Record Pre-Sales For Disney's 'Moana 2'

Los Angeles, October 30 - Disney's hugely-anticipated animated musical adventure film Moana 2 is bracing up for a massive opening at the domestic (North America) box office after pre-sales off to record start for an animated movie of 2024.## According to the online ticketing platform Fandango, the Walt Disney Animation Studios tentpole set records Monday in terms of first-day advance ticket sales for 2024 animated titles, beating Disney/Pixar's billion-dollar grosser Inside Out 2. The platform didn't provide pre-sales numbers. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first-day pre-sales of Moana 2 are the fourth best for any movie of 2024, behind only Deadpool & Wolverine, Wicked and Dune: Part 2. The blockbuster sequel is scheduled to hit the big screens on November 27 during Thanksgiving weekend.## Disney/Pixar's Inside Out 2 opened to a massive $154 million in its 3-day opening weekend and the trade's projecting a $150+ million start for Moana 2 as well over the 5-day weekend. The original Moana, released in 2016, took an opening of $56+ million domestically and went on to gross $643 million worldwide, including $248.7 million in North America. ## The sequel, directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller, follows Moana as she embarks on an unexpected adventure in long-lost waters after receiving a call from her ancestors. Mumbai, October 29 - Two of the most-awaited Bollywood films of the year, Ajay Devgn-fronted Singham Again and Kartik Aaryan-starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 are brewing up for major box office clash this Diwali on November 1st. ## There has been a lot of tussle over screen sharing as the makers of both films are demanding enough screen count to cash in the big opportunity. This skirmish led to the late opening of pre-sales but once the full-fledged bookings started, both movies showed very good movement. ## BB3 went on sale a day before Singham Again and the horror comedy sold over 554K tickets worth approximately 17.10 crore from around 9900 shows. On the other hand, Singham 3 sold around 512K tickets worth 15.75 crore from around 13700 shows for the opening day. (Booking gross without block seats and from tracked shows only). ## The pre-sales of both movies picked up after the full-fledged bookings started and on its last day before release, the advance sales exploded and finished among the highest of the year. 'Jumanji 3' Sets Official Release Date

Los Angeles, October 29 — Sony Pictures announces that the next instalment of the adventure comedy franchise is officially in development and will be released before Christmas 2026, nearly 7 years after the last movie Jumanji: The Next Level (2019).## According to Deadline, director Jake Kasdan and star posse Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan are in talks and expected to return for Jumanji 3. The film will hit the screens on December 11, 2026, the same pre-Christmas slot that previous films in the Jumanji franchise released.## The third instalment of the rebooted Jumanji franchise is currently slated for a solo release on December 11 but there is Disney's untitled Star Wars movie and Warner Bros/Legendary’s supposed release of Dune 3 on December 18.## The original Jumanji was released in 1995, before its spin-off, Zathura: A Space Adventure launched in 2005. 'Mirzapur' Series To Be Adapted Into Theatrical Film; Cast Details Revealed

Mumbai, October 28 - In a landmark move, Amazon Prime Video's hit crime thriller web series Mirzapur is set to be adapted into a theatrical film. Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment will produce it. ## The series explores power dynamics and the criminal underworld in the heartland of northern India. The theatrical adaptation, set to debut in 2026, is one of the first instances when a major streaming product is being made into a theatrical film. ## The film will feature the return of the show's principal cast, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi. Mumbai, October 27 - Tom Hardy-fronted superhero movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage has had a good extended 4-day opening weekend and one of the biggest for a Hollywood movie of 2024 at the Indian box office. ## After scoring 5.50+ crores gross on its Thursday opening day, Venom 3 showed a good jump over the weekend to gross approximately 38.25 crores in 4 days which is the third biggest for a Hollywood title of the year after Deadpool & Wolverine (84 crores gross) and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (47 crore gross). ## The 39 crore gross opening weekend collection makes Venom 3 the second highest-grossing film of the franchise after crossing Venom: Let There Be Carnage which grossed approximately 28.50 crores in 2021. It will become the biggest grosser in the series by topping Venom (41+ crores gross) by tomorrow. ## Venom 3 is already the 4th highest-grossing Hollywood movie of 2024 at the Indian box office. Box Office: 'Venom: The Last Dance' Debuts With $175 Million Worldwide

