Vijay Sethupathi's Political Thriller, Laabam To Release On Ramzan In Theaters

Chennai, April 22, 2021: Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi's long-awaited political thriller film, Laabam finally finalized the release date. Written and Directed by late S. P. Jananathan, the movie will release on the occasion of Ramzan (May 12) in theaters. ## The release date was announced with the second single, Yaamili Yaamiliyaa from the movie which is a tribute to the director who died on 14 March 2021 at the age of 61 after being unconscious for two days following a cardiac arrest.## Earlier, The makers of Laabam were planning to release the movie in April as scheduled, for which they also released a statement, however, the prevailing covid-19 situation in the country forced the makers to change their plans. ## Produced by P. Chennai, April 22, 2021: Amid the speculations, the National Award-winning director, Vetrimaaran's next Tamil film with Vijay Sethupathi and Soori has been titled "Viduthalai". The movie is said to be based on the short story of a novel, Thunaivan written by Jeya Mohan. ## Produced by Elred Kumar's RS Infotainment and Vetrimaaran's Grassroot Company, the first look poster says that Vijay Sethupathi plays the mentor in the film and Soori plays the protagonist in a role of a cop. Film Fraternity Mourns The Demise Of Tamil Actor Vivek Who Died At 59

Chennai, April 17, 2021, Renowned Tamil actor, Vivek who shared the screen space with Rajinikanth, Vijay, Ajith Kumar, and others, died due to a heart attack in a Chennai hospital in the early hours of Saturday. He was admitted to SIMS Hospital in Vadapalani where he underwent an angioplasty and stenting procedure on Friday for a complete block in a critical blood vessel of the heart. He was put on ECMO support in the intensive care unit.## The actor, who was 59 years old, made his debut in 1987 with Manathil Uruthi Vendum which also starred late S. P. Balasubrahmanyam. He worked on over 200 movies and all those movies were in the Tamil language. His last movie before his death was Dharala Prabhu which is the remake of the Hindi movie, Vicky Donor. Indian 2, which stars Kamal Haasan, will be Vivek's final appearance. The recently released Tamil movie, Sulthan starring Karthi, and Rashmika Mandanna is having a successful run at the box office. Billed on a lot of expectations, the action entertainer has emerged victorious with nearly INR 25 crore in the first six days. The movie opened with INR 6.45 crores which is one of the biggest openings for Karthi. ## On Wednesday (April 7), the team of Sulthan came together in Chennai for the film's thanksgiving meet, where they spoke highly of the audience and the media's support for the film. However, some of the crew members look disappointed with negative reviews by some critics but Karthi did manage by saying that they are happy with the response the movie received. ## Apart from acknowledging the media and public support, Karthi specifically mentioned Rashmika Mandanna who made her Tamil debut with Sulthan. Karthi said that the actress's ever-expanding fanbase was one of the reasons for the film's grand opening. It is well known that fitness enthusiast Rashmika has a crazy fan following in every part of the country. ## Talking about Sulthan, it is directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan and co-produced by S. R. Prakash Babu and S. R. Prabhu under the banner Dream Warrior Pictures. Apart from Karthi and Rashmika, the movie also stars Ramachandra Raju, Lal, Yogi Babu, and Nawab Shah in key roles. Superstar Karthi's next Tamil film, Sulthan is all set for a grand theatrical release on April 2nd. Since the theatrical business in Tamil Nadu is going through a tough time despite Thalapathy Vijay's Master's blockbuster success, a lot has been depended upon Karthi's Sulthan to give a much-needed boost to the ailing Tamil industry. The movie is undoubtedly the first Tamil summer release and the pre-release buzz around it has been good enough to take a solid opening. ## Sulthan was supposed to release last year during the summer. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the makers forced to postpone the release. It was the time when some of the biggies started opting for the direct-to-digital release across languages. Sulthan also got offers, like really tempting ones from leading streaming platforms to skip the theatrical way of releasing the movie but makers opted to wait for the theaters to open. ## Karthi, in a recent interview, revealed that Sulthan is a mixture of comedy and emotions which can only be enjoyed in theaters. "There is an ample dose of comedy and emotions in the movie. They can not be experienced on OTT by sitting alone in a room. The theater will give an experience which will be very enjoyable. It is a tough decision to make and I should thank the producers for waiting until the theaters open", the actor revealed. ## Karthi also talked about Rashmika Mandanna who will be making her Tamil debut with Sulthan. Karthi said that "'Sulthan' is a very good launch for Rashmika in Tamil. She really enjoyed doing her first Tamil film. She will be seen as a village belle. In action films, female leads are usually limited to songs. But 'Sulthan' is different. She has got a bold and angry character". ## Sulthan is directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan and will simultaneously release in Tamil and Telugu languages. While the movie will not face any hurdle in Tamil, it will have tough competition in Telugu as superstar Nagarjuna's "Wild Dog" is also releasing on the same date which has a clear edge on Sulthan in Telugu. ## Apart from Sulthan, Karthi will next be seen in the Tamil historical drama, Ponniyin Selvan. The box office hit duo of actor Vijay and director Lokesh Kanagaraj is all set to reunite for their next project. After producing the biggest blockbuster, Master post lockdown, the actor-director duo will reportedly be collaborating for Thalapathy 66, i.e. Vijay's 66th film. A month after Master release (January 13), there were speculations that Vijay will be teaming up with Master director again for his next. ## According to India Today, Kanagaraj recently met Vijay at his residence in Chennai and narrated a script. The actor was impressed with the storyline and agreed to work with him again after completing Nelson's project, tentatively titled Thalapathy 65. An official announcement regarding Thalapathy 66 is expected to be made April.## It is also reported that Thalapathy 66 will be made on a mammoth budget and it will be a pan India release considering the huge fan following of the actor. The project will be bankrolled by Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studios. ## Talking about Vijay's 65th film with director Nelson, the pre-production work is currently underway and shooting will begin soon, probably in April. It will be produced by Sun Pictures.
