Mumbai, November 13 - Marvel Studios' latest superhero movie The Marvels has a low weekend at the Indian box office which is a shocker. Marvel movies have historically done well in India but the same is not the case with the latest flick which even failed to beat the pandemic hit "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings". ## The sequel to the highest-grossing female-led superhero movie "Captain Marvel" scored just approximately 6.40 crores net collection in all versions in India in the first 3 days. "Shang-Chi", which previously had the lowest opening weekend for an MCU title since the multiverse saga in India, scored approx. 10.60 crores net. ## "The Marvels" took the opening of 2.50 crores net which is again the lowest since the introduction of the multiverse saga. The trends didn't improve on the second day (Saturday) as it remained flat and dropped on Sunday after the arrival of Salman Khan's "Tiger 3" to dismiss its chances of having some sort of outcome. ## The Brie Larson-led film was the least hyped Marvel Cinematic Universe title in a long time which pretty much sealed its fate at the box office as it couldn't rise above the low expectations in India. ## It was not only India where "The Marvels" massively underperformed, the situation was pretty much the same all over the world as it failed to beat the pessimist box office projection to gross just $110 million (920 crores) worldwide over a 5-day weekend. At the domestic (North America) box office, the sequel grossed just $47 million (390 crores) over the 3-day weekend. ## "The Marvels" has a production budget of approx. $275 million and with not-so-good word of mouth, it might not be able to cross the budget to end up being one of the biggest box office bombs in the MCU. ## Stay tuned...

Chennai, November 13 - Thalapathy Vijay's mega-blockbuster Leo has become the third Tamil movie of all-time to top 600 crores at the worldwide box office, after superstar Rajinikanth-led blockbusters "2.0" and "Jailer". ## The action thriller, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is slowing down at the box office but has done its job in the first three weeks. It has completed 25 days in theatres with a worldwide gross collection of approx. 600 crores, a first for Thalapathy Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj. ## "Leo" is the second Tamil movie of the year to breach this box office mark after "Jailer". The 600+ crores worldwide gross includes approx. 203 crores overseas collection (studio estimates) while the domestic collection is a little over 397 crores. The movie should be able to top 400 crores in domestic gross in the next few days. ## Produced by Seven Screen Studio, "Leo" will be looking to cross "Jailer" (604.50 crores) to become the second highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time. It will also surpass "PS-1" by today or tomorrow to become the highest-grossing film ever in Tamil Nadu state and a new industry hit in the state. ## "Leo" has had a good run in the Hindi language, in which it is one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies. The movie has scored approx. 31.30 crores gross in 25 days and it will be finishing around 31.50 crores final gross. The movie could have added another 2-3 crores gross but has been reduced to a fewer number of screens after the arrival of Salman Khan's "Tiger 3". ## It is the third instalment in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) and is inspired by A History of Violence (2005), an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name. Mumbai, November 12 - Salman Khan-fronted "Tiger 3" destroyed the Diwali day records at the domestic box office by a huge margin and looks to set one of the biggest openings for a Bollywood movie ever.## The movie has the disadvantage of the Laxmi Pooja which affected the evening and night collection but despite that "Tiger 3" scored around 42 crores net in Hindi, as per the early estimate. The final opening day collection can go up to 43-44 crores, depending on the night shows but 42 crores looks to be locked. The all-India opening (including Tamil and Telugu) is estimated to be around 44-45 crores. ## The opening makes "Tiger 3" the biggest starter for Salman Khan, beating "Bharat" which scored 42.30 crores net in 2019. If it opens on the higher estimates of 43 crores in Hindi then it will be the 6th biggest ever for any movie in Hindi while all versions will be the 5th biggest for a Bollywood film. ## The fact that Salman Khan's previous biggest opener "Bharat" came on a national holiday makes the "Tiger 3" opening excellent considering the odds were against due to Laxmi Pooja which is considered a weak day as far as the box office is concerned, even though the film is a much bigger product than "Bharat". ## The normal Friday release during the Diwali festival could have easily given "Tiger 3" a 60+ crores start but here Yash Raj Films opted for a unique strategy by releasing the film on the day of Diwali. The mass pockets couldn't come on board with full force and they are expected to fire on Monday or Tuesday. ## The initial word of mouth for the movie is mixed but it should reap the reward of the long holiday period. Mumbai, November 11 - The wait is about to end for Salman Khan-fronted hugely-awaited spy action thriller Tiger 3 which is releasing tomorrow (November 12). The Maneesh Sharma's directorial is the fifth film in Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe and the third in the Tiger franchise. ## "Tiger 3" will have one of the biggest releases ever for Indian movies. The keenly-awaited movie will be released on 8900 screens worldwide, including 5500 screens in India and 3400 screens internationally. It is the biggest release in the Spy Universe, ahead of "Pathaan" which was released on 7700 screens worldwide. ## Produced by Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films, "Tiger 3" is a rare movie to release on Sunday, that too on Diwali day. The advance booking of the movie was opened a week before and it got a good response, considering the Diwali day release which normally is a weaker day for the box office than the usual Diwali holiday. ## As of 8 PM on November 11, "Tiger 3" scored approx. 