Box Office: Article 370 and Crakk Second Day/First Saturday Early Estimates

Mumbai, February 24 - After a good first day, Yami Gautam-starrer Article 370 shows a very good spike of around 30% on its second day. The jump today is a huge positive sign for the film as the opening day collection came due to discounted prices but today the film has normal rates. ## According to early estimates, the political thriller scored an estimated 7.50 (+/-) crores net collection, taking the total cume to approximately 13.40 crores net in two days. The movie has set itself up for a big Sunday as the first weekend looks to be around 22-25 crores net. ## The opening of the film was encouraging with discounted ticket prices but there were doubts about whether it could hold the collection with normal rates. Not only has the movie shown a very good jump with regular prices but also indicates a long run though a lot will depend on Monday's hold. ## Meanwhile, Vidyut Jammwal's sports actioner Crakk, after the good first day with discounted prices, dropped on its second as it scored an estimated 2.75-3 crores net collection. Though a drop was expected with normal rates as initial word of mouth for the movie is mixed, it would have been nice had it finished close to the opening day figures which is not the case. ## The total collection after two days is around 7 crores net. Chennai, February 24 - Legendary actor Kamal Haasan and director S Shankar reunited for the sequel to their vigilante action film Indian (1996). The movie has been in production for a long time and it is finally coming to an end after almost 5 years. ## Produced by Lyca Productions, Indian 2 has been one of the most anticipated Tamil movies. There have been a lot of enquiries about the film's release date but the makers have kept mum about the same. Last year, it was revealed that Indian 2 might be ready to release on Pongal 2024 but that didn't happen. ## Now, according to reliable reports, the highly-awaited movie will be hitting theatres worldwide in May this year and the official announcement for the same will be made soon. Yami Gautam's 'Article 370' Set For A Good Opening At The Box Office

Mumbai, February 22 - Yami Gautam and Priyamani-starrer political thriller Article 370 is headed for a good start at the box office. Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale is scheduled to hit screens on February 23. ## The film is seeing an excellent response in advance sales which comes as a big surprise to many, however, the pre-sales are being propelled by the cinema lovers' day across multiplexes with a discounted price of rs. 99. ## In 3 national chains (PVR, INOX, Cinepolis), Article 370 has sold over 80K tickets so far. It is about to finish around 100K for the opening day, which is higher than some big ticket entertainers like Lal Singh Chaddha, Vikram Vedha, and Drishyam 2, among others. ## With the kind of pre-sales the movie is having, an opening of well over 10 crores mark would have been assured but it comes at half of normal ticket prices. Still, Article 370 should score 5+ crores net, and it could go higher, depending on the audience reception. ## Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the movie is based on true events around the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir by the government of India in 2019. It stars Yami Gautam and Priyamani in the leading roles alongside Kiran Karmarkar, and Arun Govil among others. ## Meanwhile, Vidyut Jammwal's sports actioner Crakk is also heading for a decent start after seeing reasonable response in pre-sales, propelled by the offer. Los Angeles, February 22 - John Wick's spin-off film Ballerina starring Ana de Armas has been postponed by almost a year. The action thriller is the first spin-off movie and the fifth instalment overall in the John Wick franchise. ## According to Deadline, Ballerina, which was supposed to be released in June 2024, will now be hitting theatres on June 6, 2025. The move comes as John Wick architect Chad Stahelski has inked a new deal with Lionsgate to oversee the franchise. ## Stahelski is said to be working with Ballerina director Len Wiseman on additional action sequences for the movie, to amp it up even more than it is. Additionally, Lionsgate is giving enough time as the studio just wants to make the movie even better. ## Taking place between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Chapter 4, ballerina-assassin Rooney hunts the murderers of her family. Los Angeles, February 22 - Warner Bros. Pictures has upped the ante for the upcoming sequels to sci-fi epic Dune, and musical psychological thriller Joker. The two films are easily the most hyped Hollywood films of the year and are expected to bring box office glory. ## The making of the aforementioned sequels, however, cost a lot of money to Warner Bros. which spent hundreds of millions to provide a stunning theatrical experience to the audiences as the studio sees them big money spinners. ## According to Variety, the budget of director Todd Phillips' Joker: Folie à Deux/Joker 2 has been increased 3X of the first film. While the first Joker movie (2019) cost just $60 million in the making, the sequel hit $200 million which is massive. ## The report says that Joaquin Phoenix is getting $20 million to reprise his role as Arthur Fleck / Joker, while Lady Gaga is taking home about $12 million to play Harley Quinn. The successor of the $1+ billion grosser is due to be released in October 2024. ## Before Joker 2 hits the big screen, Warner Bros. has another massive film Dune: Part 2 ready to release this March. The Denis Villeneuve's directorial is already flying high with critics' reviews as Rotten Tomatoes score the film is currently at mighty 97% from over 100 reviews. ## As for the cost, Variety reports that Dune 2 was made on a budget of around $190 million, which is $25 million higher than its predecessor which cost $165 million in 2021. Los Angeles, February 21 - Marvel Studios is all set to drop the title of the Avengers 5 movie that was originally titled The Kang Dyansty. ## It has been reported that Marvel was planning to move on from the title after actor Jonathan Majors, who played Kang The Conquerer and was touted to be a big thing in the MCU, was found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment. ## However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Majors' conviction wasn't the sole reason behind the title change as Marvel was making moves to minimize the character after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania underperformed at the box office. ## Avengers 5 is due to release in 2026 and it will now be getting a new title. It is touted to be the 8th movie in the studio's ambitious Spy Universe. ## In January 2023, SRK made his Spy Universe debut with Pathaan and also marked his comeback to the big screen after 4 years. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the movie went on to gross over 1000 crores at the worldwide box office and became the highest-grossing Spy Universe film and one of the biggest Indian blockbusters of all time. ## It has been reported that YRF is now focusing solely on Spy Universe and has already lined up a couple of projects. Los Angeles, February 20 - Dakota Johnson-led superhero movie Madame Web has hit an unwanted box office record for Sony's Spider-Man movie.## Spidey's spin-off film generated $17.6 million over the traditional weekend and $26.2 million during the same six-day period at the domestic (North American) box office, opening second place (according to Variety). It is the first Marvel-based movie since 2015's Fantastic Four which opened at $25.6 million. ## Madame Web is now officially the worst Spider-Man or its spin-off title in the franchise's 22-year history. The movie debuted below Morbius' 3-day opening gross of $39 million and animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse scored $35.3 million in its domestic weekend. ## The latest superhero movie opened to terrible reviews from critics and CinemaScore is also not promising with C+ which has pretty much sealed its fate at the box office, as far as the domestic market is concerned.## Internationally, Madame Web minted $25.7 million over 60 markets on its 5-day weekend, for a $51.9 million global opening.
