Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films Start Vaccination Drive For The Hindi Film Fraternity

Mumbai, June 8, 2021: India's one of the biggest production houses, Yash Raj Films had pledged to vaccinate the members of the Hindi film industry so that they can resume work at the earliest. On Tuesday, Aditya Chopra has started the much-needed vaccination drive at Yash Raj Films (YRF) studios, which aims to vaccinate around 4000 workers in the first phase.## The Studio has pledged that it will do its best to vaccinate 30,000 registered members of the FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees). The company has already vaccinated its employees in an earlier drive that happened within the YRF Studios in Mumbai. ## The vax drive, initiated by filmmaker Aditya Chopra of YRF, looks to facilitate the resumption of day-to-day activity in Bollywood.## Akshaye Widhani, Senior Vice President, Yash Raj Films, said, "After inoculating all the employees at YRF, we started vaccinating the crew members of our films and we are now delighted to have started the vaccination drive for the Hindi film industry. This will result in the daily wage earners of our industry returning to work and provide financial stability for themselves and their families".## "The drive will have to take place in phases, given the huge number of vaccines that are required to cover the industry. In the first phase, which starts today, we would be able to inoculate at least 3500-4000 people. However, the Telugu film industry did refrain from adopting this medium so early and it got a reward for showing courage by going for theatrical release. ## Ravi Teja starrer Krack, which was released on January 9, was the first Indian blockbuster movie during the covid-19 pandemic era. The movie released amid a lot of uncertainty and grossed over Rs. 60 crore worldwide and paved the way for others to follow. Now, actor Ravi Teja is gearing up for the release of his next, Khiladi. ## Khiladi was supposed to release on May 28, however, the second wave of the covid-19 hit makers' plan out of the park and forced them to postpone the release date. Though there are rumors that Khiladi will skip theatrical release and opt for an OTT release, director Ramesh Verma says that is not going to happen and they will wait for the theaters to open. He even went on to say that, unlike last year, there is no excitement for direct to OTT release this year. ## "Khiladi is a 100 percent theater film. Many films released online last year. There is no such excitement this year. The audience tends to watch films in parts on streaming platforms and the entire family does not get to sit together and watch a film peacefully. The actor will return to Chennai in the next couple of weeks as he has shot his portion of the Netflix original, co-starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Julia Butters, among others. ## Meanwhile, Dhanush is gearing up for the release of his Tamil film, Jagame Thandhiram. The gangster drama was supposed to be released in theaters, however, due to the covid-19 pandemic, producer S. Sashikanth sold the streaming rights to Netflix for a direct-to-digital release, which is scheduled for June 18 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. ## The audio of Jagame Thandhiram was launched on June 7. On this special occasion, Dhanush, director Karthik Subbaraj, composer Santhosh Narayanan along with the singers and lyricists took part in a Space session on Twitter. Dhanush joined the conversation from the US. ## The actor, who has been waiting for the release of Jagame Thandhiram for a long time, said in a Space session that he is disappointed as the film could have released in better circumstances in theaters but feeling okay that the film is releasing on Netflix to reach a wider audience. ## Dhanush will be playing the role of a gangster named Suruli who takes on a London-based gangster named Peter Sprott, played by James Cosmo. Earlier, both Akshay and Paresh Rawal were supposed to return in the sequel but now, it looks like Mr. Rawal is no longer a part of it, instead, Pankaj Tripathi has been roped in to play Rawal's role. ## While the official announcement about the film and characters is yet to be made, we have now got to know that Yami Gautam has been cast to play the female lead in the film. It chronicles Bhagat Singh's life from his childhood where he witnesses the Jallianwala Bagh massacre until the day he was hanged to death on 23 March 1931. ## Apart from Ajay Devgn, the movie also starred Sushant Singh, D. Santosh, Akhilendra Mishra, and Amrita Rao as the other lead characters while Raj Babbar and Farida Jalal played supporting roles. The music of the film, which is still one of the best albums, was composed by A. R. Rahman. ## The movie received a positive response for the direction, story, screenplay, and performances of Devgn and Sushant receiving the most attention, however, it underperformed at the box office, grossing only approx Rs. 110 million in the budget of around Rs. 180 million. The actor is reportadly reprising his character of God in the sequel while Pankaj Tripathi is the new addition. Tripathi will replace Paresh Rawal who was part of 2012's film. The script of the film is said to be locked and will go on floors in September this year. ## It was reported that Umesh Shukla, who helmed Oh My God, is not returning to helm sequel. We now learnt that Amit Rai, who win accolades for directing Road to Sangam (2010), has been brought on board to helm this social comedy, which will be produced by Ashwin Varde and Akshay Kumar. ## Rai's directorial "Road to Sangam" featured Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, and Pawan Malhotra. He won Gollapudi Srinivas Award for the film. He has also directed the 2009 Marathi film, Tingya, which was rewarded at the International Film Festival of South Africa.## "After discussing multiple ideas with multiple names, Amit was able to crack a plot that's relevant and as exciting as the first part. It took him quite some time to develop the idea into a screenplay. It's only after multiple narrations and discussions that the film got green-lit by Akshay Kumar.
