Mumbai, October 13 - Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon have been confirmed to reunite in Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo's Hindi remake titled "Shehzada". Directed by Rohit Dhawan, "Shehzada" has been in development for a long time and was supposed to be announced last year. Maharashtra Government Releases SOPs For Cinema Theatres

Mumbai, October 12 - The government of Maharasthra recently announced that the cinema halls and theaters would be permitted to operate from October 22, for which, the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) would be released soon. ## And now, on October 11, the wait is over for the Bollywood filmmakers as the government has released the SOPs which have cleared the road for Rohit Shetty's "Sooryavanshi" and other upcoming Bollywood biggies, which are lined up for release. ## As expected, the moviegoers will have to strictly adhere to the covid-19 guidelines such as practice social distancing, wear face masks and use sanitizers inside the theatre. The government has set a 50% occupancy cap in the cinema halls and also asked for stagger show timings so that crowding doesn't take at any point in the theatre.## The SOP has also mentioned that those who are fully vaccinated will have to show their Covid vaccination certificate. Fortunately, if one is partially or non-vaccinated, he/she can still enter the theatre, provided they show the 'safe' status on their Aarogya Setu app.## The staff of the cinema halls has been asked to check the temperature of the viewers and allow only asymptomatic individuals inside. The management of the theatres will have to sanitize the auditorium after every screening and also ensure regular and disinfection. The staff is also required to be fully vaccinated.## The government hasn't mentioned cut-off time for cinemas to operate in the SOPs which means that the night shows have been allowed. On his special day, Big B, in his latest blog post, revealed that he has terminated his contract with a paan masala brand, Kamala Pasand. ## A promo video of the brand was recently launched which inviteed criticism for Big B. Amitabh Bachchan, who is also a brand ambassador for the pulse polio campaign, was criticised for promoting the paan masala brand. In his blog, Big B revealed that he was unware of certain things about the brand and also revealed that he signed the contract with the brand without the knowledge that it categorises as "surrogate advertising". ## "From the office of Mr Amitabh Bachchan", read the statement. "Kamala Pasand - a few days after the commercial was aired, Mr. Bachchan contacted the brand and stepped out of it last week. Upon checking why this sudden move - it was revealed that when Mr. Bachchan became associated with the brand, he wasn't aware that it falls under surrogate advertising".## The statement also revealed that Amitabh Bachchan, after terminating his contract, has returned the money he received for promotional duties. "Mr Bachchan has terminated the contract with the Brand, has written to them his termination and has returned the money received for the promotion".## Last month, an NGO, the National Organization for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE), had also reached out to Mr. Bachchan, appealing him to not endorse commercials that promote paan masala brands.## Meanwhile, on the work front, Big B has plenty of projects in the pipeline. Mumbai, October 11 - The covid-19 pandemic has heavily favored streaming platforms as people around the world have preferred to watch movies and shows in the comfort of their homes. It is the result that streaming platforms have seen a rapid rise in the number of subscribers in the last one and a half years as theaters were closed due to the pandemic. ## According to the latest forecast, Walt Disney's Disney+ will have the most number of paid subscribers by the end of 2025. Though Disney+'s speed has slowed up a bit in terms of gaining subscribers it is still one of the fastest-growing digital platforms, and now, analysts say the streamer will reach more subscribers than Netflix by 2025. ## Research firm Digital TV Research shared the prediction in a report (via THR), projecting that the number of subscribers to Disney+ would reach 284.2 million in 2026. Netflix will in 2026 have 270.7 million subscribers. In a February report, the firm had forecast that Disney+'s user base would surpass Netflix’s in 2026. The latest forecast is, however, down from 294M for Disney+ and 286M for Netflix from the earlier prediction. ## According to Digital TV Research, three platforms, Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video "will control nearly half the world's SVOD subscriptions by 2026. Disney+ will be the biggest winner, overtaking Netflix in 2025. ## Disney+ will add 140 million subscribers between 2021 and 2026 to bring its total to 284 million. About 121 million of Disney+'s subscribers (43 percent of its total) in 2026 will be in the 13 Asian countries under the Hotstar brand. Amazon Prime will hit 243.4 million users in the said period.## The report further states that overall global subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) will increase by 491 million between 2021 and 2026 to reach 1.64 billion. Of them, China and the U.S. will account for 49 percent of the global total then. While both China and the U.S. had a similar number of subscriptions by the end-2020, China's growth will be slow due to government pressure. China is expected to have 354 million subscribers by 2026 as compared to the U.S. forecast of 450 million users.## Stay tuned...

Movies that were supposed to be heading for direct-to-digital release are now gearing up for the theatrical release. One such film is Salman Khan and Ayush Sharma starrer "Antim: The Final Truth".## "Antim: The Final Truth", the gangster-cop drama was earlier reportedly sold for direct OTT release. However, after theaters in Maharashtra were permitted to operate from October 22, the makers changed their plans and now opting for theatrical release. The film was in line for its possible Diwali release. However, the movie is now scheduled to hit the big screens on November 26 after director Manjrekar filmed few more scenes on Salman. ## Salman, who recently returned from Tiger 3 shoot, has been shooting for a few extra scenes. A source told mid-day, "After returning from the international schedule of Tiger 3, Salman filmed some solo dialogue scenes between October 4 and 6. The decision to add more sequences, featuring the actor, was taken jointly by Salman and Mahesh after seeing the rushes of the gangster-cop drama". ## After the latest development, "Antim" will most probably be clashing with John Abraham starrer "Satyameva Jayate 2", which has already been confirmed to release on November 26. Both the films are masala entertainers with a mass audience in mind, hence, it will be an interesting battle at the box office. SMJ2 has an edge over Antim as this John Abraham fronted has been one of the most-awaited Hindi films. Anti, on the other hand, is not a complete Salman Khan film. The actor is playing an extended cameo in the movie which is the official remake of the 2018 Marathi film Mulshi Pattern.## Salman Khan plays a Sikh cop in the film while Ayush Sharma plays a gangster. Mumbai, October 10 - James Bond "No Time To Die" opened with $56 million at the North America box office, very much in line with the industry's early box office projection of $55M-$60M. Daniel Craig's final outing as 007, the movie scored the fifth-best domestic opening during the covid-19 pandemic. ## The pre-ticket sales of "No Time To Die" had better than "Venom - Let There Be Carnage" and the Hollywood industry insider had hoped to cross $60 million in its domestic launch. However, it was always going to be an uphill task for the movie as unlike the recent Hollywood pics, the Bond movie has always been fueled in large part by moviegoers 35 and older. ## It was still a good start for the Bond pic as recent reports suggest that the movie-going confidence is getting back among the older audiences, thanks to the rapid vaccination against the virus. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 57 percent of ticket buyers were over the age of 35, including 36 percent over 45 years old. The male audience is turning into large numbers as 64 percent of ticket buyers are male. ## Meanwhile, despite the above par opening domestic weekend, "No Time To Die" continues to score big in the international market. The Bond pic stormed past $300 million worldwide after grossing an estimated $89.5M internationally in the second weekend, taking its total overseas collection to $257M. The total global box office of No Time To Die stands at $313 million, without China, where the movie is scheduled to debut on October 29.## On the other hand, Marvel Studios' "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Three Rings" has crossed $400 million worldwide and becomes the third Hollywood pic to achieve the milestone during the pandemic. The Simu Liu-fronted pic stands at $401.6 million globally, including $212.5 million domestically and $189.1 million overseas. ## "Shang-Chi" is the only film to reach $200 million at the North American box office during the 18-months of covid-19. It also surpassed fellow Marvel movie "Black Widow" to go past $400M worldwide.
