Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, And Other Leading Tollywood Stars Cast Votes In Closely Fought MAA Elections

Hyderabad, October 10 - Power Star Pawan Kalyan, Megastar Chiranjeevi as well as other leading Tollywood actors including Nagarjuna, Balakrishna, Ram Charan, among others cast their votes on Sunday (October 10) to elect new office-bearers of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), the apex body of the Telugu film industry. ## MAA members were voting to elect a 26-member executive comprising the president, general secretary, two joint secretaries, treasurer, and 18 committee members. Actor-producer Vishnu Manchu and actor Prakash Raj are the two contenders battling for the post of MAA president. ## Polling, which began at 8 AM at the Jubilee Hills Public School, was progressing smoothly. It was to end at 2 PM but was extended by an hour by the election officer, Krishna Mohan. There are a total of 925 MAA members and out of them, 883 members are eligible to cast their votes. Of them, 665 had cast their ballots. The counting is likely to continue till 8 PM, when the results are slated to be declared.## Retired employees of the Telangana Cooperative Society made elaborate arrangements for the polling in adherence with Covid-19 protocols. As many as 50 policemen and women were deployed as part of the security measures. The two parties have had a friendly camaraderie on the polling day as the two contenders battling for the post of MAA president shook hands and embraced each other to declare that they are all one. ## Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan was one of the first to cast his votes. Talking to reporters, the Jana Sena president declined to name the panel he votes for. He said MAA elections would have no bearing on the friendship between his brother Chiranjeevi and Mohan Babu. Pawan said the film industry will not split due to MAA polls.## Megastar and MAA founding president Chiranjeevi said he had cast his vote as per his conscience. He said that whenever the MAA elections were held, the same acrimony was witnessed and called for putting an end to it. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi's brother Naga Babu told reporters that he cast his vote for the Prakash Raj panel. ## Genelia D'Souza, who had been staying away from Telugu films following her marriage to Bollywood actor Ritesh Deshmukh, also came to Hyderabad to cast her vote. The actor, who marked his digital debut with Ekta Kapoor's show, won Popular Actor (Male) in Web Originals by SCREENXX for his portrayal of Agastya Rao in the series. ## "Broken But Beautiful 3" was the last project Sidharth Shukla worked in before he died of a heart attack on September 2. On Saturday (October 9), Ayushmann announced his next film, titled Action Hero, for which he reunited with filmmaker Anand L Rai and Bhushan Kumar. ## The movie is said to be different from the regular masala action movies and defined as a genre-breaking collab. It will be jointly produced by Anand L Rai and Bhushan Kumar under their respective production banners Color Yellow Production and T-Series. "Action Hero" will be directed by Anirudh Iyer Ganapathy, who will be making his directorial debut with this film. The movie is written by Neeraj Yadav and Anirudh Iyer.## "I hope our track record to entertain audiences worldwide with disruptive scripts continues with 'Action Hero'," said Khurrana. Chennai, October 9 - It has been a long wait for actor Sivakarthikeyan's fans to watch their favourite star on the big screen. After going through the pandemic crisis, OTT speculations, and delays, the actor's action crime comedy film, "Doctor" was finally released in theatres on October 9. ## "Doctor" has been one of the most-awaited Tamil films. Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' Casts Cillian Murphy To Play The Title Role; Sets 2023 Release In Theaters

Los Angeles, October 9 - Filmmaker Christopher Nolan's upcoming most-anticipated film based on the development of the atomic bomb in World War II, has been titled Oppenheimer. In addition to it, Universal Studios and Syncopy have cast Cillian Murphy to play the title role, which is about J. Robert Oppenheimer who is known as the father of the atomic bomb. ## Nolan and Murphy are longtime collaborators. The duo previously worked together on "Batman Begins", "Inception" and "Dunkirk". This time, however, Murphy has been cast to play the lead for the first time in Nolan's film. Oppenheimer will also be Nolan's return to WWII after Dunkirk, which earned the director his first and only Academy Award nomination for Best Director.## The upcoming film, like previous Nolan films such as "Dunkirk" and "The Dark Knight", will be shot with IMAX cameras and it will start production early next year. Universal Pictures will make the $100 million film after winning the rights, beating the likes of Warner Bros., Paramount, and Sony. The studio will distribute the film theatrically worldwide and has set July 21, 2023, release date in North America for a minimum of 100 days in theaters. ## The film is described as "an IMAX-shot epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it". Oppenheimer will be written by Nolan, produced by Emma Thomas, Atlas Entertainment's Charles Roven, and Nolan. It is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.## Nolan will also be reuniting with several other previous collaborators on this project, including producer Charles Roven, Nolan's Tenet, Dunkirk, and Interstellar director of photographer Hoyte Van Hoytema, Tenet editor Jennifer Lame, and Tenet composer Ludwig Göransson.## Stay tuned...

Los Angeles, October 8 - Daniel Craig's swan song James Bond "No Time To Die" is all set for a very good opening weekend at the domestic box office after taking the biggest start for a Bond film ever. The United Artist Releasing/MGM/Eon's film off to $6.3 million from Thursday box office previews that began at 4 p.m. ## The Thursday previews box office collection for "No Time To Die" is best for a Bond film, 19% ahead of Spectre's $5.25M, and also exceeds the preview nights of previous Daniel Craig 007 movies Skyfall ($4.6M off midnight shows) and Quantum of Solace ($2.5M off 8 p.m. showtimes).## "No Time To Die" Thursday previews are lower than the previews Hollywood pic "Shang-Chi" ($8.8M), "Venom 2" ($11.6M), "Black Widow" ($13.2M). However, the audience for Bond films is different from all these movies, as Bond is dependent on older adult audiences, and should they show up this weekend, the pic will over-index.## The 25th Bond has conservatively estimated to earn $55M-$60M in the opening domestic weekend, but exhibitors have set over $70M estimate for the film and over $150M worldwide for its second global weekend. ## The advance ticket sales for "No Time To Die" on Fandango already are ahead of Venom - Let There Be Carnage, and previous Bond films Spectre ($70.4M), Quantum of Solace ($67.5M), and Casino Royale ($40.8M).
