Underfire Puri Jagannadh Shelved His Dream Project 'JGM' With Vijay Deverakonda?

Hyderabad, September 4 - It seems the massive big failure of Liger has put a massive dent in the confidence of director Puri Jagannadh and actor Vijay Deverakonda as they have reportedly shelved their already in production JGM: Jana Gana Mana. ## Much before the release of "Liger", the actor-director duo had announced to make another Pan India film in the form of "JGM" and it was launched grandly in Mumbai. The makers later roped in Pooja Hegde to play the female lead and the shoot had already begun as it was announced for the August 3, 2023, release. ## However, everything has changed since their much-hyped "Liger" misfired completely. "JGM" was planned to make into a much bigger budget, however, according to the latest Telugu media reports, the movie has now been shelved until they gain enough confidence to go ahead with it. ## It is said that the budget of "JGM" was too high to proceed with it after "Liger's" failure. Puri, after consulting with his production partners, decided to put the project on hold. In other news, it is said that director Puri Jagan is now looking to make a sequel to his last blockbuster "iSmart Shankar" with Ram Potheneni. ## Vijay Deverakonda, on the other hand, has resumed the shoot of his romantic comedy film "Kushi", co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu as the female lead. Box Office: Pawan Kalyan's 'Jalsa' Re-Release Worldwide Collection

Hyderabad, September 3 - Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan's all-time blockbuster Jalsa returned to the big screen to celebrate his birthday. The special shows of Trivikram Srinivas-directed action comedy were arranged across Telugu states and international locations on September 1 and 2.## "Jalsa" was re-released on over 500 shows worldwide, which is an all-time record for an Indian movie as far as the special shows are concerned. The movie also did exceptionally well at the box office and brought in higher numbers than most of the new releases opening day numbers. ## The movie collected approx. 2.60 crores gross in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, including approx. 1.26 crores from the Nizam area while the rest of India's collection of the movie is around 20 lakhs. These are all-time record collections for an Indian movie's re-release for one-day. Overseas, "Jalsa" scored approx. 30 lakh ($37600) from the USA box office from 26 locations while from 5 locations in Australia, it collected approx. 6 lakh (A$10960). ## The total worldwide collection of the film is around 3.20 crores gross, and the entire collection will be used for charity. After 'Liger' Debacle, Vijay Deverakonda's 'JGM' With Puri Jagannadh To Have Changes In Script?

Hyderabad, September 2 - The disastrous box office performance of Liger has shocked Vijay Deverakonda and director Puri Jagannadh that they have reportedly decided to make necessary changes in the script of their second collaboration JGM. ## According to the reports, the actor-director duo is revisiting and working on the script for JGM, before embarking on the Morocco schedule later this year. It is said that they are also considering the budget of the movie and want to keep it in check, unlike "Liger" which cost over 100 crores. A lot of changes are likely to happen in the script.## Meanwhile, in other news, it has been reported that after the huge failure of "Liger", Puri Jagannadh has shelved "JGM" for now and is looking to work on "iSmart Shankar 2". Tollywood Re-Introduces 8-Week Theatrical Window For All The Movies

Hyderabad, September 1 - The Tollywood film industry has re-introduced an 8-week theatrical window for all the films, releasing after September 10th. The decision was taken by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce after multiple meetings over the last couple of weeks. ## The Telugu film chamber also announced in a statement that a film's satellite and streaming partner will not be mentioned in the film titles/theatrical release publicity. ## It has been observed that filmmakers revealed their films' satellite and OTT partners before the start of the film in theaters, which may have tempted moviegoers to wait for the OTT release of the film which was within 28 days of theatrical release till now. ## The film chamber has also decided to cancel the per-day payment system for the artists/technicians from September 10th. All artists' remuneration shall include - staff, local transport, local accommodation, special food, etc. ## Meanwhile, the film chamber hasn't reached any conclusion regarding the VPF charges despite multiple meetings. Hyderabad, September 1 - Director Puri Jagannadh's long-awaited film Liger, starring Vijay Deverakonda, has proved to be a costly affair for the entire team as he turned out to be a massive disappointment at the box office. ## The sports action drama film was expected to bring a lot of money to the producers and distributors, but things didn't go as per the makers' wish as the distributors will face, at least, a 70% loss from the total investment of around 90 crores worldwide. It is reported that the distributors are in big shock as they invested a lot of money in the hope that it will give them the best return, which is not going to happen. ## However, in a gloomy time for the distributors, director Puri Jagannadh is once again coming to their rescue and taking full responsibility for the film's failure. Box Office: Blockbuster Karthikeya 2 Tops 100 Crores Gross Worldwide

Hyderabad, August 31 - Actor Nikhil Siddhartha's mystery action-adventure film Karthikeya 2 has entered the coveted 100 crores gross club at the worldwide box office with today's collection, becomes only the 4th Telugu movie of 2022 to achieve the milestone after Bheemla Nayan, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, and RRR. ## Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, "Karthikeya 2" has had trouble getting released in theaters but it overcame all the challenges to become one of the biggest blockbusters in Telugu cinema. Vijay Deverakonda's 'Liger' Fails Badly To Do Justice To The Massive Hype

