Mumbai, July 31, 2021: It's been raining films for Bollywood heartthrob, Kartik Aarya. After announcing two films recently, the actor has now confirmed one more film in his growing list. The Luka Chuppi actor is all set to star in a romantic-thriller film, Freddy. It will be directed by Shashanka Ghosh and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Jay Shewakramani. ## Sharing his excitement, Kartik is looking forward to bringing the romantic thriller to life. "As an actor, I crave to explore different facades of entertainment and with Freddy, I'm venturing into an uncharted territory which is both exciting and intriguing in equal measures. Los Angeles, July 30, 2021: A few hours after Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney Co., the company has hit back at the actress, calling the lawsuit "sad and distressing". ## On Thursday (July 29), Scarlett Johansson suid Disney at the Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging that her contract was breached when the Walt Disney Co. released the film on its Disney+ streaming service at the same time as its theatrical debut. The actress's agreement with Disney's Marvel Entertainment/Marvel Studios guaranteed an exclusive theatrical release of her films, in which her salary was mostly based on the film's box-office performance.## Disney countered Johansson's lawsuit in a rather fiery statement, stating, "There is no merit whatsoever to this filing. The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic", Disney said. ## The company went on to state that the actress has already received $20 million for her work and argued that "the release of 'Black Widow' on Disney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20M she has received to date". ## Black Widow was made available on Disney's streaming service for a $30 rental fee at the same time it debuted in theaters on July 9. "Black Widow" set a pandemic-era box office record with $80 million in North America. It earned an additional $78 million overseas and $60 million on Disney Plus. However, the movie witnessed a historical decline of 67% in the second weekend at the box office. ## Earlier, the US theater association also slammed Disney for making the film available at home. Scarlett Johansson, star of Marvel Studios' latest release Black Widow film, filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney Co. on Thursday (July 29) at the Los Angeles Superior Court, as reported by The Direct. ## Johansson reportadly alleged that her contract was breached when the Walt Disney Co. released the film on its Disney+ streaming service at the same time as its theatrical debut. ## The actress's agreement with Disney's Marvel Entertainment/Marvel Studios guaranteed an exclusive theatrical release of her films, in which her salary was mostly based on the film's box-office performance. ## According to the suit's allegations, "Disney intentionally induced Marvel's breach of agreement" to prevent Scarlett Johansson "from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel". If reports are to be believed, there are at least 5 films that will be releasing on the Sankranthi 2022 occasion. ## Pawan Kalyan - Rana Daggubati's yet-untitled film, and Mahesh Babu's "Sarkaru Vaari Paata" have already been confirmed to release on Sankranthi 2022 on January 12 and 13 respectively. Apart from these two films, Prabhas' period romantic film "Radhe Shyam" has also set January 14 release. There is buzz that Dil Raju production's "F3" will also be released around that time. ## Apart from outright Telugu films, Thalapathy Vijay's "Beast" is said to be making its debut on Pongal 2022. Interestingly, "Beast" will be Vijay's second back-to-back Pongal release after "Master" in 2021. "Master" was one of the first biggies to release in cinemas after reopening early this year, and it did wonders at the box office, earning over Rs. 150 crores net in India. There are talks that "Beast" will also be releasing in the Telugu dubbed version. ## There is no doubt that if the covid-19 pandemic remains under control, 2022 could prove to be a game-changing year for the film industry. There is a lot depending on how the vaccination goes, but as things stand now, one can hope that next year will be a lot better than 2020 and 2021, and the film industry will bounce back strongly. ## Stay tuned...
