Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan To Reunite After 32 Years

Chennai, June 11 - The stalwarts of Indian cinema, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan are all set to reunite for a feature film after 32 long years. The duo has worked together in films like "Hum", "Andhaa Kaanoon", and "Geraftaar" to deliver memorable performances. ## According to the latest reports, the icons of Indian cinema will be coming together for a film, to be directed by "Jai Bhim" director TJ Gnanavel and to be produced by Lyca Productions. The movie will reportedly feature Rajinikanth in the lead role while Big B will play an important role in "Thalaivar 170". ## The official announcement regarding the casting of Amitabh Bachchan is yet to be made but reports say that the legendary actor is very much a part of the film. The last time Rajinikanth and Big B were seen together was in "Hum" which was released in 1991. ## Rajinikanth is currently shooting for "Lal Salaam" in which he is playing a cameo role. Kochi, June 8 - Sree Gokulam Movies has acquired theatrical rights to another Tamil biggie, superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer to distribute across the Kerala state. ## One of the leading distribution studios in Kerala, Gokulam Movies recently grabbed Thalapathy Vijay's highly-awaited Pan India movie "Leo" at an all-time record price of 16 crores. Vijay has a huge following in Kerala which helped the makers to crack such a big deal. ## Now, superstar Rajinikanth's action-comedy "Jailer" will also be released by the same studio, according to the Kerala trade source AB George. The studio has reportedly paid a good amount of 5.50 crores for the same as a minimum guarantee royalty. ## "Jailer" is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures. Kochi, May 30 - The Gokulam Movies has reportedly acquired the theatrical rights of Thalapathy Vijay's highly-anticipated Pan India movie Leo in the state. The company was in a race with Kerala's prominent theater association, Film Exhibitors United Organisation Of Kerala (FEUOK) to grab the theatrical rights. ## According to the Kerala trade expert AB George, Gokulam Movies grabbed rights for 16 crores as minimum guarantee royalty to acquire the distribution rights of the film in the state. This is the biggest distribution deal ever for a non-Malayalam movie in Kerala, beating "2.O".## Thalapathy Vijay has crazy fan-following among the Kerala audiences and has a very good track record as far as box office success is concerned in the state. "Leo" is easily the biggest movie of the actor yet and there is a genuine curiosity among the moviegoers for the same. ## Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, "Leo" has been a hot topic in the trade and the makers have reportedly fetched over 400 crores from its theatrical and digital rights overseas, making it the biggest deal ever for a Tamil movie.## The hotly-awaited movie marks the second collaboration of Thalapathy Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj after the blockbuster "Master". Chennai, May 21 - Amid the speculations, filmmaker Venkat Prabhu has officially been confirmed to direct Thalapathy Vijay's next, tentatively titled Thalapathy 68. The movie will be produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram's AGS Entertainment while Yuvan Shankar Raja is on board to compose the music. ## "Thalapathy 68" marks the maidan collaboration between Thalapathy Vijay and director Venkat Prabhu, who recently directed Tamil-Telugu bilingual movie "Custody" starring Naga Chaitanya. AGS Entertainment, which previously produced Thalapathy Vijay's blockbuster "Bigil", is excited about the second collaboration. ## "This will be AGS's biggest film so far. It'll be an entertainer that will be loved by all audiences. While Thalapathy Vijay plays the title release, the movie boosts with a solid star cast which includes Sanjay Dutt, and Trisha Krishnan, among others. ## Now, according to Pinkvilla, Sanjay Dutt will be seen playing the role of Thalapathy Vijay's father in the movie. Chennai, May 10 - Blockbuster filmmaker Mani Ratnam's historical action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 has crossed the 300 crores mark at the worldwide box office, becoming the first Tamil and the second Indian movie of the year to reach the milestone. ## The second of two cinematic parts based on the 1954 novel Ponniyin Selvan by Kalki Krishnamurthy reached the triple-century mark on its 11th day, 5 days more than the first part last year. "PS-2" has underperformed compared to the first part but it still has done well enough to be called a successful venture.## The total worldwide collection of "PS-2" is around 304 crores worldwide in 12 days, including 187 crores domestically and around 117 crores overseas. The first had grossed around 490 crores in its lifetime run, including 315 crores domestically and 175 crores overseas.## "PS-2" has done well at the Tamil Nadu box office with around 114 crores gross, becoming the third film of the year after "Varisu" and "Thunivu" to breach the 100 crores mark in the state. Chennai, May 7 - Mani Ratnam's historical action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 is continuing with its strong performance at the domestic as well as overseas box office. ## The second and final part of "Ponniyin Selvan" is nearing 300 crores, currently stands at around 282 crores in 9 days, at the worldwide box office, and is likely to reach there by today or tomorrow. The first part, which was released in September last year, grossed close to 500 crores worldwide and the second part is also turning out to be a big money spinner. ## Meanwhile, "PS-2" has crossed 100 crores gross collection in Tamil Nadu, becoming the 3rd film of the year to do so after Thalapathy Vijay's "Varisu" and Ajith Kumar's "Thunivu". Mani Ratnam's directorial reached the 100 crores mark on its 9th day and currently stands at a little over 102 crores. ## "PS-1" had taken just 5 days to breach the 100 crores gross mark and went on to gross over 200 crores in Tamil Nadu. It is the only film in the history of Indian cinema to breach the double-century mark in the state. One More Film Set Against The Backdrop of KGF Is In The Works

Chennai, May 2 - The Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) has inspired South Indian filmmakers to make larger-than-life films against its backdrop. ## Yash-fronted "KGF" is already a record-breaking film franchise and there is Chiyaan Vikram-starrer "Thangalaan" is currently in the making, based on the true events that revolve around the lives of mine workers in the Kolar Gold Fields.## Now, Tamil director Vetrimaaran is reportedly working on a story set against the KGF backdrop and is likely to reunite with Dhanush for the same. The duo has already worked together on some of the most critically hailed films like Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Vada Chennai, and Asuran. ## Producer KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, producer of "Thangalaan", has reportedly confirmed a new KGF-based film with Vetrimaaran and Dhanush (according to indiaherald.com). "On the basis of his historical research and results, he (Vetrimaaran) will create a movie. And based on the study he conducted, Pa Ranjith completed Thangalaan, according to Gnanavel. ## The movie in question, however, is unlikely to start anytime soon as Vetrimaaran already has a couple of films in the pipeline. He will be finishing "Viduthalai - Part 2" before moving to the long-awaited "Vaadivasal" with Suriya.
