Where And When Will Sivakarthikeyan's Much-Awaited 'Doctor' Release - Theaters Or OTT?

Chennai, June 29, 2021: Actor Sivakarthikeyan's medical action film, Doctor, has been a talk of the town for a long time now. The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial is ready for release since the last year, however, due to the covid-19 pandemic, it kept getting postponed. The movie was all set to hit theaters on March 26, 2021, however, due to the elections in Tamil Nadu, makers again postponed the release indefinitely. ## While the makers had a chance to release the "Doctor" in March this year before they announced the postponement, the second covid-19 wave made sure their wait gets longer if they still want theatrical release. As of June 2021, there are still no signs of releasing the movie anytime soon. However, there are a lot of rumors that have started making noise regarding the medium "Doctor" will release on. ## Recently, the producer of the film, KJR Studios had announced that the film will get the right release when things become normal. Ever since it has been speculated that Doctor has been sold to Disney+Hostar for direct-to-digital release in 4 South Indian languages. However, there is no official confirmation yet from the makers of the film. ## On the other hand, as per the latest buzz in Kollywood, the movie is still very much in line to get a theatrical release. While Disney Plus indeed approached the "Doctor" team to grab the streaming rights, it has also been said that the streaming giant also wanted the satellite rights to be given to Vijay TV. But KJR Studios had already inked a deal with Sun TV for the TV premiere, so things didn't go as per plan. ## And now, if there is anything to go by the buzz, Doctor will be hitting theaters on August 14 or 15 this year. However, the OTT release of the film can not be ruled out as theaters in Tamil Nadu are yet to reopen, which may (or already) force the makers to take the OTT route. It will be interesting to see what medium makers choose to release the film.## Priyanka Arul Mohan plays Sivakarthikeyan's pair in the film while Vinay Rai plays the antagonist. Chennai, June 28, 2021: The dynamic trio of Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha Akkineni, and Nayanthara have teamed up together for the first time in Vignesh Shivan's Tamil romantic comedy "Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal". ## While Samantha and Nayanthara have already worked with Vijay Sethupathi in Super Deluxe and Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, respectively, it is also the first time when two leading ladies of South India working together in a film. ## The shooting of the film was supposed to take place in April 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. In May 2020, the production house announced that the film will go on floors from August 2020. On 10 December 2020, the team officially kickstarted the film on floors in Chennai. ## And now, according to reports, only 15 days of shoot left for Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, and the team is gearing up for the release in October this year in theaters. Apart from direction, Vignesh Shivan has also written and jointly produced the film with Nayanthara and Lalit Kumar under the banners of Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio. ## Earlier in February on Valentine’s Day, director Vignesh Shivan unveiled the title logo and revealed that his fourth feature film is titled 'Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal'. Sai Pallavi To Reunite With Dhanush In Sekhar Kammula's Trilingual Film?

Chennai, June 22, 2021: A couple of days ago, Tamil superstar Dhanush announced his next film with the National Award-winning filmmaker, Sekhar Kammula. The yet-untitled film will be the first time when Dhanush and Kammula will be working together on a film. It is a trilingual movie to be shot in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi simultaneously. The movie will also mark Dhanush's Telugu debut.## Now, the latest buzz in the Telugu media circle is that Sai Pallavi will be reuniting with Dhanush in the film. The duo had previously worked together in the Tamil action comedy film, Maari 2, released in 2018. ## Director Sekhar Kammula, who had already worked with Sai Pallavi in the films like Fidaa and Love Story, likly to cast one of his favorite actresses opposite Dhanush in the film. Narayan Das K Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao will be producing the movie under the banner of Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP which is a unit of Asian Group, the leading exhibition, and distribution company. ## Sonali Narang presents the movie that will feature some noted actors cutting across all the languages. Chennai, June 15, 2021: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's "Drishyam 2" was a huge OTT success. The movie opened with highly positive reviews and easily one of the most viewed films of 2021 on Amazon Prime Video. Due to its widespread success, remakes in other languages have been announced. ## While the Telugu remake of Drishyam 2, titled "Drushyam 2" starring Venkatesh has already been wrapped within 45 days, the Hindi remake has also been announced by Panorama Studios International, and will soon go on floors. Jeethu Joseph, who helmed the Malayalam version, has directed the Telugu version as well. ## On the other hand, the Tamil remake as Papanasam 2 was also supposed to be announced with Kamal Haasan, who also starred in the first part. Dhanush: I Always Ask Karthik Subbaraj To Make A Sequel To Jagame Thandhiram

