The project, which will be produced by one of the top Tamil production studios Lyca Production, marks Shivan's maiden collaboration with AK. ## Lyca Productions took to Twitter on Friday (March 18) to announce the film adding that the music will be scored by Anirudh Ravichandran. Chennai, March 6 - Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram is winning mixed to positive responses for his recently released action thriller film, "Mahaan", which debuted directly on Amazon Prime Video. The actor is now gearing up for the blockbuster summer with two new releases. ## The "Anniyan" actor will next be seen in the sci-fi action thriller, "Cobra", which marks former Indian cricket, Irfan Pathan's film debut. Directed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu, the movie features Chiyaan Vikram as a mathematician in close to 8 appearances. ## Produced by Seven Screen Studios, "Cobra" will be released on May 26th and it may have a theatrical debut unlike Vikram's "Mahaan". Director Gnanamuthu recently confirmed the release date but he didn't provide the release platform. The industry reports, however, are hinting at its theatrical release first. ## "Cobra" has been in production for a long time. It was originally scheduled for a release coinciding with the Eid Al-Fitr weekend, falling on 22 May 2020. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the production of the film was halted which forced the makers to postpone the release indefinitely. ## The movie also stars Srinidhi Shetty as the female lead, which marks her Tamil debut, apart from Sarjano Khalid, Miya, Roshan Mathew, K. Chennai, March 2 - Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's long-awaited, "Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1" gets its release in theaters. The epic historical fiction film based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name will be hitting worldwide theaters on September 30, in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, languages. ## "PS1" is produced by Mani Ratnam, under his production studio Madras Talkies, along with Allirajah Subaskaran's Lyca Productions. Chennai, February 26 - Tamil action thriller, "Valimai", starring Ajith Kumar has opened with a bang at the box office, breaking several past records. ## Released on Feb. 24, the H Vinoth-directed has set a new record in Tamil Nadu, netting Rs. 25.30 crores on the first day. Producer Boney Kapoor has said in a recent interview that the film has come out as the best day one opening in TN on a non-holiday.## While "Valimai" mostly received a positive response from critics and audiences alike, the makers have taken note of the film's critical part, which is its prolonged run-time, especially in the second half. According to reports, Ajith Kumar, producer Boney Kapoor, and director Vinoth have taken the feedback seriously and have decided to trim the film by 14 minutes in order to make it racier. ## It is said that the Hindi version of the film gets trimmed by 15 minutes while the other version faces a 14-minutes trimming, including 2 minutes from the first half and 12 minutes from the second half. The reports state that makers have also decided to remove the first song, Naanga Vera Maari from the Hindi version. The original version was 179 minutes long which has now been reduced to 165 minutes (2 hours 45 minutes). ## "Valimai" has been praised for its high octane action sequence which, many believe, are on par with Hollywood films. Pan India biggie, "KGF: Chapter 2" will be released on April 14 and clashing with Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil blockbuster "Beast" at the box office. ## Now, according to industry insiders, Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's "Vikram" is also looking for an April release. The action thriller, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is nearing its shoot completion, with just ten days of shoot left in the bag.## It is reported that the climax action sequence between Kamal Haasan and Vijay Sethupathi was recently completed which was shot over a period of 15 days. As for the release date, the reports have claimed that it will be released on April 28, two weeks after Thalapathy's "Beast". ## Interestingly, "Vikram" will compete with Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's "Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal" at the box office. It is written, directed, and produced by Vignesh Shivan. ## "Vikram", which is produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, also features Fahadh Faasil in the lead role. It is the first time when the trio of Kamal, Vijay Sethupathi, and FaFa has come together to share screen space. ## The film is not a sequel to the Vikram by name, though the film's official title teaser (released 7 November 2020) used a remixed version of the theme song from the 1986 film. The makers kick-started the online promotion of the film by releasing the first song, Arabic Kuthu, on Valentine's Day, and it has become an instant hit on YouTube and other social media platforms. ## Arabic Kuthu, sung by Anirudh Ravichander & Jonita Gandhi and composed by Anirudh from the lyrics penned by SivaKarthikeyan, was expected to become a big hit knowing the massive fan following of Thalapathy Vijay. It not only became a major hit but also surpassed the expectation of everyone, by becoming the most viewed and liked South Indian lyrical video song on YouTube. ## The lyrical video song of Arabic Kuthu gained 23.7 million views on YouTube in the first 24-hours, which is a record for a South Indian song. Chennai, February 15 - National Award-winning South Indian choreographer, Brinda, who is making her directorial debut with upcoming Tamil romantic-comedy, "Hey Sinamika", has revealed why she picked this title for her directorial debut. ## "Hey Sinamika", starring Dulquer Salmaan, Kajal Aggarwal, and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles, is scheduled to release in theaters on March 3. Brinda, who considers filmmaker Mani Ratnam her guru, had choreographed a song titled 'Aye Sinamika' for his film 'OK Kanmani'.## Fortunately, the director says that by a strange stroke of coincidence, the word 'Sinamika' also means 'angry girls', and that fits perfectly with the film's plotline. Without any second thoughts, director Brinda decided that this was going to be her film's title and locked it.## Elaborating further, she says, "I choreographed one of Mani sir's songs 'Aye Sinamika' in the past and that too featured Dulquer. The movie also stars Priyanka Arul Mohan as the female lead opposite Sivakarthikeyan while S. J. Suryah, Samuthirakani, and Soori appear in pivotal roles. ## Meanwhile, "Don" will also release in the dubbed Telugu language simultaneously with the original Tamil version. Sengeni seeks the help of an advocate Chandru to seek justice for her husband. Chandru files a habeas corpus case and he refers to the Rajan case to continue further to find the truth. ## Released on Amazon Prime Video on 2 November 2021, "Jai Bhim" received critical acclaim.
