Bengaluru, October 14 - Rishab Shetty's adventure action thriller film, Kantara has had an excellent second week at the domestic box office. The sensational blockbuster movie grossed approx. 50 crores in India during the second week, helping itself reach 85.6 crores gross in just two weeks while the worldwide total stands at 93.6 crores. ## Produced by Hombale Films, "Kantara" has been competing with the biggest Kannada blockbuster of all time, KGF: Chapter 2 in the home state, Karnataka, and is leading the Yash-starrer after 5th day at the box office. Thanks to the blockbuster trending at the box office so far, "Kantara" has set an all-time record in Karnataka for the second week. ## "Kantara" has grossed 46.42 crores in the state in the second week, which is the biggest ever. Previously, "KGF 2" had this record with 34.2 crores though it had grossed over 100 crores in the opening week against 34.05 crores of "Kantara". ## "KGF 2", which was also produced by Hombale Films, finished its lifetime run in Karnataka with approx. 183 crores. Bengaluru, September 29 - Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil will reportedly be headlining KGF producer, Hombale Films' next production. The production house teased a new big announcement today (Sept. 29) with the tagline "A race against time". ## According to LetsCinema, Hombale Films-headed by Vijay Kirgandur will announce a new film tomorrow (Sept.30) with Fahadh Faasil. Pawan Kumar, who directed the Kannada movie "U-Turn" and its Tamil-Telugu bilingual remake, will reportedly be directing Hombale's film with Fahadh. ## The studio will make the official announcement tomorrow at 10:16 AM. Fahadh, meanwhile, will next be seen in the Tamil political thriller film "Maamannan", which is currently under production. The movie revolves around a 1947 Gandhi follower and a freedom fighter and how they were brutally attacked. Due to unavoidable circumstances, the freedom fighter's son gets trapped in the mafia world and the story unfolds between 1947 to 1984.## The teaser did not reveal any story or dialogues, but it still managed to leave a mark, thanks to the Ravi Basrur standout background score which perfectly syncs with the theme of the movie. Upendra is playing the lead role of a gangster while it also stars Shriya Saran as the female lead. ## "Kabzaa" will be a Pan India film that will release in seven Indian languages, including Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Odia, and Marathi. Mumbai, September 15 - Filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar spoke highly about Kannada's blockbuster film franchise KGF and called it the industry-saving film. The filmmaker graced a star-studded event, held at a five-star hotel in Mumbai on September 14, where some of the most prominent personalities of Marathi cinema were present. ## Mahesh Manjrekar was speaking in the context of giving more importance to regional cinema and said that the Kannada industry is the prime example of it, which, the filmmaker believed, was changed because of one person. ## "Some years back, the condition of the Kannada film industry was such that it seemed like it would shut down anytime. But there was one person who believed in making a film and spending a lot of money on it. That person (probably referring to producer Vijay Kiragandur) made a film named KGF and it created history.## "What makes me happy is that they didn't make both parts of KGF in Hindi. They shot the film in Kannada, dubbed it in Hindi aur fir audience ke sir ke upar feka!", he said, according to Bollywood Hungama. ## "I envy these guys. I would have loved to do something like this. It is superb", the "Antim" director added. "We have to shout from the rooftops that Marathi cinema is (also) great. There's no dearth of talent when it comes to Marathi cinema. Then what is it that we are lacking? We also need people who believe in our vision. It's crucial that we make big-scale films, that too with conviction and confidence".## The filmmaker further said that investors should also believe in Marathi cinema and its filmmaker like Vijay Kiragandur believed in director Prashanth Neel's vision and Yash's confidence, called KGF. "Somebody has to believe in us and spend money, like the way KGF producers did. I mean, come on, KGF - Chapter 2 collected Rs. 1000 crores! Can you imagine?", he added.## "KGF" was released in 2018 and went on to become the highest-grossing Kannada film of all time before its sequel came in 2022 and shattered box office records at the Pan India level. Released in April 2022, "KGF: Chapter 2" grossed over 1200 crores worldwide, including approx. 1000 crores in India alone.
