Shah Rukh Khan Officially Confirms 'King' As His Next Film

Mumbai, August 12 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has officially confirmed that King is his next. Though it was already known to everyone, the superstar made it official during a recent interaction at the 77th Locarno Film Festival, where he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award. King will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, and it will also star SRK's daughter Suhana Khan in her big-screen debut. Talking about the movie, the Pathaan star said, "The next film that I am doing is King. I have to start working on it, lose some weight, stretch a little so my groin doesn't get caught while I am doing action". To be produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment and Siddharth Anand's Marflix, King is said to be one of its one-of-a-kind action thrillers in which King Khan is reportedly playing the role of Don. The actor said that he wanted to do this kind of film for many years and finally has the script for the same. "There's a certain kind of film I want to do, where, maybe, it is more age-centric, and I want to try something. For 6-7 years, I have been thinking about it. I mentioned it to Sujoy one day, and he said, 'Sir, I have a subject," he added. King will start rolling by the end of this year, and it will be released in the second half of 2025. Mumbai, August 12 - Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri's romantic drama Laila Majnu was recently re-released amid the growing trend and to everyone's surprise, the movie has been doing fantastically at the box office unlike its original run back in 2018.## The Ekta Kapoor-produced heartbreaking tale of romance went unnoticed when it was first released in 2018 and grossed just a little over 3 crores at the Indian box office. However, the film's popularity grew over the years and it found appreciation among the audiences, thanks to television and OTT platforms.## In the 3-day opening weekend of its re-release, Laila Majnu grossed approximately 2.15 crores which is higher than the first weekend of its original run. The movie started with approximately 25 lakh net collection before jumping by 200% on Saturday to 75 lakh net. On Sunday, the movie crossed the 1 crore gross mark, to around 1.15 crores. ## This is the first instance in recent times that a Bollywood re-release has touched the 1 crore mark in a single day at the domestic box office. It will be interesting to see how the movie trends during the weekdays, also it is running out of time in its pursuit to top its original run as there are multiple big releases scheduled from August 15. ## The movie, however, can take inspiration from Ranbir Kapoor's recently re-released Rockstar which grossed over 10 crores in India. Mumbai, August 11 - Very few critically acclaimed films get a second life to succeed at the box office after failing on the first occasion. Avinash Tiwary and the new Bollywood sensation Triptii Dimri's romantic drama Laila Manju can be one of those few films. ## Released in 2018, Sajid Ali's directorial largely went unnoticed in its original run with a domestic collection of approximately 3.25 crores gross despite getting critical acclaim. It was re-released a couple of days back amid the growing popularity of the re-release of classic films, and to everyone's surprise, the movie is doing well.## After playing with a couple of shows for over a week since August 2, Laila Majnu grossed approximately 25 lakh on the first day of its proper re-release (August 9, Friday). As the word of mouth grew, the movie witnessed a 200% jump on Saturday to gross approximately 75 lakh collection.## Laila Majnu has topped a 1 crore gross collection in the first 2 days of its re-release which is an excellent figure. Sunday is expected to be the biggest so far for the movie as it is eyeing 2 crores gross collection in the opening weekend. ## Considering the trend, Laila Majnu would have easily topped the final gross collection of the film's original run but the time might be running out for it as it won't get much showcasing once the arrival of the hugely-awaited Stree 2 along with Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa on August 15. ## The movie, however, can take inspiration from Ranbir Kapoor's recently re-released Rockstar which grossed over 10 crores in India. Shraddha Kapoor's 'Stree 2' Advance Booking Off To Very Good Start

