Mumbai, December 18 - Ranbir Kapoor-led mega-blockbuster Animal has unlocked another milestone at the box office by becoming only the 4th Indian film of 2023 and 6th since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to achieve 3 crore footfalls in India. ## Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal crossed 3 crore admissions in theatres on its 17th day with approx. 3.05 crores of footfalls so far. In 2023, it is the 4th movie after Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan, and Sunny Deol-led Gadar 2 to hit this milestone. ## SS Rajamouli's RRR was the first Indian film since the pandemic to score 3 crores footfalls, followed by KGF: Chapter 2. Both movies were released in 2022, and both went on to score over 4 crores in footfalls each while KGF 2 took a step further by hitting the 5 crores footfalls mark. ## In Indian cinema history, over 80+ movies have sold 3 crores or more tickets each, including 4 movies with 10+ crores tickets each, and at least 10 movies with 5+ crores tickets each. Chennai, December 17 - Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram teamed up with director Pa Ranjith for a period action drama film titled Thangalaan. The film is set during British rule in India and is about the tribal leader Thangalaan's valiant struggle against the British after they plot to seize their land for gold mining. ## Chiyaan Vikram recently shared on social media that he has started dubbing work for the movie, which gave the impression the film would be ready to release by January 26, 2024, as announced earlier. But now, according to the latest reports, Thangalaan is set to be pushed from its original date. ## It is said that the makers have submitted the film to screen in multiple prestigious national and international film festivals, and for that reason, it has been pushed to June 2024 release in multiple languages. Mumbai, December 17 - Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal with Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has entered the elite league of 500 crores net at the Indian box office. The film crossed this magical mark as I type this in 17 days in all versions, becoming 4th Bollywood film of the year to do so. ## Animal scored a big jump of over 50% on its third Saturday to bring in 12.80 crores net collection, pushing the total to approx. 498 crores in 16 days. The movie has crossed the 500 crore net mark and it will be around 510+ crores at the end of the 17th day. ## The action drama has crossed 450 crores net in the original Hindi version in 16 days and has all the possibilities to enter the 500 crores club in the next couple of weeks. Mumbai, December 17 - Vicky Kaushal's maiden film with director Meghna Gulzar Sam Bahadur has emerged as a successful venture despite clashing with Ranbir Kapoor-led action drama Animal which is running riot at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. ## Sam Bahadur, a biographical war drama film based on the life of India's first field marshal Sam Manekshaw, has crossed the 100 crores gross mark on its 17th day at the global box office. The movie scored approx. 105 crores gross through the third Sunday. ## Produced by RSVP Movies, Sam Bahadur has minted approx. 90.50 crores gross (approx. 76.60 crores net) in India and an estimated 14.50 crores overseas in the first 17 days. The movie is heading towards finishing over 80 crores net collection, which will make it Vicky's 4th biggest grosser domestically.## The film has found appreciation among its target audiences though it could have done much better had it been released solo. Chennai, December 16 - Blockbuster Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj will next be directing superstar Rajinikanth in an action-packed entertainer, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171. The film marks the maiden film of the duo, and director Lokesh has planned to make it a high-octane action thriller which Rajinikanth hasn't done in a long time. ## Thalaivar 171 will be a Pan India release and for this, director Lokesh is in the process of locking a Bollywood star for an extended role. Over the last few weeks, there have been rumours that the filmmaker approached superstar Shah Rukh Khan for a key role in the movie, however, it wasn't confirmed by trusted sources. ## Now, according to a report in Pinkvilla, SRK was indeed approached for the movie but he politely declined the offer. It is said that SRK doesn't want to feature in an extended role though he has huge respect for legendary Rajinikanth. The Jawan actor declined the offer saying that he is focussing on doing standalone movies as he has done a few cameo appearances over the last couple of years and is not interested in doing anymore at this point. ## The report further added that even though SRK is not doing Thalaivar 171, he has shown interest in doing a standalone movie with Lokesh Kanagraj if he wants and come up with a good script. The duo might collaborate after some time in the future. ## Lokesh, meanwhile, has discussed the same part with Ranveer Singh now and the actor is showing keen interest in coming on board. Mumbai, December 16 - The stage is set for the biggest box office clash of the year to cheer up the Christmas 2023 weekend in the form of Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki and Prabhas-fronted Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire, releasing a day apart on December 21 and 22, respectively. ## Dunki, a comedy-drama based on illegal immigration, marks the maiden collaboration between the two giants of Bollywood cinema, SRK and director Rajkumar Hirani. It has been one of the most-anticipated films of the year and the fans are eager to witness this magical on-screen combo in theaters. ## Telugu superstar Prabhas teamed up with Kannada filmmaker Prashanth Neel for the first time on Salaar, an A-rated action drama about two best friends who turned biggest enemies. It story of the film will be completed in two parts, with the first part titled Salaar: Ceasefire releasing on December 22nd. ## Unlike Dunki, which will be released in just one language, Salaar is a Pan India film scheduled to hit in multiple languages. The booking of both movies started opening gradually. Salaar advances had a strong start and ended on a high note, and Dunki, on the other hand, picked up well once the full-fledged advance commenced in the evening on December 16 .## Have a look at the booking status of both films as of 6 AM on December 22 - ## Dunki - The film's opening day advances finished with good numbers. It sold approximately 22.38 lakh tickets via online booking. In Hindi, the movie managed to score decent sales by selling 218.5K tickets worth approximately 5.60 crores gross. ## The bookings for both movies are strong for the respective genre and that set the stage for big openings at the box office. The film took the biggest Diwali opening and went on to score a solid opening weekend in India and worldwide which ignited hopes of another massive blockbuster.## Tiger 3, however, couldn't continue the strong momentum of the holiday period in the long term and was affected by the mixed word-of-mouth which dented its chances to go well past 500 crores globally. Mumbai, December 14 - Superstar Prabhas-fronted Salaar: Ceasefire - Part 1 is all set to hit the big screens on December 22nd during the Christmas weekend. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the action drama has been rated with an "A" certificate by CBFC which has raised excitement among action film lovers. ## The advance booking of "Salaar" will be opened tomorrow in India. Overseas, the booking was commenced recently and has already crossed $1 million for the opening weekend as well as for the opening day, including the premieres with 8 days still left for the release.## North America is leading pre-sales with approx. $850K for day 1, including premiers which will take place on December 21st. In between, there is the Hollywood superhero biggie, "Aquaman 2" along with the mega-blockbuster holdover "Animal" which will be looking to cash in the opportunity during the Christmas weekend. ## Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is coming after two monstrous blockbusters in the form of "Pathaan" and "Jawan", and the expectations are from "Dunki" which marks his maiden collaboration with maverick director Rajkumar Hirani. "Salaar" is directed by Prashanth Neel whose last film "KGF: Chapter 2" was a massive blockbuster, especially in Hindi. ## The Dunki vs Salaar has been termed as the clash of the titans and this is leading to serious negotiations regarding screen sharing, mainly in North India where Prabhas-starrer is a serious challenge to other movies. AA Films will be producing "Salaar" in the Hindi belt and the studio is putting efforts to get the best possible release against "Dunki". ## According to a report by Pinkvilla, "Dunki" will have a big advantage as multiplexes are favouring the first-time combo of SRK-Hirani over other movies during the Christmas weekend.
