Chennai, March 10 - The hugely-anticipated action drama Jailer 2 starring superstar Rajinikanth has commenced filming today. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, the movie was recently announced with a promo teaser, generating huge hype. ## Sequel to the mega-blockbuster Jailer (2023) - the shoot of Jailer 2 is said to have begun in Chennai. The first schedule is reportedly around 15 days and superstar Rajinikanth will join it soon. As the stakes are high and the hype is on the next level, the movie will be mounted on a scale and budget bigger than the first film. ## The makers haven't confirmed the remaining cast yet but it is said that most of the original cast will return to reprise their roles in the sequel. Chennai, March 9 - Actor Pradeep Ranganathan's coming-of-age comedy-drama Dragon has become the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2025 at the domestic box office and is to become globally at the end of the third Sunday by beating Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi. ## Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, Dragon has topped 100 crores gross in India on its 16th day (3rd Saturday) and become the first Tamil title of the year to do so. It has surpassed the domestic gross total of Vidaamuyarchi (96 crores gross) to be the number 1 Tamil title of the year.## The domestic collection of 101.50+ crores gross of Dragon includes 68.50 crores gross in Tamil Nadu which is the second highest of the year after Vidaamuyarchi (78 crores gross). Additionally, Dragon has had a superb run in Telugu states so far, grossing approximately 19 crores, followed by around 10 crores in Karnataka, and 4+ crores gross in the rest of the domestic market.## Worldwide, Dragon has grossed approximately 132 crores, including around 30.50 crores at the overseas box office. The film will surpass Vidaamuyarchi's total worldwide collection of 136 crores at the end of the 17thd day to become the biggest Tamil grosser of the year, so far.## Pradeep Ranganathan - A Star in the Making?## The success of Dragon might be the birth of a star in the making, Pradeep Ranganathan. He started his career as a YouTuber, and when his time came, he rose to the occasion on the big stage called cinema. Apart from being an actor, Pradeep is also a writer and director, and he made his directorial debut with Comali (2019) which was a blockbuster.## Pradeep made his acting debut with Comali, but as a lead hero, he debuted with the 2022 romantic comedy, Love Today which emerged as a huge success with 83+ crores gross collection worldwide. And now, in his just second film, the actor has debuted in the 100 crores club, which is a huge achievement to claim. Chennai, March 3 - Actor-filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan is taking giant steps towards becoming the next big thing in Tamil cinema after scoring his maiden 100 crores grosser in the form of Dragon which is his only second film as a lead actor. The first film, Love Today (2022) was also a huge blockbuster but missed out on 100 crores gross by a small margin. ## Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the coming-of-age comedy-drama has been a box-office triumph since the day it was released on February 21. On the back of positive reviews and reception from the audience, Dragon scored a big opening and showed a stronghold during weekdays. ## The film entered the second weekend after one of the biggest first-week collections for a young hero and on its 10th day, it entered the 100 crores club at the worldwide box office. In India, the movie has grossed approximately 84 crores, including around 57 crores in Tamil Naud while overseas collection is approximately 25 crores for the global 10 days' total of 109 crores gross. ## Dragon is only the second Tamil movie after Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi (136 crores gross) and the 7th Indian title of 2025 to enter the 100 crores club. The film is headlined by the rising Tamil star Pradeep Ranganathan who has also written the script with Ashwath Marimuthu. ## Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, Dragon has completed its first week, grossing approximately 77.50 crores at the worldwide box office. This already makes it the second highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2025, behind only Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi (136 crores gross). ## Released on February 21, Dragon opened to super positive reviews and reception from the audience which led to the biggest opening for the actor with double-digit numbers worldwide.
