It was the last time when celebrity siblings in the Tamil industry came together for a film after delivering multiple hits together. ## In the past, the possibility of a sequel to "Thani Oruvan" was announced but the movie couldn't be launched. The duo of Jayam and Mohan have talked about reuniting for "Thani Oruvan 2" on multiple stages, and it seems, things are finally heading in the right direction. ## Last month, Jayam Ravi revealed that "Thani Oruvan 2" is taking to materialize, and now, director Mohan Raja has also himself confirmed the same. Chennai, March 5 - Tamil star Dhanus's action drama Vaathi/SIR has crossed 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office, becoming only the second film of the actor to reach the mark. ## The Venky Atluri-directed Tamil-Telugu bilingual flick has taken just 17 days to reach the box office milestone. It grossed approx. 99.50 crores through the third Saturday (16 days) and is expected to collect approx. 2 crores gross on 3rd Sunday to take the movie past the 100 crores mark. ## "Vaathi" has grossed approx. 43.50 crores domestically so far while its Telugu version ("Sir") has minted approx. 34.50 crores gross for total domestic cume to 78 crores. The overseas collection of the film is approx. 22.50 crores, which is excellent for Dhanush-starrer. ## Produced by Sithara Entertainment, Srikara Studios, and Fortune Four Cinemas, "Vaathi/SIR" is having close numbers in Tamil Nadu and Telugu states. Chennai, March 4 - Tamil star Dhanush has another major win at the box office as his latest Tamil-Telugu blockbuster Vaathi/SIR is set to enter the 100 crores club at the global box office.## Directed by Venky Atluri, the action drama film has grossed approx. 97.50 crores worldwide, including approx. 75.50 crores at the domestic box office in 15 days. It will be breaching the 100 crores mark at the end of the 3rd weekend and will become only the second film of Dhanush to achieve the feat.## "Vaathi" (Tamil version) has done very well so far, grossing approx. 42 crores domestically while its Telugu version (Sir) is equally impressive with approx. 33.50 crores. Chennai, March 1 - The blockbuster box office clash on Pongal 2023, Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu and Ajith Kumar's Thunivu have completed 50 days in theaters, a sort of achievement in the post covid-19 pandemic era. ## Released on January 11 in multiple languages, both films have turned into successful ventures for the makers, with "Varisu" emerging as a Pongal winner with a difference of close to 100 crores gross globally. Both movies bring in approx. 500 crores box office collection globally. ## Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, "Varisu" has grossed approx. 299 crores worldwide in 50 days. Domestically, the family action entertainer has generated approx. 210 crores in all languages, including approx. 175 crores in the original Tamil version. ## At the Tamil Nadu box office, the movie grossed approx. 143 crores so far, followed by approx. 26 crores in Telugu states. "Varisu" also has done pretty well overseas, grossing approx. 89 crores. It is the second highest-grossing film of Thalapathy Vijay after "Bigil" globally and turned into a superhit. ## Meanwhile, Ajith Kumar-fronted heist action thriller "Thunivu" started its journey on a strong note, matching the numbers of "Varisu" in the first few days but legged behind the letter in longevity. Chennai, February 26 - The Tamil film industry witnessed one of the best years at the box office in 2022. It was the year that witnessed some of the top Indian grosser coming from Tamil cinema, in the form of "Vikram", "Ponniyin Selvan - 1", and "Beast", among others. ## After such a massive year, the Tamil industry is now looking to aim high in 2023 with some of the most-anticipated films at the Pan India level lined up for release. One of the films that are the hottest in the trade is Thalapathy Vijay's gangster drama Leo with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. ## "Leo" is arguably the most-anticipated Tamil film of the year. It marks Thalapathy Vijay's second collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj after the blockbuster "Master". Despite not much having been revealed yet about the film, there is already a huge demand for it in the trade. ## It was recently revealed that the makers have sold the non-theatrical rights of "Leo" at a record price. Now, according to Pinkvilla, the entire theatrical and non-theatrical rights of the movie have been closed at unheard prices. ## The total pre-release business including satellite, digital, music, and theatrical rights of the film is over 400 crores, which is the highest ever for a Tamil title. The worldwide theatrical rights have been locked at approx. 175 crores, including approx. 50 crores for overseas. ## Thalapathy Vijay is the only actor to have 5 films with over 60 crores share collection in Tamil Nadu state, and his upcoming movie has been valued at approx. 75 crores. The asking price for Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are approx. 35 crore while the rest of India is pegged at a sum of 15 crores. ## The non-theatrical rights of "Leo" have been sold for approx. 240 crores. The digital rights are with Netflix which acquired for approx. 120 crores (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada). Sun TV has bought the satellite rights of T67 for approx. 70 crores, while Sony Music has been announced as the Music Partner and it paid approx. 18 crores for the same. Chennai, February 20 - Tamil star Dhanush is back in the form with his latest bilingual blockbuster film Vaathi/Sir. Directed by Venkry Atluri, the action drama film has completed its opening weekend with an excellent box office collection worldwide. ## The movie was released on February 17 and got positive reviews from critics and audiences. It opened to fantastic 11.4 crores gross, before jumping on Saturday for 13.7 crores gross while Sunday witnessed another jump for 14.20 crores gross in Tamil and Telugu languages. ## The domestic opening weekend of Vaathi/Sir saw 39.30 crores in both versions, becoming Dhanush's biggest opening weekend collection film. While the Tamil version was expected to perform well, the Telugu version surprised with the excellent collection.## In Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), SIR scored 16.40 crores gross in the first three days which is bigger than most of the recent Telugu films' lifetime collections.
