Box Office: Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2' North America Premiere Advance Sales Details

Los Angeles, July 11 - Kamal Haasan's vigilante action film Indian 2 is set for a good start at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. The pre-sales of the movie have been picking up with just a day to go before the release which is July 12. ## Apart from the domestic pre-sales, Shankar's directorial movie has managed to generate good advance sales for the North American premiere. According to Venky Box Office, the NA premiere pre-sales of Indian 2 is $650K (5.45 crores), including $580K (4.85 crores) in the USA alone after the big jump yesterday.## In the USA, Indian 2 has sold approximately 28K tickets from over 1450 shows at 484 locations for the premiere which is on tomorrow. The movie is heading for an all-time top 5 premiere day for a Tamil title and the biggest for Kamal Haasan and director Shankar. ## Meanwhile, at the Indian box office, Indian 2 has so far scored approximately 10+ crores gross pre-sales (with block seats) in all versions for the opening day. The sales have picked up nicely over the last 24 hours and it is expected to show a further jump on the last day before release.## Indian 2 is produced by Lyca Productions, and it stars Kamal Haasan, reprising his role as Senapathy, an ageing freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights against corruption, with Siddharth, S. Chennai, July 2 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has become the first Tamil movie of 2024 to top 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office. It has surpassed horror-comedy, Aranmanai 4 which fell a little short of the 100 crores mark at an estimated around 99 crores. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja cleared the 100 crores worldwide gross in its third weekend in which it grossed approximately 4.50 crores, despite Kalki 2898 AD having a strong debut in Tamil Nadu with over 20 crores gross. ## After 17 days, the total domestic collection of Maharaja is an estimated 76+ crores gross while the overseas total is around 24 crores, for 100+ crores worldwide cume. The movie is expected to finish its box office run around 105 crores worldwide. ## The Tamil film industry has struggled in the first half of 2024 with a couple of box office hits which also include Aranmanai 4 and Garudan along with Thalapathy Vijay's re-released Ghilli in the last few weeks. Chennai, July 1 - As Thalapathy Vijay is gearing up for the release of The Greatest of All Time, preparations are being made for his 69th film which will be his last movie before he fully centres his focus on his political career. ## There hasn't been made official yet about Thalapathy 69, but as per reliable reports, the movie will be directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions. Hyderabad, June 22 - Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD is set to hit the big screens on June 27 amid massive expectations. The second trailer, which was launched on June 21, has raised excitement among the fans and trade which is expecting the movie to do wonders at the box office. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD has managed to do a huge worldwide theatrical business as the makers locked record deals for all major areas. According to T2BLive.com, the worldwide business of the film has been valued at 370 crores with a break-even target is 372 crores. ## Kalki will need to score over 700 crores gross collection to emerge as a clean hit and if it does not reach its target mark, the makers will need to return the balance amount to buyers to make for their losses, however, the film is expected to project to become one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema.## In Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), Kalki 2898 AD theatrical business has been valued at 168 crores, including 65 crores in Nizam, 27 crores in Ceeded, 21 crores in UA, 14 and 10 crores in East and West, respectively, 12 crores each for Guntur and Krishna and 7 crores for Nallore area. It will need to gross 270+ crores in AP-TG to break even. ## The North India theatrical business has been valued at 85 crores (170 crores gross), followed by 28 crores for Karnataka, 16 crores for Tamil Nadu, and 6 crores for Kerala while the overseas business is 70 crores. Chennai, June 17 - The Tamil film industry has returned to winning ways with a fourth success within two months at the domestic box office. After no-hit for the first four months of the year, the industry scored first hit in horror-comedy Aranmanai 4, followed by Garudan. Now, Vijay Setupathi's Maharaja joins the list. ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja was released on June 14 and scored an excellent first weekend at the domestic box office with approximately 25.15 crores gross mark, which is the second biggest opening weekend for a Tamil movie of 2024, behind Dhanush's Captain Miller. ## Maharaja opened to an estimated 5.40 crores gross collection, including 1.20 crores in Telugu. The action thriller witnessed a big jump of over 60% on Saturday to score an estimated 9 crores gross, and there was a further jump of around 20% on Sunday for around 10.75 crores gross. ## The Tamil version of Maharaja has minted an estimated 19 crores gross while the Telugu version has grossed approximately 6 crores gross. The movie surpassed expectations after opening to excellent reviews and audience word of mouth. ## Maharaja is expected to have another solid day today due to the Bakrid holiday. Chennai, June 14 - Actor Soori's action thriller Garudan has emerged as a big success and has entered the 50 crores club at the worldwide box office in 15 days. The movie joined horror-comedy, Aranmanai 4 as the only Tamil movie of 2024 to score success at the box office. ## Directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar, Garudan has grossed approximately 50.65 crores worldwide, including approx. 42.65 crores in India and an estimated 8 crores at the overseas box office in 15 days. It is currently the 4th highest-grossing Kollywood film of the year, behind Aranmanai 4, Ayalaan, and Captain Miller. ## Garudan received positive reception from critics and audiences upon its release on May 31st. The movie scored 4+ crores gross on its first day and remained solid throughout the first week to earn 27+ crores gross in India. Chennai, June 3 - After the big success of Aranmanai 4, the Tamil film industry has another movie doing well at the box office in the form of actor Soori's action thriller Garudan, directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar. ## Released on May 31st, Garudan had a very good opening weekend at the domestic box office with a gross collection of approximately 17 crores in 3 days. It scored the third biggest opening weekend for a Tamil movie of 2023, behind Captain Miller and Aranmanai 4. ## Garudan opened to a good collection of approximately 4 crores gross, before showing a jump of around 38% on its second day for approx. 5.60 crores gross, followed by another jump of 29% on Sunday for approx. 7.25 crores. Chennai, May 29 - In October last year, Tamil star Suriya and director Sudha Kongara reunited after Soorarai Pottru for a real-life inspired film, tentatively titled Suriya 43. The movie was announced with solid casting, including Dulquer Salmaan, Nazriya Fahadh, and Vijay Varma. ## The shooting of Suriya 43 was supposed to commence by early this year but there has been no development since the announcement. Now, according to a report by Only Kollywood, the movie has been put on hold indefinitely for some unknown reasons and is not happening anytime soon. ## It is said that Sudha Kongara is now working on her new project which is said to be another intense drama with actor Sivakarthikeyan. However, nothing is confirmed yet but Sivakarthikeyan has reportedly shown interest in the movie to do it. ## Meanwhile, Sudha Kongara is gearing up for the release of her Bollywood debut movie Sarfira, which is the remake of Soorarai Pottru. Sarfira stars Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Radhika Madan in prominent roles and is scheduled to release in July this year. ## Suriya, on the other hand, has the pan-India movie Kanguva with director Siva.
