Chennai, January 5 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja missed out on entering the 200 crores club at the worldwide box office despite a superb run in China where it has become the highest-grossing Indian movie since 2018. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja has been fantastic on the mainland, finishing with approximately 91.65 crores as the 10th highest-grossing Indian film there. The film was released on November 29 last year in China, and thanks to positive word of mouth, it kept climbing at the box office before running out of gas. ## Earlier, the blockbuster grossed approximately 107.50 crores worldwide and it looked like the China collection would take it past 200 crores gross. However, the film finished with a worldwide total of approximately 199 crores gross, which is nonetheless a blockbuster result. ## Maharaja has earned 83.50 crores gross in India and 115.50+ crores at the overseas box office. Chennai, December 20 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has become the highest-grossing South Indian film and the 10th biggest Indian grosser at the Chinese box office. The film has exceeded expectations in the Mainland and is crawling towards the 100 crore mark. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja has grossed approximately 85.75 crores ($10.12 million) through the third Thursday (21 days) in China, outgrossing the lifetime total of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 (80.50 crores gross) to become the biggest South Indian grosser there. ## The film's pace at the box office has slowed, so it needs to be seen if it goes on to touch the 100 crore mark in China. If it gets there, it will become the 9th biggest Indian grosser by outgrossing Toilet Ek Prem Katha (100+ crores gross). Chennai, December 19 - Kamal Haasan-fronted vigilante action thriller Indian 2 was released earlier this year amid high expectations but it ended up as the biggest failure for director Shankar at the box office and critical front.## After the debacle box office performance of Indian 2, reports emerged that Indian 3 will skip theatrical release and will directly be an OTT release. However, during a recent interview, director Shankar discussed Indian 2 failure and also confirmed the upcoming movie will be a theatrical release. ## "I didn't expect such negative reviews for Indian 2. Well, I have moved on. I believe my work on Game Changer and Indian 3 will speak for itself. Chennai, December 14 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has crossed 100 crores gross collection at the overseas box office, including more than 75% contribution from China where the movie is approaching the century mark alone. ## Maharaja had minted approximately 24 crores gross overseas in its original run and upon its China release on November 29, it has grossed approximately 76+ crores gross there in 15 days. This took the total international collection of Maharaja to 100+ crores gross and there is still more to come. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, the movie is also nearing the 200 crores gross mark at the global box office and it should get there with major help from the Chinese market. It has already become the highest-grossing Tamil movie on the mainland. ## After grossing approximately 26.50 crores in the opening weekend (including premiers), Maharaja showed a stronghold on Monday by scoring 3 crore gross. The movie has shown an upward trend since Monday as the collection for the rest of the week was higher than the previous day (from Tuesday to Thursday). ## The Nithilan Swaminathan's directorial minted $4.82 million (40.80 crores gross) in the full first week which is a fantastic total. Maharaja is the highest-grossing Indian movie in China since Thugs Of Hindostan in November 2018. Chennai, December 1 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has become the 15th highest-grossing Indian movie at the Chinese box office after a very good opening weekend which saw the film crossing the $3 million mark there. ## After scoring $2.30 million (19.50 crores gross) in the first 2 days (including premieres), Maharaja scored approximately 900K (7.50 crores gross) on Sunday, pushing the total collection to around $3.2 million (27 crores) in the opening weekend. ## With $3.2 million, Maharaja has become the 15th highest-grossing Indian movie in China (in terms of dollars) while in Indian currency, it has become the 13th biggest grosser there by beating Drishyam (27 crore gross), Kaabil (23.50 crores gross), and 102 Not Out (22.50 crores gross). ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja's next target is Aamir Khan's Thugs Of Hindostan which grossed approximately 60 crores in China. Chennai, November 30 - Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan has taken a giant step towards becoming the next big star in Tamil cinema with his latest war action drama film Amaran which has emerged as the biggest Tamil blockbuster of the year and one of the biggest in recent times. ## Released on October 31, the Rajkumar Periasamy's directorial has bossed the box office, grossing approximately 325 crores worldwide in 30 days so far. It is the second highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All-Time. ## Amaran has benefitted from the extended theatrical window which has been normalized to just 4 weeks by the industry. The blockbuster run of the film prompted the makers to extend the window by 1 more week and it will now arrive after 35 days which is the first for a recent Tamil title. ## On Saturday (November 30), Netflix announced that Amaran would start streaming from December 5, which is 35 days after the theatrical release. Chennai, November 30 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja is having a fantastic time at the Chinese box office and has crossed 20 crore gross mark in just 2 days (including premieres) and is heading towards a very good opening weekend collection. ## After grossing $633K+ (5.40 crores gross) in the premieres, followed by $550K (4.60 crores gross) on the first day, the Nithilan Saminathan's directorial venture breached the million dollar mark on Saturday (2nd day), thanks the positive word of mouth there. ## According to the local box office platform ENT Group, Maharaja has grossed approximately $1.10 million (9.30 crores gross) on its second day, pushing the total collection to around $2.30 million (19.50 crores gross) at the Chinese box office in 2 days. This is the first Indian movie in recent times to cross this particular milestone in China. ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja minted approximately 5.40 crores gross ($635K or ¥4.6 million) in the premieres. It had a full-fledged release on November 29 and the film grossed $550K+ (4.65 crores gross) on its first day, according to the local box office website, ENT Group. ## The total collection of Maharaja is $1.18 million (10 crores gross).
