Hyderabad, January 15 - Director Prashanth Varma's superhero movie Hanuman is on course to become a huge blockbuster at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. It was one of the films released this Sankranthi festival with lower stakes but has now started coming on top. ## Starring Teja Sajja in the lead role, Hanuman has completed its first weekend, grossing over 72 crores at the worldwide box office. In India, the movie has minted 47+ crores gross (including 5 crores previews) while the overseas collection is approximately 25 crores. ## The Hindi dubbed version of the film is a big surprise at the box office. In the first weekend, the Hindi version scored approximately 12 crores net (14+ crores gross), which is higher than the opening weekend totals of Pan Indian blockbusters like "Pushpa - The Rise" and "KGF: Chapter 1". ## The first Monday collection of the film is set to be higher than the opening day, both in Hindi and Telugu. The Hindi trade is expecting Hanuman will reach 100 crore net collection and the way it is trending with the show count gradually increasing, it won't be a surprise if it manages to touch the milestone. ## The movie was made on a budget of around 30 crores, a relatively low cost for a VFX-friendly film and to come up with a satisfying output with that budget is where director Prashanth Varma won the battle. Kochi, January 15 - Superstar Mohanlal's courtroom drama film Neru has achieved 100 crores in business worldwide from its theatrical and non-theatrical. The Jeethu Joseph's directorial venture has not only proved a roaring comeback for Mohanlal but also turned into a big profitable film for makers. ## Neru, which was released during Christmas weekend on December 21, 2023, has been a big blockbuster at the worldwide box office. It has so far grossed approximately 87 crores worldwide, including approximately 52.50 crores at the domestic box office. The movie has scored 46+ crores gross in Kerala alone. ## Produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, Neru will be streaming on Disney+Hotstar post its theatrical run. It is said that Hotstar has paid a big amount to acquire the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film. Los Angeles, January 12 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise will reportedly be returning as Captain Pete "Maverick" in the third instalment of his action drama Top Gun franchise.## There have been speculations about whether Tom Cruise will make the next film in his blockbuster franchise, but now, according to a report by Puck News (via comicbook.com), Top Gun 3 is in development at Paramount Pictures with Cruise returning alongside Top Gun: Maverick co-stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell.## The report further reveals that Maverick co-writer Ehren Kruger is currently working on the script, with producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison involved. Maverick director Joseph Kosinski is also expected to return as either director or producer for the same.## While an official announcement hasn't been made yet, the report says "Top Gun 3" could be Tom Cruise's next film after the forthcoming "Mission Impossible 8". It is indeed a major development as Cruise recently signed a deal with Warner Bros. to develop and produce original and franchise theatrical titles which he'll star in. Though it wasn't an exclusive deal it will still keep him busy.## The second instalment of the Top Gun franchise, "Top Gun: Maverick was released in May 2022, and it proved to be one of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters and easily the biggest ever for Tom Cruise with a worldwide gross collection of $1.49 billion (12300 crores). Mumbai, January 11 - Director Prasanth Varma's superhero film Hanuman, the first film in his planned Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe, is creating waves ahead of its release on January 12, even though it is not as big as other Sankranthi releases in terms of star power and scale. ## The movie, due to its mythological connection, is having a good buzz among the Telugu audiences and to cash in on the opportunity to spread the word of mouth, the makers have planned paid previews across the country on January 11 and the response to them has been sensational, to say the least. ## There have been a total of 660+ shows allotted for the Telugu version in paid premieres and the advance booking gross collection of them is close to 2.50 crores (including some block seats) with a fantastic occupancy of around 60%. Among the Sankranthi 2024 Telugu releases, it has the third-highest worldwide theatrical business with 25 crores. ## In two Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), the film scored 19 crores in business, including 7 crores in Nizam. Directed by Koratala Siva, the teaser was launched on January 8 at 4:05 PM in 5 languages. ## In the original Telugu language, Devara Glimpse scored record viewership (for a glimpse, not for a teaser) with a huge 26.17 million views in the first 24 hours. The Hindi version recorded 18.50 million views, followed by 2.53 million views in Kannada, and 2.20 million views in Malayalam and Tamil languages combined. ## The super positively received glimpse combined scored around 49.35 million views with 1.25 million likes in all 5 languages, making it one of the most-watched Indian teasers. Mumbai, January 8 - Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's action drama Animal has become only the fifth film in history to breach the 500 crores net collection mark in the Hindi language after Baahubali 2, Pathaan, Gadar 2, and Jawan. ## Animal, released in December 2023, proved to be one of the biggest Indian blockbusters ever. The adult-rated action drama opened to historic numbers and became the first film to score 50+ crores net collection on three consecutive days, and went on to score over 300 crores net in the first weekend in Hindi. ## The movie held superbly in the second week to score over 130 crores net in Hindi, followed by another solid hold in the third week. In the first three weeks, the movie minted approximately 482 crores net in Hindi and 531 crores in all versions. ## In its 4th week, the pace of Animal slowed down due to the arrival of Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki and Prabhas-fronted Salaar. However, due to strong word of mouth and ever-rising demand, the film continued to score decently to remain in the race for 500 crore Hindi net and it eventually topped this rare milestone on its 39th day. ## Apart from the Hindi net collection of 500 crores, Animal has also topped 550 crores net in all versions, becoming only the second Bollywood movie ever to top this mark after SRK's Jawan.
