Kochi, December 11 - Dulquer Salmaan's patience and trust in the crime drama film "Kurup" paid off big-time as it is turned out to be 3rd highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all time. Due to the continuous delay in the release date caused by the covid-19 pandemic and restrictions of theaters, "Kurup" was reportedly gearing for a direct OTT release, but the makers later changed the plans and gave it a theatrical shot. ## While the official box office collection hasn't been revealed by the makers, the Srinath Rajendran-directed has comfortably crossed Rs. 80 crores worldwide gross, which makes it the highest-grossing film for Salmaan. After mentioning his name in golden words and creating history with Prabhas-fronted "Baahubali" films, the filmmaker is now winning the same accolades for his upcoming period action drama film "RRR", of which the trailer was released on December 9. ## However, despite the unpreceded response over the trailer, "RRR" starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles, failed to beat "Baahubali 2", which transformed the regional cinema in India. Mumbai, December 9 - The sequel to the highest-grossing film of all-time "Avatar" is nearly upon us after almost 13 years. It has been a long wait for the fans to experience the next chapter of this sci-fi epic and the world of Pandora. ## A sequel to a blockbuster film doesn't often take too much time to get on the floors. However, in the case of "Avatar", a lot of time was down to writing not one but four scripts for the planned series of sequels up to Avatar 5. Producer Jon Landau told Total Film magazine as part of its huge 2022 preview that "The scripts are the blueprint from which we work". ## "So a large portion of our time was writing, with the challenge that each of those four scripts had to individually resolve itself in a story that concludes with a big emotional resolution – but when you look at them as a whole, the connected story arc of all four movies creates an even larger epic saga", he added. ## Meanwhile, the producer further revealed some of the first "Avatar 2" plot details. He revealed that Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) are now parents. James Cameron, who returns as director, has specifically written the script of "Avatar 2" taking the Sully family at the center stage. ## "I think the story of Avatar 2, and the strength of the story, is what Jim [Cameron] always does in any of his movies: he writes in universal themes that are bigger than any one genre. And if you think about this, there's really no more universal theme than family. At the center of each of our sequels is the Sully family. What are the dynamics that parents go through to protect their family?" explains Landau. ## The Sullys' idyllic life is disrupted when the RDA mining operation returns to Pandora, forcing Jake to take the family to "what is perceived as a safe harbor" at the reef. "And when you get to the reef, there's a clan we call the Metkayina", continues Landau. "The Sullys are no longer in the environment that they know, the rainforest. They become the fish out of water. They become the fish out of the water both culturally and just environmentally".## The sequel stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, CCH Pounder, and Matt Gerald, reprising their roles from the original film, with Sigourney Weaver returning in a different role.
