OMG 2 Advance Booking Status and Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, August 9 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is coming to the big screen with the sequel to his superhit movie "OMG" (2012), also starring Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam. Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" has been in the news for the last few days regarding its censorship which has been the talk of the talk.## "OMG 2" deals with a very sensitive issue of sex education and the religious angle in it has kept the censor board busy. After closely reviving the movie, "OMG 2" managed to get done with censorship formalities with some changes and has been censored with an "A" certificate (adult only) with the approved run-time of 2 hours 36 minutes. ## The movie is expected to release on over 1500 screens nationwide, mainly due to the hugely hyped "Gadar 2" which is releasing on the same day (August 11). The "Gadar 2" juggernaut is clearly affecting the advance booking of the Akshay Kumar-starrer, which, however, still manages to put up decent pre-sales.## Even though the hype of OMG 2 gets reduced due to Gadar 2, the pre-booking of the movie is much better than Akshay Kumar's last release "Selfiee". As of 5 AM on August 11, "OMG 2" has sold approx. 113K tickets worth 3.3 crores gross for the opening day. In three national chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis), the film has sold approx. 70K tickets. ## The final pre-sales of the movie is expected to finish over 100K tickets overall, including around 70K tickets in PIC. It will mainly target multiple audiences and has less scope to score in smaller centres due to "Gadar 2". ## The advance booking trend of OMG 2 indicates the opening of at least 8 crores net and has a good shot at hitting the double-digit mark if the talks are positive. If it opens in the expected lines, it will be a decent start considering the scenario around it. The positive word of mouth could significantly boost its chances over the Independence Day week. ## The movie is the sequel to a hugely successful film, be it critically or commercially and this is one of the biggest pluses it is currently having. Despite lagging behind the Sunny Deol-led movie, OMG 2 has its audience which is expected to turn in over the weekend, and as said, if it manages to get positive WOM, things can change drastically in its favour which the makers will be hoping for.## Stay tuned...

Now, according to Pinkvilla, the makers are already in search of the leading lady and have approached Kiara Advani for the same.## It is said that Farhan Akhtar narrated the basic plotline of Don 3 which the actress liked. Kiara is said to have given her verbal nod and is excited to be part of such a popular film franchise. Mumbai, August 9 - The sequel to 2014's coming-of-age romantic film "Yaariyan" has been in production since last year and makers have finally dropped the first look poster along with a new release date. It is directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, known for directing "Sanam Teri Kasam".## On Wednesday (August 9), the makers took to social media to release the first-look poster, featuring Divya Khosla Kumar, Meezaan Jafri, and Pearl V Puri. The poster is eye-catching in which Divya is portrayed with her back to the camera with a cigarette in her hand in Lehenga with both the male actors standing on either side of her.## With the first look poster, the makers also announced that the teaser will be out tomorrow (August 10) while the movie will be hitting worldwide cinemas on October 20, on the occasion of Dussehra. Mumbai, August 8 - The third installment of the much-awaited comedy film franchise "Welcome" is in the works and the development on the same is moving fast. The movie will see Akshay Kumar making his comeback in the franchise after missing out on "Welcome 2" while the makers have also locked a rock-solid rest of the cast.## It has been confirmed that besides Akshay Kumar, the makers have roped in Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi who will replace Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor in "Welcome 3". It will also reportedly feature Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty. ## Now, according to Pinkvilla, the makers have locked in Jacqueline Fernandez and Disha Patani to play the female lead roles. "Every Welcome film has a conflict around the female protagonist and this one too will stay true to the world of this franchise. Both Jacqueline and Disha will bring the right amount of confusion to the story", the report says.## Earlier, there were reports that Bobby Deol is also a part of the movie but the report clarify that things didn't work out between the producers and Bobby, and now, the team is in talks with another actor to come on board. Mumbai, August 7 - In 2003, Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan reunited with his father Rakesh Roshan for a science-fiction movie "Koi... Mil Gaya". It emerged as a box office success and went on to earn a cult status over the years. ## In 2023, "Koi... Mil Gaya" completes 20 years of its release, and to celebrate the occasion, the makers teamed up with PVR Inox to re-release the film on August 4 across 30 cities. The magic of the movie remained intact as it recorded housefull shows at some centers. ## The limited re-release of "Koi Mil Gaya" scored approx. 