Exclusive: Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Sells Over 100K Advance Tickets For The Opening Day

Mumbai, March 7 - Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-fronted romantic-comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which is releasing tomorrow (March 8), is seeing a good response in the pre-booking which was the case with the recent Bollywood movies this year. ## The Luv Ranjan's directorial has sold over 100K tickets for the opening day and there are still some hours left for the first show to begin. The advance booking of TJMM started only three days before the release on March 5 which is proving to be a good move. Though the pre-booking for the movie is not high flying but good enough for a decent to good start at the box office. ## The advance booking of TJMM is the second best for a Bollywood movie in 2023 after Shah Rukh Khan-fronted "Pathaan" which sold over 1 million tickets for the opening day in advance booking. The other notable release this year, Kartik Aaryan's "Shehzada" sold approx. 52K tickets and Akshay Kumar's "Selfiee" sold approx. 20K advance tickets for the opening day. ## "Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar" is produced by T-Series and Luv Films while Yash Raj Films is the overseas distribution partner. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, March 7 - Director Luv Ranjan's first film in 4 years, romantic-comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor is finally hitting theaters worldwide tomorrow (March 8), more than 3 years after it was first announced in 2019.## Ranjan's last directorial, "Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety" was a blockbuster so the expectations are high from TJMM which carries bigger star power. Though a lot has changed over the last few years, TJMM is seeing a better response in the advance booking than the previous few Bollywood movies this year, also than the SKTKS. ## Produced by T-Series and Luv Films, TJMM has sold approx. 84K tickets worth approx. 2.50 crores as of 7 PM on March 7 for the opening day. The advances for the first day are expected to finish over 100K tickets, the second biggest for a Bollywood movie in 2023. ## Looking at the advance booking response, TJMM is looking to take a double-digit start as the opening day could be somewhere around 10-13 crores net, which is a much better start than Ranjan's SKTKS which opened at 6.42 crores net and went to score approx. 109 crores lifetime net collection. ## TJMM is releasing on Wednesday, coinciding with Holi weekend. The Morning shows might see a slow start on the opening day due to the festival but the rest of the day will behave like a holiday. Last year, Akshay Kumar's "Bachchhan Paandey" opened at 13.25 crores on Holi, and TJMM is expected to open in a similar range. Box Office: Pathaan Becomes The Biggest Blockbuster In India In A Single Language

Mumbai, March 4 - The King of romance, Shah Rukh Khan is officially the King of action as his latest blockbuster Pathaan has shattered all the existing records at the box office for a Bollywood film and that too, with ease.## The spy action thriller started its box office journey on January 25 and after 38 days, "Pathaan" is now the biggest blockbuster ever in India in a single language. It has crossed the lifetime net collection of SS Rajamouli's epic blockbuster "Baahubali 2" which scored 510.99 crores net in Hindi in 2017. ## Directed by Siddharth Anand, "Pathaan" is now the biggest Indian as well as a non-Indian movie at the domestic box office as far as the net collection is concerned. Mumbai, February 27 - Back in 2020, producer Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur came together to announce the war drama movie Pippa, starring Ishaan Khattar and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles. ## "Airlift" director Raja Krishna Menon helmed the movie, based on the book The Burning Chaffees by Balram Singh Mehta who fought during the Indo-Pak war in 1971. Khattar has played the role of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta.## The movie was originally announced to release in 2021, before makers postponed it to December 2, 2022, due to the covid-19 pandemic which delayed the shoot. When it was looking on track for December 2022 release, the makers postponed it again due to an unknown reason and they are yet to lock the new release date. ## The makers are eyeing only theatrical release as the film is made for the big screen. Ranbir Kapoor Opens Up On The Biopics of Kishore Kumar and Sourav Ganguly

