RRR Japan Box Office Collection: Scores The Biggest First Week For An Indian Movie
Tokyo, October 29 - SS Rajamouli's mega-blockbuster RRR scored the biggest ever first-week collections at the Japan box office for an Indian movie. ## The period action drama film, which grossed over 1100 crores worldwide in its initial run at the worldwide box office, was released in Japan on October 21 on over 209 screens, including 31 IMAX screens across 44 locations. ## According to Variety, the big-screen spectacle grossed JPY73 million ($495K or Rs. 4.05 crores), making it the highest first-week collection for an Indian film in Japan. It opened at No. 10 and the top nine films were all local Japanese films. "RRR" was the highest-grossing non-Japanese film of this week. ## The website reported that "RRR" will recover its total release cost and will enter into a profit zone within 10 days or during the second weekend. "RRR" may enter the top 3 Indian movies of all time in Japan if it gets the long run over there. ## Superstar Rajinikanth's "Muthu" is currently the highest-grossing Indian film in Japan with JPY400 million, followed by Rajamouli's "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion", starring Prabhas, with JPY330 million, and Aamir Khan's "3 Idiots" with JPY170 million. ## Stay tuned...