20 lakh gross in its opening weekend with a total of approx. 225 shows. On its opening day of re-release, "Koi Mil Gaya" grossed approx. 3.50 lakh, followed by approx. 6 lakh on Saturday, and approx. 10 lakh on Sunday. ## Earlier this year in June, Sunny Deol's Gadar: Ek Prem Katha was also re-released and grossed solid 1.30 crores in the opening weekend. However, that was a much bigger release than "Koi Mil Gaya", and considering that, the latter has done well on the weekend.## In its original run in 2003, "Koi Mil Gaya" had grossed approx. 80 crores at the worldwide box office, including approx. 10 crores overseas collection. The success of the movie inspired the makers to turn it into a superhero franchise. In 2006, "Krrish" (Krrish 2) was released and became a big hit, before "Krrish 3" was released in 2013 and scored a huge approx. 375 crores worldwide.## Directed by Rakesh Roshan, "Koi Mil Gaya" is produced by Rakesh Roshan's FilmKraft Production. The movie had a fantastic second weekend at the domestic as well as the overseas box office which helped it to cross 200 crores worldwide.## Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani scored approx. 31.50 crores net collection in the second weekend, pushing the total domestic to around 105 crores net (124 crores gross). It is the 6th Bollywood movie of the year to enter the 100 crores club.## At the overseas box office, RRKPK is having excellent trending. It reach an estimated 85 crores ($10.30 million) through the second Sunday. The worldwide collection of the movie reach approx. 210 crores in just 10 days, becoming the fifth Bollywood movie of the year to hit 200 crores worldwide mark.## RRKPK is the fifth movie of Alia Bhatt and the sixth for Ranveer Singh to cross the 200 crores global box office mark when they featured in the lead roles while it is the third movie of Karan Johar as director to hit the milestone. Mumbai, August 6 - Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani hits 100 crores domestic net after impressive second-weekend hold. The second-weekend drop of the movie is just around 30% from the opening weekend, which is one of the strongest holds for an Indian movie in recent times.## Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani had a huge jump of around 70% on its second Saturday, and today, on its second Sunday, the movie witnessed a further solid jump of around 15% for an estimated approx. 13.50 crores net collection. The second weekend total is over 31 crores net which is fantastic.## The total collection of the movie reached approx. 105 crores net in 10 days. The excellent second-weekend hold is a very encouraging sign for the movie as far as the lifetime collection is concerned. With this sort of trend at the box office, it could have easily gone past the 150 crores net mark had it got another free week, which is not the case.## RRKPK will face screen issues from the upcoming Friday on which two of the most-awaited Bollywood movies will release in the form of "Gadar 2" and "OMG 2". Karan Johar's directorial could still entertain the chance of hitting 150 crores net if any of the upcoming movies underperform. RRKPK, however, will still be eyeing at least 125-130 crores net irrespective of how upcoming movies perform.## As for the record, RRKPK has become the 6th Bollywood movie of the year and 109th of all time to enter the 100 crores net club. Mumbai, August 5 - Karan Johar's romantic family drama film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani exploded on the second Saturday at the domestic box office. The film is showing an excellent jump today and this has confirmed that it will cross 100 crores net by the second Sunday. ## Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani had a very good start to the second weekend and it is one of the rare mainstream Bollywood movies to score a jump on the 2nd Friday. Today, on the second Saturday, the movie is seeing an explosive jump of over 70%, and the collection can go as high as 85% which is excellent.## The early estimates for the second Saturday suggest the collection in the range of 11.50-12.50 crores net. This takes the total collection of the movie to around 91 crores net in 9 days, and tomorrow, on the second Sunday, it will go past the 100 crores net mark and will become the 6th Bollywood movie to reach the milestone this year.## The collections of RRKPK are strong in multiplex while smaller centers are also contributing well. RRKPK has now a real chance to emerge as a clean hit though it is already on course to emerge as a box office success. ## RRKPK is now headed to at least 125 crores net final collection and can go beyond as well if it manages to survive double competition in the form of "Gadar 2" and "OMG 2" which arrive on August 11.