Los Angeles, October 27 - Sony Pictures' Marvel movie Venom: The Last Dance debuted with a strong $175 million in its opening weekend at the worldwide box office, thanks to the international markets where the movie overperformed. ## The Tom Hardy-starrer superhero movie, however, has had a lower-than-expected opening at the domestic (North America) box office, grossing $51 million in its 3-day opening weekend. This is the lowest opening in the Venom franchise and the lowest ever for a comic book trilogy. ## In the Venom franchise, the film is nowhere close to the opening of the first two movies. The 2018 Venom scored $80 million on opening weekend, followed by Venom: Let There Be Carnage which opened to a then-pandemic record $90 million in North America. ## Overseas, Venom 3 performed fantastically and grossed $124 million over the 5-day opening weekend from 64 markets. This is way more than Venom: Let There Be Carnage ($62.3 million) and just behind Venom which scored $125.2 million internationally in its opening weekend. ## China was the biggest overseas market of Venom 3 with $46 million, followed by Mexico ($7.3 million), South Korea ($5.8 million), the UK ($5.7 million) and India ($4.6 million / 39 crores gross). Hyderabad, October 27 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan-fronted Game Changer, directed by S. Shankar, is one of the most-anticipated Indian movies and is the first for the actor since SS Rajamouli's directorial mega-blockbuster RRR in March 2022. ## Game Changer has been in production since late 2021 and after multiple postponements, the movie was finally confirmed to hit the big screens on January 10, 2025, during the Sankranthi festival in multiple languages. Mumbai, October 27 - The Dussehra weekend Bollywood releases, Alia Bhatt's Jigra and Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri's Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video have underperformed at the box office, particularly the former which has credible names attached to it. ## It has been a struggling ride for the action thriller Jigra which has barely managed to go past 50 crores at the worldwide box office. Domestically, the movie is a big flop, grossing approximately 36.50 crores (30.35 crores net) in 16 days so far. ## At the overseas box office, Jigra has managed to mint an estimated 18 crores, for a worldwide cume of around 54.50 crores gross collection. This is Alia Bhatt's lowest-grossing film worldwide since Highway which minted approximately 52.50 crores gross in 2012. ## The comedy-drama Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has performed decently so far. Box Office: 'Vettaiyan' Tops 100 Crore Gross In Tamil Nadu

Chennai, October 26 - Superstar Rajinikanth's action drama Vettaiyan, also starring Amitabh Bachchan, has entered the 100 crores gross club at the Tamil Nadu box office, becoming the second movie of 2024 to achieve the feat after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All-Time. ## Directed by T. J. Gnanavel, Vettaiyan entered the 100 crore club in the state on its 17th day, third Saturday. It is the second back-to-back film of Rajinikanth (excluding Lal Salaam in which Rajinikanth played an extended appearance), after mega-blockbuster Jailer last year. ## However, despite crossing 100 crores gross collection in the home state, Vettaiyna has underperformed at the box office, not meeting the pre-release expectations. It has been a struggle for the movie so far with around 250 crores gross worldwide. ## In 16 days so far, the movie has minted approximately 166 crores in India and 80 crores overseas for approximately 246 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office. Tom Holland's 'Spider-Man 4' Gets Official Release Date

Los Angeles, October 26 - Tom Holland officially returns to play Spider-Man as Sony Pictures has set Spider-Man 4 release date in July 2026. Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton will direct this Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. ## Recently, Holland said that the filming for Spider-Man 4 will commence in the summer of 2025 and now, Sony has confirmed that it would be released on July 24, 2026, two months after Marvel and Disney's Avengers: Doomsday which comes out on May 1, 2026.## Interestingly, Christopher Nolan's untitled next movie will reportedly be released on July 17, 2026, and it stars Tom Holland in the lead role with Matt Damon. This means Holland will have two back-to-back releases just a week apart. ## This is also not the first time a Spider-Man movie is releasing shortly after the Avengers film. Previously, Tom Holland-led Spider-Man: Far From Home was released just two months after Avengers: Endgame and it went on to gross over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. ## The yet untitled Spider-Man 4 is the 4th Spidey movie featuring Holland in the titular role. Mumbai, October 25 - Sony Pictures' superhero movie Venom: The Last Dance has taken a good start at the Indian box office. The movie was released a day earlier than the North American debut on Wednesday. ## The film, despite the shows starting post-afternoon, beat the first two Venom movies' openings to score one of the biggest starts for Sony Pictures' Spider-Man Universe. It scored approximately 5.60 crores gross ($665K) on all versions on its first day. ## This is the best start for a Venom movie in India, beating the opening of the first Venom which minted approximately 5.25 crores gross collection in 2018. The second film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage was released during the Covid-19 pandemic and minted approximately 3.50+ crores gross opening. ## The initial word of mouth for Venom 3 seems to be mixed which has been the case with the previous films in the franchise as well.
