Chennai, April 28 - The second part of filmmaker Mani Ratnam's period drama film Ponniyin Selvan has been released in theaters today, nearly 7 months after the first part hit big screens and turned into one of the biggest blockbusters of Tamil cinema history. ## Produced by Ratnam and Subaskaran Allirajah under Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, Ponniyin Selvan is the cinematic adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name. Chennai, April 23 - Tamil star Sivakrathikeyan's long-awaited science-fiction adventure movie Ayalaan with director R. Ravikumar is finally getting a big update tomorrow, the makers officially announced via Twitter. ## "Ayalaan" has been in production since 2018 and after many delays, the shoot was wrapped up in late 2022. Now, the makers have revealed that "Ayalaan" will have the Pan India release, first for actor Sivakrathikeyan, and they are working hard on VFX to make it a perfect Pan Indian release.## The producer of the film, KJR Studios, shared a statement on Twitter and revealed that "Ayalaan" is a passion sci-fi project which needed time to achieve perfection. Sivakarthikeyan's 'Maaveeran' Gets A Release Date

Chennai, April 22 - Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan's Tamil-Telugu bilingual movie Maaveeran/Mahaveerudu with "Mandela" director Madonne Ashwin has been confirmed to hit theaters on August 11, 2023. ## The makers announced the release date with a video that features behind-the-scene vignettes from the making of the movie. The film's Telugu title is Mahaveerudu. It is produced by Arun Viswa under Shanthi Talkies. ## Sivakarthikeyan has already wrapped up filming his portions for "Maaveeran", in which he reportedly essays the role of a cartoonist and will be seen performing some high-level action sequences in the film. Hyderabad, April 11 - Telugu superstar Jr. NTR is the talk of the town after it was revealed that he would be headlining Yash Raj Films' mega movie "War 2" along with Hrithik Roshan. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, "War 2" will mark Jr. NTR's much-awaited debut in Bollywood. ## Apart from his Bollywood debut, the "RRR" star was also in news recently regarding his rumored collaboration with Tamil director Vetrimaaran. It was reported that the maverick filmmaker was in talks with Jr. NTR for a two-hero film but nothing was confirmed then. ## Now, putting rumors to rest, the filmmaker has himself confirmed that he is indeed in talks with the superstar. Vetrimaaran is busy promoting the Telugu version of his recently released crime action thriller "Viduthalai Part 1" and during the media interaction in Hyderabad, he opened up about the recent rumors. ## Vatrimaaran revealed that he met Jr. NTR during the post-lockdown period to discuss a project and the talks are ongoing in the right direction. It is gearing up to release later this year. Now, there is some good news regarding the release of his highly-awaited sci-fi adventure movie Ayalaan. ## Directed by R. Ravikumar, Ayalaan has been in production since 2018. It was, however, put on hold due to financial issues and other commitments of Sivakarthikeyan before the shoot resumed in early 2019. It again got delayed due to multiple reasons and the covid-19 pandemic. ## The shoot finally wrapped in late 2022 and the film is currently in the post-production stage. There have been many inquiries about the film's release, and according to Pinkvilla, the big-scale sci-fi adventure is set to release on the occasion of Diwali this year. The team feels Ayalaan is a perfect fit to entertain the audience during the Diwali weekend. ## One of the biggest Tamil films in the making, Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 with director Shankar also went through similar hurdles as Ayalaan. It came back on track in 2022 after all the issues got sorted and now, the shoot is nearing its end. An important schedule was recently concluded in Taiwan and the team will now be heading to South Africa to commence the next schedule. ## There have been rumors about "Indian 2" releasing this year itself, however, according to the latest reports, director Shankar and others are targeting to release the film on Pongal 2024 as it is unlikely to get ready for this year's release since Shankar is also directing Ram Charan's "Game Changer". Call it insane or anything, Super Mario Bros. will cross the entire domestic run of Marvel Studios' "Ant-Man 3's" $213 million in just 6 days to become the biggest movie of 2023. ## Overseas, the movie grossed a gigantic $173 million over 70 markets. Los Angeles, April 8 - Star Wars movies are back, finally!## Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that three new Star Wars movies are officially in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter. These films get officially announced at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, held in London on April 7. ## The three new films will be directed by James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. As per THR, Mangold's movie will go back to the dawn of the Jedi and would look at the origins of the Force and be set 25,000 years before any of the timelines and stories told by the movies and shows so far.## Dave Filoni's Star Wars film will focus on the New Republic, and close out the interconnected stories told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and other Disney+ series while a film Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be set after the events of Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, and feature Daisy Ridley as Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order. ## Ridley's character, Rey, finished the 2019 movie ("Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker") by taking on the last name of Skywalker, a nod to carrying on the legacy of Luke and Leia Skywalker as she became a fully realized Jedi. Movie is set to outshine the initial box office projections ($225+ million worldwide), that too by a huge margin. ## Based on Nintendo's Mario video game franchise, "Super Mario Bros." has already grossed $120.7 million at the global box office in just 2 days, and with Friday - Sunday weekend due, the movie is looking to go beyond $350 million mark in the extended 5-day opening weekend. ## At the domestic (North America) box office, Super Mario Bros. had the biggest opening day ever for a video game adaptation feature with a mighty $31.7 million on Wednesday, followed by the historic Thursday with $26.5 million (the biggest Thursday ever for an animated movie).## The movie started the weekend after grossing a mammoth $55 million Friday, the biggest non-opening Friday ever.