20 crores gross with 7.60 lakh tickets sold for the opening day. The pre-sales have witnessed a very good turnaround on the last day before the release and the final advance booking is expected to be around 23 crores with over 8.50 lakh tickets. ## The pre-sales booking trend of "Tiger 3" has been better than "Gadar 2" which opened at 40.10 crores net. It should ideally score over 40+ crores with this sort of pre-sales, but unlike "Gadar 2", which was an absolute darling of the masses, "Tiger 3" might not be on the same level, at least, on the opening day due to obvious reasons. ## The film will still be looking to open in the range of 40 crores net depending on the impact of Diwali Pooja in the night shows as one could expect the movie to have solid spot-booking in the afternoon and evening shows so 40 crores net opening is very much achievable which will be an excellent start and easily the biggest collection ever on the day of this particular festival.## "Tiger 3" will turn into beast mode from Monday, given the positive talk among the audiences. If it gets favourable word of mouth, the movie could achieve the target of 60 crores net and set the tone for an excellent long first Sunday to Sunday weekend box office total.## The movie stars Salman Khan in the title role alongside Katrina Kaif as the female lead and Emraan Hashmi as the main antagonist. Los Angeles, November 11 - Marvel Studios' latest tentpole The Marvels is tracking to score the lowest opening ever for a Disney-backed Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, after grossing just $6.6 million in Thursday previews. ## The $6.6 million preview gross is one of the lowest in the MCU in recent times, just one notch above "Ant-Man" (2015, $6.4 million). "The Incredible Hulk" has the lowest previews of $2 million for an MCU title in the preview era, but that’s when previews began at midnight.## According to Deadline, the "Captain Marvel" sequel is tracking to earn between $47 million and $55 million in the domestic (North America) opening weekend, which makes it the lowest opening ever for a Disney MCU title. "Ant-Man" is currently the lowest MCU title ($57.2 million) under Disney.## Depending on where the final weekend gross stands, "The Marvels" could have the lowest opening ever in the history of MCU, a record which is currently with 2008's "The Incredible Hulk" ($55.4 million). The movie didn't make much impact at the box office as it scored just approx. 2 crores net in the entire first week.## "Aankh Micholi" was one of the many recent films that got released in theatres for the sake of release. The makers didn't even bother promoting and tried to generate buzz around the film, which sealed its fate. ## Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut's "Tejas" had a horrible second week as it scored only approximately 75 lakh after the poor first week. The total net collection of the movie is approximately 6.25 crores in two weeks, turning out to be another disaster for the actress. ## In between the disappointing results, Vikrant Massey's drama film "12th Fail" is going from strength to strength. Mumbai, November 10 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's rescue thriller Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue has almost completed its theatrical run with underwhelming box office numbers given the star cast it got featured. ## Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, "Mission Raniganj" was the least promoted theatrical film of Akshay Kumar and with less to no hype, the movie opened at 2.80 crores net. The opening of the movie was one of the lowest ever for an Akshay Kumar-starrer. The movie did show some growth over the first weekend but wasn't enough as the collection remained low. ## "Mission Raniganj" got mixed to positive reception from the critics and audiences which kept it in theaters and after 5 weeks, the movie scored over 34 crores net collection. Though the box office numbers of the film are no way near the potential of the Akshay Kumar-starrer it is still respectable given the low opening. ## Produced by Pooja Entertainment, the film is currently playing in around 100 shows which will be reduced to almost zero after the release of Salman Khan's "Tiger 3" on November 12. Los Angeles, November 9 - Sony Pictures' next Marvel superhero movie Venom 3 has an official release date. The movie was originally announced for July 12, 2024, but it was always tentative due to the actors' strike, which has now ended after SAG-AFTRA approved the deal. ## The Tom Hardy-led third instalment of "Venom" will commence production in the next few days and Sony has officially set a November 8, 2024, release date for the movie. Kelly Marcel, who wrote and produced the first two "Venom" movies, directs the upcoming superhero film from a story she wrote with Hardy.## The first two films in the franchise opened in the October month in 2018 and 2021, respectively. The first movie was a big hit for the studio with a worldwide gross collection of $856 million while "Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage", which was released during the pandemic, managed to score $502 million. ## Meanwhile, Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3 is set for summer 2024 release. The 50% shoot of the film has already been completed but was put on hold due to the strike. It is now expected to resume as early as this week. Shawn Levy directs this film. ## Ryan Reynolds, who plays the titular role in the film, took to social media to confirm that "Deadpool 3" will be released in the summer of 2024 and now, Marvel officially confirmed it will be released on July 26, 2024.
