James Gunn Hints At A DC-Marvel Crossover In The Future

Los Angeles, April 7 - It has been a dream of Superhero fans to see the superheroes of DC Universe and Marvel teaming up one day. It is a question that can't be answered by any other than someone who has worked in both camps closely, and that is maverick filmmaker James Gunn who is also now the co-head of DC Studios. ## In comics, the characters of DC and Marvel have crossed each other's paths such as Spider-Man teamed with Superman and Batman, The Hulk battled Batman, and even the Silver Surfer met Superman, among others.## Now, according to James Gunn, the crossover of these superheroes is not a far-fetched dream, especially since he is now in charge at DC Studio. However, this is not gonna happen anytime soon but definitely someday or maybe before his tenure ends.## In their latest issue, Empire quoted (via Deadline) Gunn's take on the matches as a definite maybe. "I'm certain that's more likely now that I'm in charge [at DC]", Gunn told the magazine, "Who knows?" However, "That's many years away, though. I think we have to establish what we're doing [at DC] first".## The filmmaker further said that they have discussed the crossover films of DC and Marvel "but all discussions have been very, very light and fun".## Meanwhile, James Gunn is currently busy with the promotion of his last Marvel project (at least for now) "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3" which is slated to release on May 5. Phars Films Bags Overseas Rights of Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' In All-Time Record Price

Chennai, April 4 - Thalapathy Vijay's gangster action drama Leo with director Lokesh Kanagaraj has turned blockbuster even before the release. The makers have reportedly sold the theatrical and non-theatrical rights in never heard before prices in Tamil cinema. ## It was previously reported that the non-theatrical rights of the movie have been sold in approx. 240 crores, including digital rights to Netflix for approx. 120 crores in all languages. Thalapathy Vijay's box office market, especially overseas has witnessed a sharp rise over the last few years. ## Considering the huge anticipation for the movie and the blockbuster combo of Thalapathy and Lokesh among the audiences, the makers were reportedly demanding a huge price for the film's overseas rights. It is said that the asking price was close to 70 crores, and as per the latest reports, the overseas deal has been locked. ## According to trade reports, Phars Films which has distributed some of the biggest Indian blockbusters has grabbed overseas theatrical rights. While the makers were demanding approx. 70 crores, reports say that the deal has been locked for approx. 60 crores, which is an all-time record for a Tamil tentpole. ## The total pre-release business of Leo is around 410 crores, including worldwide theatrical rights of approx. 175 crores. These are the numbers confirmed by trusted industry sources to multiple leading media outlets. ## Leo is produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar, under Seven Screen Studio, and co-produced by Jagadish Palanisamy. Chennai, April 2 - Tamil star Suriya is currently busy shooting for the period action drama film, titled Kanguva under the direction of Siruthai Siva. The movie has been in production since the last year and there is massive anticipation among the fans for it. ## Produced by Studio Green and UV Creations, "Kanguva" has Disha Patani as the female lead and this is the first time she is sharing screen space with the Tamil star. Meanwhile, the movie is super hot in the trade and is expected to become Suriya's biggest blockbuster ever. ## While the movie is slated for 2024 release in as many as 10 languages, the makers have already sold the post-theatrical streaming rights. Chennai, April 2 - After the blockbuster maiden collaboration with Master, Thalapathy Vijay, and director Lokesh Kanagaraj reunite for an action thriller film titled Leo. The movie is reportedly part of Kanagaraj's LCU which also features Karthi's Kaithi and Kamal Haasan's Vikram. ## The shoot of Leo commenced earlier this year and it is going on at a brisk pace. During a recent event, director Lokesh revealed that 50% of the shoot is already completed, and around only 60 days of the shooting are pending.## He said that the movie is an intense actioner that consists of mass dialogue. The filmmaker promised another blockbuster with the Tamil superstar. He has co-written the script with Rathna Kumar and Deeraj Vaidy. ## Leo is produced by S. S. The movie, which was announced a long time back before rolling in 2017, faced multiple delays due to financial issues. ## The remaining shoot of "Dhruva Natchathiram" was resumed last year and it got finally wrapped on March 15, 2023. Chennai, March 5 - Tamil star Dhanus's action drama Vaathi/SIR has crossed 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office, becoming only the second film of the actor to reach the mark. ## The Venky Atluri-directed Tamil-Telugu bilingual flick has taken just 17 days to reach the box office milestone. It grossed approx. 99.50 crores through the third Saturday (16 days) and is expected to collect approx. 2 crores gross on 3rd Sunday to take the movie past the 100 crores mark. ## "Vaathi" has grossed approx. 43.50 crores domestically so far while its Telugu version ("Sir") has minted approx. 34.50 crores gross for total domestic cume to 78 crores. Chennai, March 4 - Tamil star Dhanush has another major win at the box office as his latest Tamil-Telugu blockbuster Vaathi/SIR is set to enter the 100 crores club at the global box office.## Directed by Venky Atluri, the action drama film has grossed approx. 97.50 crores worldwide, including approx. 75.50 crores at the domestic box office in 15 days. Chennai, March 1 - The blockbuster box office clash on Pongal 2023, Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu and Ajith Kumar's Thunivu have completed 50 days in theaters, a sort of achievement in the post covid-19 pandemic era. ## Released on January 11 in multiple languages, both films have turned into successful ventures for the makers, with "Varisu" emerging as a Pongal winner with a difference of close to 100 crores gross globally. Both movies bring in approx. 500 crores box office collection globally. ## Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, "Varisu" has grossed approx. 299 crores worldwide in 50 days. Domestically, the family action entertainer has generated approx. 210 crores in all languages, including approx. 175 crores in the original Tamil version. ## At the Tamil Nadu box office, the movie grossed approx. 143 crores so far, followed by approx. 26 crores in Telugu states. "Varisu" also has done pretty well overseas, grossing approx. 89 crores. It is the second highest-grossing film of Thalapathy Vijay after "Bigil" globally and turned into a superhit. ## Meanwhile, Ajith Kumar-fronted heist action thriller "Thunivu" started its journey on a strong note, matching the numbers of "Varisu" in the first few days but legged behind the letter in longevity. However, the movie has made the most of the opportunity it got in the form of the Pongal holidays. ## The H. Vinoth-directed flick has minted approx. 201 crores worldwide in 50 days, including approx. 145 crores at the domestic box office.
