) in the second week. It dropped just around 23% from the opening frame which is an excellent hold.## North America is leading the international pack for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani with approx. $5.9 million (49 crores), followed by Gulf countries with $2.60 million (21.60 crores), and the United Kingdom with $1.5 million (12.50 crores) in just two weeks. The rest of the overseas part scored approx. $2.50 million (21 crores).## RRKPK's worldwide gross collection through the second Thursday (2 weeks) reached approx. 245 crores and it crossed the 250 crores gross mark on its third Friday after a strong hold all across despite the mammoth competition. Mumbai, August 11 - Akshay Kumar-starrer social comedy-drama film "OMG 2" has taken a decent start at the domestic box office. The major chunk of the opening day business of the movie has come through multiplexes as a large number of non-multiplex chains allotted to "Gadar 2" which is running riot at the box office. ## As per the early estimates, "OMG 2" is looking to score in the range of 9.50 crores net with an outside chance of hitting a double-digit mark depending on how strong smaller centers are. The opening of 9.50 crores net is in the expected lines as the movie didn't have the initial advantage due to "Gadar 2" euphoria.## "OMG 2" took a decent start in the morning and showed a jump in the evening and night shows, thanks to the super positive word of mouth. The movie is now in a better position to score over the Independence Day week than where it was standing before release.## The advance booking of the movie for the second day is much better which shows that word of mouth coming into play. The movie should score a healthy jump tomorrow and Sunday before carrying the momentum till Independence Day. The movie dropped just around 35% from the opening week collection, which is an excellent hold.## "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani", starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, minted approx. 48 crores net in the second weekend. This takes the total collection to over 121 crores in two weeks, making it the 4th highest-grossing outright Bollywood movie of the year. ## Overseas, RRKPK has minted approx. 103 crores gross in two weeks, pushing the worldwide collection of the movie to approx. 245 crores gross. Mumbai, August 10 - In August 2021, Farhan Akhtar announced his directorial comeback after 10 years with an all-female-led road trip movie "Jee Le Zaraa", featuring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif. ## The shoot of the movie was supposed to commence in 2022 but got delayed as the leading trio was busy with their already-committed projects. Earlier in the year, Farhan Akhtar delighted fans by sharing pictures of him scouting for locations to shoot the movie. ## However, just when things were looking on track, rumors started making rounds on social media regarding the film's lead cast, after it was reported that Priyanka walked out of the project due to date issues. But now, filmmaker Reema Kagti, who is set to produce Jee Le Zaraa along with Zoya Akhtar under the banner Tiger Baby Films, has cleared the air regarding the rumors of casting changes.## During a recent interview with PTI, Kagti confirmed that the Farhan Akhtar directorial will go on floors with the same star cast very soon. It was even reported that the makers approached many A-listers to replace Priyanka in the film, but now, Kagti's revelation has put all the rumors to rest.## The makers are putting efforts to match the dates of Priyanka, Alia, and Katrina before taking the movie on floors.