Mumbai, August 10 - As expected, the pre-sales of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted horror-comedy Stree 2 have taken a very good start in India and have already crossed the final opening day booking of some of the recent movies featuring bankable stars.## Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik, is easily the biggest Bollywood movie of the month which Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa are also releasing. Ever since the movie was announced, anticipation has been on the rise which is evident in the advance booking.## As of 5 PM on August 10, Stree 2 has sold approximately 50K tickets worth 1.75 crore (without block seats) for the opening day (not including previews). Mumbai, August 9 - The biggest of the month, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted horror-comedy Stree 2 is set to hit the big screen within a week on August 15, on the occasion of Independence Day. It is the sequel to 2018's blockbuster, Stree, directed by Amar Kaushik.## Stree 2 has been certified with a 'U/A' certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 29 minutes (149 minutes). Among the Bollywood films releasing on August 15, it is the second longest after Vedaa (150 minutes).## Produced by Maddock Films in association with Jio Studios, Stree 2 is the 5th movie in Maddock Supernatural Universe after Stree, Roohi, Bhediya, and Munjya. It is set after the events of Stree, as the town of Chanderi is being haunted again. This time, women are mysteriously abducted by a terrifying headless entity.## Shraddha Kapoor reprises her role as an unknown woman who now has the powers of Stree alongside the other returning cast of Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana in prominent roles. Mumbai, August 9 - It was a hugely disappointing week for Bollywood with two new releases, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Ulajh bombed at the box office. Both movies were not only unable to attract footfall but were awful from the opening day which led to a disastrous first week. ## The Ajay Devgn-fronted romantic thriller Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha was expected to score a decent collection even though the buzz was not there for that to happen. The opening below 2 crores net mark sealed its fate as it scored disappointing around 10 crores net opening week. ## It is one of the lowest opening weeks for an Ajay Devgn-starrer in the last 2 decades and easily the lowest by far in the last decade. It has been no starter from the beginning and it will finish below the 15 crore mark as one of the major disastrous of the last few years.## Janhvi Kapoor-fronted thriller Ulajh which was released on the same day as AMKDT also met the same fate with a disappointing first week of around 7 crores net collection and the lifetime will likely be the same as AMKDT.## Ulajh, after the poor opening, did show a better trend than the Ajay Devgn-starrer but there wasn't much audience for it to capitalize on that as the overall collection remained low throughout the first week. ## The attention now shifts to the Independence Day weekend which will see the much-anticipated horror-comedy Stree 2 taking on Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abrahm's Vedaa. Mumbai, August 7 - The sequel to Ajay Devgn-fronted crime thriller Raid has officially been postponed from November 15 of this year due to a tight release schedule. The movie is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta who confirmed the development.## Raid 2 was well on track until recently when Ajay Devgn-fronted highly-anticipated cop action drama Singham Again was pushed to Diwali 2024, two weeks before Raid 2's original release. It then became almost impossible to release two films of the actor with a tiny gap of just 2 weeks.## Director Rajkumar Gupta confirmed to Bollywood Hungama that the blockbuster will now be released early next year but the exact date is not yet revealed. The filmmaker said that producers will announce the official release date soon.## Raid 2 stars Ajay Devgn who reprises his role as an IRS officer, Amay Patnaik. In the first movie, Saurabh Shukla played the role of the antagonist but in the sequel, Riteish Deshmukh has replaced him to take on Ajay Devgn. Mumbai, August 7 - Earlier this year, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn headlined horror-thriller Shaitaan which is the remake of the Gujarati movie Vash. The movie emerged as a big box-office success which led to speculations about its sequel and now, there is a big update on the same.## According to the report by Bollywood Hungama, the script work for Shaitaan 2 has already begun and the makers will announce the movie once the script is locked. There is no update on when the film will go on floors and if the rest of the original cast will return.## Directed by Vikas Bahl, Shaitaan was released in March of this year and went on to gross over 200 crores at the worldwide box office. It is currently the second-highest-grossing Bollywood movie and third biggest in Hindi of 2024. ## While the official confirmation is awaited, Shaitaan marks the 8th film franchise to be headlined by Ajay Devgn, which is the most by any Indian actor. The movie is co-produced by Amazon Prime Video and Leo Media Collective and is directed by Anand Tiwari. ## The movie, which stars Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk in the leading roles, topped 100 crores worldwide on its 13th day. The movie has grossed approximately 66.50 crores (55.85 crores net) in India and an estimated 34 crores gross overseas for 100+ crores worldwide cume.## With its entry into the 100 crores worldwide gross club, Bad Newz has become the 13th Bollywood movie and the 8th Hindi title of 2024 to achieve the feat. John Abraham's 'Vedaa' Release Date Unchanged After CBFC Clears The Film With 'U/A' Certificate

Mumbai, July 29 - A couple of days back, the makers of John Abraham-fronted upcoming action drama Vedaa issued a statement stating that the censorship of the movie was facing delay due to some reasons as the team putting all the efforts to make it ready for August 15 release.## While there is no official word on further development yet, the latest reports have confirmed that Vedaa has been censored by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and it has received a 'U/A' certificate without any cuts, as per Pinkvilla. The makers, however, have been advised to put a disclaimer at the beginning to avoid any confusion. ## The movie deals with an important issue and the CBFC team reportedly could relate to what makers are trying to address through the film. With this, the path for the August 15 release has also been cleared and the makers will kickstart promotion with the trailer release this week.