Mumbai, February 27 - Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor is busy with the promotion of his upcoming romantic comedy "Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar which is slated to release on March 8 on the occasion of Holi.## Over the last couple of years, there have been talks about Ranbir Kapoor doing the biopics of legendary singer Kishore Kumar and cricketer Sourav Ganguly. Much to the delight of the late singer's fans, Ranbir confirmed that he indeed doing it. ## During the event, Ranbir revealed that he is a part of the Kishore Kumar biopic and has been working on it for the past 11 years. The actor added that filmmaker Anurag Basu has been writing it and hopefully, it will be his next film. ## Meanwhile, the talented actor denied the reports of him being approached for Sourav Ganguly's biopic. It was announced last year and there were reports that Ranbir would be playing the former Indian cricket captain. The actor was recently seen with Ganguly in Kolkata promoting TJMM. ## However, in the same video, Ranbir said that the cricketer is one of the living legends and that his biopic will be very special. However, he has not been approached for his biopic. ## After TJMM, Ranbir will be seen in director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's gangster action drama film "Animal" which is slated to release on August 11, 2023. Box Office: Selfiee First Sunday/Third Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, February 26 - Selfiee continues its struggle at the box office with early estimates suggesting approx. 4 crores net on the first Sunday which is a very low number on a holiday. There is not much to say as the numbers say all. The first Sunday collection will take the first weekend to around 10.25cr which is again a very low weekend which is not expected from an Akshay Kumar film but when a film has so much less to offer to the audience then no star can save the film.## the film will hardly collect from here and it won't be surprising that the film collects under 1cr from here on. The lifetime collections will depend on the first Monday but it does not look like the film will cross the 25cr mark that hardly matters whether the film crosses the 25 cr mark or not as the film has already emerged as a disaster at the box office.## There will be doubt about Akshay Kumar's stardom, especially after the post-pandemic era but we believe Akshay Kumar remains one of the biggest stars of the Hindi film industry and he will bounce back as soon as a universally appealing film comes. Mumbai, February 26 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has once reiterated to fulfill his fans' demand of doing more comedy and action films going forward.## Before the covid-19 pandemic, Akshay Kumar was the most successful Bollywood actor who delivered back-to-back box office hits, however, over the last couple of years during the pandemic, his films have underperformed. Mumbai, February 25 - Selfiee starring Akshay Kumar took one of the lowest openings ever featuring a major star, and there is no respite on the second day as well. The comedy-drama continues to struggle at the box office as early estimate collections suggest around 3.25-3.50 crores net on Saturday. This is probably the first time that the film has become a disaster at the box office so quickly. The film became a disaster before the day of its release only due to a lukewarm advance but the first-day collections sealed the fate of the film.## There will be growth on Sunday but the film is in a position where even 100% growth cannot stop it from becoming a disaster of epic proportions. It won't be surprising if the film finishes its first weekend around 10cr only or even lower than that when the least expectations were of a double-digit opening and here the film will struggle to hit that number in the first three days.## Akshay Kumar is one of the biggest stars of the Hindi film industry and even the naysayers will agree with that. He is a star with probably the most hit and successful films but he needs to reinvent himself now and cut down his films by at least 50%. Box Office: Selfiee Opening Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, February 24 - Selfie starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi released today. The release of the film is not as big as other Akshay Kumar releases of the past but there were expectations of good numbers from the film at least initially, but it proved all the expectations wrong and took one of the lowest openings of all time featuring a major star. There was not an expectation of the 20Cr or 25Cr mark but at least a double-digit start should have been there but is not even one-third of that. The opening day early estimates suggest around 3 crores net which is disastrous. Last week, Shehzada featuring Kartik Aryan who is an upcoming star took a disappointing opening but now that opening looks far better as it is more than a double of Selfie. The film will probably emerge as one of the lowest openings ever for Akshay Kumar and In real value, it will be the lowest ever. ## Akshay Kumar who is one of the most popular stars in the industry has struggled the most after the pandemic era. He has given a series of disasters that did not even take an opening. Forget taking an opening, the audience did not even care for his films. A genuine star like him should not be working in the films like Selifee or Bell Bottom or most of his post-pandemic films which gave a feeling of a B-grade cinema.
