Box Office: Aranmanai 4 Jumped Big On The Second Day

Chennai, May 5 - Horror-comedy Aranmanai 4 is set to change the fortune of the Tamil film industry which has had an underwhelming year so far at the box office. The movie took the second-biggest opening for a Tamil title this year and has strengthened its position with the big jump on the second day. ## Directed by Sundar C, Aranmanai 4 witnessed a jump of around 43% on its second day to score approximately 7.65 crores gross collection, pushing total collection to around 13 crores in two days at the domestic box office. In Tamil Nadu, the movie has minted around 10.25 crores gross. ## The Tamil version of the film has alone minted approximately 11.75 crores while the Telugu version has grossed 1.25 crores gross. Chennai, May 4 - Actor and filmmaker Sundar C's 4th instalment of the horror-comedy franchise Aranmanai has taken a good start at the domestic box office, scoring the second biggest opening for a Tamil title in 2024. ## Starring Tamannaah Bhatia, and Raashii Khanna in the leading roles, Aranmanai 4 grossed approximately 5.25 crores on its opening day in India in Tamil and Telugu languages. The Tamil version alone minted an estimated 4.75 crores gross while the Telugu version scored around 55 lakh gross. ## The opening of Aranmanai 4 is the second biggest for a Tamil title in 2024 after Dhanush's Captain Miller which minted approximately 10 crores gross opening day. Veteran Kamal Haasan's vigilante action Indian 2, directed by Shankar, was announced on June 13/14 for box office hunting. ## While the makers are still to make any changes to the release date of Indian 2, rumours are hitting social media stating the postponement of it. Chennai, January 27 - Thalapathy Vijay teamed with director Venkat Prabhu for the first time for the sci-fi action film The Greatest of All Time - GOAT. It is produced by AGS Entertainment and stars Vijay in a dual role alongside Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and SJ Suryah, among others. ## The shoot of GOAT commenced last year and is gearing up to wrap up the entire shoot in the next few weeks. Now, according to the latest reports, the makers are planning to release the film in June this year, more than 4 months from now on. The official announcement regarding the same will be made soon. ## It was recently reported that GOAT might be Thalapathy Vijay's last film as he is reportedly going to start his political party before the general elections in May this year. Chennai, January 21 - Director Nelson Dilipkumar's action drama Jailer was one of the biggest Indian blockbusters in 2023. The movie grossed over 600 crores worldwide and was the second biggest Tamil grosser of 2023 with a minor difference from Thalapathy Vijay's "Leo". ## "Jailer" was a much-needed success for superstar Rajinikanth, who made a roaring comeback after a few commercial failures. The mega success of the film led to speculations about its sequel and many reports have indicated the same.## Now, according to the latest reports, the sequel to Jailer is indeed happening and director Nelson Dilipkumar has already started work on the script of Jailer 2. The buzz is that "Jailer 2" will be Nelson's next directorial and it is likely to go on floors next year. ## Rajinikanth, meanwhile, is occupied with a couple of big projects. Netflix Announces Post-Theatrical Streaming Slate of Upcoming Tamil Films

Mumbai, January 17 - Netflix has been on an announcement spree regarding the post-theatrical streaming slate of South Indian films. The streamer recently announced several Telugu films which will stream on its platform after their theatrical run and now, it has announced Tamil titles. ## One of the biggest Tamil films to stream on Netflix after its theatrical release is superstar Ajith Kumar's VidaaMuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions. The theatrical release of the film is yet to be announced but it is expected to release either Diwali this year or Sankranthi 2025. It will stream in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. ## Netflix also has Lyca's Indian 2, starring legendary Kamal Haasan and directed by Shankar. A sequel to the 1996 blockbuster "Indian", it is easily one of the Tamil films of the year, scheduled to release during summer. It will be available to stream on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, post its theatrical release. ## Chiyaan Vikram's period action drama Thangalaan, directed by directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by Studio Green, is also grabbed by Netflix. The movie is announced for theatrical release in April 2024. Sony Pictures International Production's debut in Tamil cinema, tentatively titled SK21, also produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, is also part of the Netflix lineup. ## Among the other films, Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja directed by Nithilan Saminathan along with Keerthy Suresh-led Passion Film Factory and The Route's Revolver Rita directed by K. Chandru, Dream Warrior Pictures’ Kannivedi, SNS Productions' Sorgavaasal, and AGS Entertainment's Conjuring Kannappan is also part of Netflix's line-up. ## The unreleased films will debut on Netflix after their theatrical releases. All the films will also be available in versions dubbed in the other three southern Indian languages — Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada — and in most cases in the northern Indian language Hindi as well.## Stay tuned...