Chennai, June 8, 2021: Tamil superstar currently in the US where he has been shooting for the Russo Brothers' Netflix movie, The Gray Man. The actor will return to Chennai in the next couple of weeks as he has shot his portion of the Netflix original, co-starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Julia Butters, among others. ## Meanwhile, Dhanush is gearing up for the release of his Tamil film, Jagame Thandhiram. The gangster drama was supposed to be released in theaters, however, due to the covid-19 pandemic, producer S. Sashikanth sold the streaming rights to Netflix for a direct-to-digital release, which is scheduled for June 18 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. ## The audio of Jagame Thandhiram was launched on June 7. On this special occasion, Dhanush, director Karthik Subbaraj, composer Santhosh Narayanan along with the singers and lyricists took part in a Space session on Twitter. Dhanush joined the conversation from the US. ## The actor, who has been waiting for the release of Jagame Thandhiram for a long time, said in a Space session that he is disappointed as the film could have released in better circumstances in theaters but feeling okay that the film is releasing on Netflix to reach a wider audience. ## Dhanush will be playing the role of a gangster named Suruli who takes on a London-based gangster named Peter Sprott, played by James Cosmo. Speaking about his character, Dhanush said, "I love the character so much that I always ask Karthik Subbaraj to make a sequel. I am confident that everyone will like the film". ## Jagame Thandhiram is directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by S. Sashikanth and Chakravarthy Ramachandra under the banner of Y NOT Studios along with Reliance Entertainment. Ajith Kumar Receives Bomb Threat, Hoax Caller Identified

Chennai, June 3, 2021: Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar received a bomb threat call on May 31, however, it turned out to be a hoax, and the Chennai police has identified the hoax caller. ## According to reports, the threat call was made to the Chennai city police control room, in which the caller said a bomb has been planted at the actor's house in the city's Injambakkam area. The Police rushed to the actor's house but no bomb found after searching till late at night. ## Cops soon started an investigation and traced the caller named Dinesh, a mentally ill person who lives in the Marakkanam town of the state. Media reports also suggest that Dinesh was involved in making similar calls in the past to actors such as Rajinikanth and Vijay.## This is not the first time Thala Ajith received such threats. The actor had received such a call for the first time in 2014 which turned out to be false. Again in 2017, he had received a similar bomb threat that had caused. Last year in July too, he had received a threat call and police took immediate action in the case. A Marakkanam resident, Bhuvanesh, was caught and a case was filed against him for making the hoax call. ## On the work front, Thala Ajith Kumar will be next seen in Valimai, directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor under Bayview Projects LLP. Chennai, June 1, 2021: Tamil superstar Dhanush's most-awaited film, Jagame Thandhiram's trailer was launched on Tuesday, June 1. The movie, which marks the first collaboration between the actor and director Karthik Subbaraj, will premiere directly on Netflix on June 18. ## The trailer shows Dhanush in the role of a Madurai-based witty gangster called Suruli. He travels to London to take on a local gangster named Peter Sprott, played by Hollywood actor James Cosmo of Game of Thrones fame. James Cosmo plays the role of a London-based mafia boss and shares a bitter relationship with Suruli. ## Produced by Y NOT Studios, and Reliance Entertainment, Jagame Thandhiram was supposed to release in theaters in May last year but was delayed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this year, Dhanush mentioned that the movie is made for the big screen only, however, in February, the producer S Sashikanth of Y Not Studio decided to release it against theaters on Netflix. ## As Dhanush was quite confident about the theatrical release, the decision of the direct OTT release on Netflix did disappoint him. Chennai, May 25, 2021: Soon after the Tamil movie "Kaithi" starring Karthi was released in 2019, the fans have been speculating about the sequel of this film which is noted to be inspired by the 1976 American film Assault on Precinct 13. ## The ending of the action blockbuster was in such a way that it opened up a new leaf for a deeper story, leaving the fans wanting more from the story. Well, things are rightly falling in place after director Lokesh Kanagaraj and actor Karthi hinted about a possible sequel sometime back.## Now, producer SR Prabhu has also confirmed through a Twitter Spaces session that Kaithi 2 is definitely in the works and the audience will definitely get to see what happened next. However, there is no timeline for the sequel that has been fixed yet as both Lokesh and Karthi are busy with their projects. ## With Lokesh Kanagaraj getting busy with Vikram starring Kamal Haasan, it is still unsure as to which project he will take over once he completes the current one.
