Mumbai, May 1 - Director Sudipto Sen's drama film The Kerala Story, which is scheduled to release on May 5, 2023, has overtaken Shah Rukh Khan-fronted actioner Jawan as the most anticipated new Indian movie, as per IMDb. ## "The Kerala Story" follows the story of a group of women from Kerala who are converted to Islam and join the extremist Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the movie stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani in prominent roles. ## The movie is claimed to have been based on real-life incidents, however, the opposition political parties of India are calling it a propaganda movie for showing Kerala state in a bad light. This has steered new controversy which seems to be helping the film in getting the attention of the audiences. ## The anticipation around the film has increased over the past week after the trailer was launched. Los Angeles, May 1 - Lionsgate Films' spy action thriller John Wick: Chapter 4 is continuing to put up a strong show at the North American as well as the overseas box office and crossed the $400 million worldwide mark. ## Despite being an R-rated flick, the film continues to draw audiences in its sixth week of release and becomes the only film in the franchise to top the $400 million worldwide box office mark. In its 6th weekend, the Keanu Reeves-fronted flick grossed a solid $15 million worldwide for a total of $402 million global cume. ## Directed by Chad Stahelski, the 4th installment has now grossed $176 million domestically (North America) and $226 million at the overseas box office over 72 international markets. The movie is eying to finish its lifetime box office run of over $430+ million. ## Meanwhile, the 4th installment of the "John Wick" franchise has crossed the 50 crores net mark at the Indian box office after 5 weeks. Chennai, April 30 - Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 is going bonkers at the box office and crossed the 100 crores mark worldwide in just two days.## After taking one of the biggest domestic openings for an Indian movie in 2023 with around 28.50 crores gross, PS-2 showed an upward trend on the second day by scoring around a 10% jump for 31 crores gross collection, pushing total gross collection to approx 59.50 crores. ## Overseas, the epic historical action drama film is also super solid with a collection of around 50 crores (estimated) in two days. This takes the total worldwide cume of PS-2 to approx 110 crores in all versions, making it the third highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023. ## The first part of "Ponniyin Selvan", which was released in September 2022, had also crossed the 100 crores mark in two days but was quicker to reach there in terms of time taken. It went on to gross approx 490 crores worldwide and was the third highest-grossing Indian film of the year. ## The critics' reviews and audiences' word of mouth are stronger for "PS-2" than the first part. Hyderabad, April 30 - Telugu mystic action thriller Virupaksha, starring Sai Dharam Tej and Samyuktha Menon, is continuing its strong performance at the domestic box office and is proving to be the first choice of Telugu moviegoers in the second week as well. ## Directed by Karthik Varma Dandu, "Virupaksha" was the number one Telugu movie on Saturday with a gross collection of 3.80 crores, outdoing the new release "Agent" which grossed just 1.80 crores on its second day. ## Meanwhile, the total worldwide collection of "Virupaksha" has around 64 crores, including around 35 crores share collection in 9 days, becoming the highest-grossing film ever for Sai Dharam Tej. Mumbai, April 29 - The leading Hollywood studio, Warner Bros. Discovery has partnered with India's Mukesh Ambani-backed Viacom18 to bring HBO, Max Originals, and Warner Bros. content to India through Jio Cinema.## Jio Cinema, which is already taking giant steps in the Indian digital space, has further strengthened its position among other platforms like Amazon, Disney+Hotstar, and Netflix. The deal between Warner Bros. and Viacom18 has the potential to change the landscape of the Indian OTT as Warner Bros. shows are hugely popular in India. ## As per the reports, the licensing agreement with Warner Bros., estimated to cost Viacom18 over $20 million annually, highlights Ambani's growing efforts to establish JioCinema as a dominant streaming platform in India's otherwise crowded market.## The deal is said to be for three years, unlike the previous Warner Bros. deal with Disney Plus Hotstar which was for the longer term. Mumbai, April 29 - The makers of magnum opus Adipurush have unveiled a new motion poster featuring Kriti Sanon as Sita. ## The motion poster contains a couple of different posters which perfectly sum up the situation Sita went through during exile and when Raavan forcefully abducted her and kept her in Lanka, away from Ram. ## In the first poster, Kriti Sanon as Sita standing at a rock with Prabhas' Ram poster in the background. The divinity of the poster is clearly visible and the makers have done well in detailing things. The color grading is also perfect. ## ## The second poster shows Kriti Sanon sitting with teary eyes in Lanka while Ram and Laxman (Sunny Singh) are searching for her. Both posters show the efforts makers have put in to keep the purity of the epic Ramayana. ## ## "Adipurush" is directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series and Retrophiles. Chennai, April 28 - Legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam's dream project just getting bigger and bigger as the second part of epic Ponniyin Selvan is off to a flying start at the domestic box office. The first part is already one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies of all time and now, "PS-2" has started very well. ## There wasn't a massive online buzz for Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2, but thanks to the overwhelming response to "PS-1" last year, the awareness among the general audience was there and this was clearly visible on the opening day of the release. ## As per the early estimates, "PS-2" has grossed around 32+ crores in all versions, including 18+ crores in the home state, Tamil Nadu. The first part opened at around 40 crores, including approx. 25 crores in Tamil Nadu. ## The Telugu version too performed decently as early estimates suggest 3-4 crores gross (PS-1 opened at around 5.50 crores) in the Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In Karnataka, PS-2 has scored an estimated around 4-5 crores (PS-1 was 4.10 crores) gross opening. ## PS-2 has brought cheers to the Kerala industry which hasn't had much success this year. As per the estimates, the movie has grossed around 2-2.50+ crores opening in Kerala. PS-1, however, took 3.15 crores opening in the state. Mumbai, April 28 - Earlier this year, it was reported that Vicky Kaushal was roped in to headline director Laxman Utekar's period drama film, titled Chhava under Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films production. The pre-production also commenced while the makers were in the process to lock the other cast. ## Now, according to Peepingmoon.com, the makers have roped in National Crush Rashmika Mandanna to play the female lead role, making her first big screen appearance with Vicky Kaushal. She has been brought on board to play the role of Sambhaji Maharaj's wife, Yesubai Bhonsale. ## The movie is primarily about Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of the Maratha empire's founder and the great warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. However, it also features an emotional love story between a husband and wife. Sambhaji Raje and his wife jointly held the throne as the emperor. ## Rashmika, who is actively working across multiple industries, was said to be the only choice of the makers for the female lead role and was locked following her look test recently. The report further revealed that Rashmika will receive voice coaching while Vicky will train for four months to become proficient in sword fighting, horseback riding, and archery for this movie. ## "Chhava" is believed to be the most expensive production yet for Vijan's Maddock Films which has sanctioned a huge budget to make this film a truly visual extravaganza. The pre-production is already in full swing and the regular shoot is expected to commence in September this year. ## Meanwhile, Vicky already has a film with Maddock Films and Laxman Utekar.