Mumbai, August 30 - Vijay Deverakonda had a chance to include himself in the elite league of Telugu stars and could have extended Tollywood's dominance at the box office with his sports action drama, Liger, but things turned out otherwise. ## The Puri Jagannadh-directed film was one of the most hyped Indian films of 2022 and it could have made big even with the mixed reception, but Alas!... it opened to one of the poorest responses in 2022 from audiences and critics which dismissed its chance to score big on the opening day itself. ## "Liger" took the biggest opening for Vijay Deverakonda's film, but from the second day onwards, the movie crashed badly and couldn't grow further, even on Sunday. The movie had a rare chance to hold on to the lower level on weekdays, but even that didn't happen as it scored approx. 1.40 crores on Monday for all languages and officially becomes one of the biggest disasters of the year. ## Vijay Deverakonda promoted the film aggressively across the country and it looked like the movie will become a big blockbuster. SSMB28: Mahesh Babu To Commence The Shooting Of Trivikram's Film From September 8

Hyderabad, August 30 - Superstar Mahesh Babu reunites with blockbuster director Trivikram Srinivas for his next film, tentatively titled SSMB28. The movie has Pooja Hegde in the female lead role and this marks her second film with Babu after Maharshi. ## "SSMB28" has been in the pre-production work for quite some time now and was supposed to kickstart the filming in August 2022. However, due to the pause of Telugu films to discuss various issues, the movie couldn't go on the floors as scheduled.## According to the latest reports, the makers are finally ready to take the movie on the ground and start shooting on September 8, 2022. Mahesh Babu will reportedly be a part of the first 25-day schedule of an action sequence in Ramoji Film City. Pooja Hegde will not be a part of the first schedule and will join the team in either October or November. ## It is said that Mahesh Babu has asked Trivikram to complete the shoot of the film as soon as possible as he has his next film with SS Rajamouli which is being planned to start filming early next year. Box Office: Karthikeya 2 Becomes The 10th Highest-Grossing South Indian Film In Hindi

Mumbai, August 29 - Telugu blockbuster Karthikeya 2 continues to mint money at the box office and is racing towards the 100 crores mark at the box office. In the dubbed Hindi version, the Nikhil Siddharth-starrer film has become the 10th biggest South Indian grosser of all time. ## Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the mystical action adventure film witnessed a solid hold over the third weekend and scored 4.42 crores net. The total net collection of the movie in the Hindi version has now reached approx. 25 crores, which makes it the 10th biggest South Indian film in the dubbed/direct Hindi version. ## "Karthikeya 2" has overtaken R Madhavan's "Rocketry: The Nambi Effect", which was a Hindi-Tamil bilingual movie, to become the 10th biggest film. Mumbai, August 27 - Vijay Deverakonda's sports action drama Liger collets in the similar range as Friday on its first Saturday at the domestic box office, scoring an estimated 7.50-8.50 crores net for all languages. The Puri Jagannadh could have dropped further but got the benefit of tomorrow being a Sunday. The Hindi version once again collects more than the Telugu's with an estimated 4.50-5 crores net. Box Office: Karthikeya 2 Overtakes Radhe Shyam In Hindi

Mumbai, August 26 - Actor Nikhil Siddhartha's blockbuster Karthikeya 2 has surpassed Prabhas and Pooja Hegde's Radhe Shyam's lifetime collection in Hindi languages. Radhe Shyam, which was released earlier in March this year, couldn't do justice to Prabhas' stardom in the Hindi version and ended up collecting only approx. 19.50 crores net. ## "Karthikeya 2", which opened to nothing numbers of just 7 lakh but grow significantly with each passing day after getting excellent reviews and super positive word of mouth. It scored 5.75 crores net in the opening week, followed by 13.52 crores (+235%) net in the second week. The total Hindi collection of the movie after 14 days reached 20.11 crores.## There is no comparison between Radhe Shyam and Karthikeya 2 as the Prabhas-starrer movie was made on a huge budget and scale against K2, which has been made at a fraction of the budget of RS. However, it was the content, where Radhe Shyam fell flat whereas Karthikey 2 has been hailed as one of the best Telugu films of the year, resulting in, it also making huge noise in the dubbed Hindi version as well. ## Directed by Chandoo Mondeti and produced by Abhishek Agarwal and T.G.Vishwa Prasad, "Karthikeya 2" is following the trend of Allu Arjun's "Pushpa - The Rise" in the Hindi version. Box Office: Vijay Deverakonda's 'Liger' Underperformed Despite Record Opening

Hyderabad, August 26 - Vijay Deverakonda's sports action drama Liger was released in theaters yesterday (August 25) and it was a day of mixed feelings for the makers. ## Directed by Puri Jagannadh, "Liger" opened to record-breaking (as expected) box office numbers for a tier-2 Telugu film, but at the same time, the makers must be preparing themselves for what they are going to get in the future, at least for the most important Telugu version. ## "Liger", which had a very good pre-release buzz, remained underwhelming despite taking the biggest opening for Vijay Deverakonda with an AP/TG share collection of 9.14 crores, worldwide is approx. 24 crores. ## Puri Jagannadh described the movie as his best project to date, however, upon its release, the film got very poor reviews from critics while the audience's word of mouth is also not so encouraging which is clearly visible in the opening day numbers that were expected to be around at least 35 crores worldwide. ## The future of this Pan India film is looking blink, especially knowing the fact that the stakes involved in it are high. Hyderabad, August 24 - The booming Telugu box office is set to get a further boost with the much-anticipated release of heartthrob Vijay Deverakonda's Liger, scheduled to hit worldwide theaters on August 25.
