The reunion of the two was expected to script a blockbuster, but things have turned into a nightmare for the duo. ## Thug Life was a keenly awaited film, and it generated some hype with decent to good pre-sales. However, despite the big promises, everything has gone wrong for the film since its release, and it seems that the audience has outrightly rejected it. ## The word of mouth for the movie has been poor from the first show, which resulted in below than the expected opening, followed by a big drop on the second day as the total collection of the movie is around 50 crore gross after 2 days. ## Even though there is a holiday on Saturday and Sunday, the chances of a rebound for the movie are almost out of the equation. The audience reception is poor, as the current Google rating for the movie is under 3 out of 10, while IMDb ratings are below 5, which has made things worse and will continue to do so. ## The Google and IMDb ratings of Thug Life are among the lowest for the film in its opening weekend, and it is going down rapidly. Chennai, May 26 - Superstar Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagraj have teamed up for the first time of action drama Coolie, which is among the most-anticipated Indian movies of the year. The film, produced by Sun Pictures, boasts a solid cast which also includes Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, and Aamir Khan in key roles. ## Coolie is reportedly among the costliest Tamil movies ever with the budget of around 350 crores, according to the report by Pinkvilla. The budget includes the staggering salary of Rajinikanth and director Lokesh, along with other actors. ## As per the report, Rajini has received an upfront salary of 150 crores, which is among the highest of all time for an actor. Lokesh, on the other hand, got a pay cheque for 50 crore for the film, which is also reportedly a record for a director. ## "The remaining 150 crore have been spent on mounting the film, alongside the fees for other members of the star-cast. The total budget of Coolie excluding print and publicity is Rs 350 crore", says the report. In 10 days so far, Sachein has grossed approximately 9.50-10 crores in the state, while the worldwide collection is around 13 crores. ## The film, in its original run back in 2005, had minted around 10 crores gross worldwide, and now, the film's repeat run has overtaken it. It kicked off in mid-July 2024 and wrapped up in mid-March 2025. The filmmaker maintained his efficacy in completing his film shoots in a planned manner without causing delays. ## As the filming is done, the real question now is when the film will hit the big screens. It was originally planned for a May 2025 release but it has been postponed from there.
