Los Angeles, February 17 - Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World had an impressive 3-day opening weekend domestically despite the mixed reviews and word of mouth. Overseas, the superhero movie came lower than expected.## The movie, starring Anthony Mackie in the titular role, matched or slightly battered the trade projection in North America, grossing $88.5 million over its Friday to Sunday weekend with 5.7 million Americans stepping out to watch the film, according to Deadline. ## The Brave New World is estimated to gross $100+ million over its 4-day President's holiday weekend (Friday - Monday). This makes it the fourth biggest Presidents Day weekend ever after Black Panther ($242M), Deadpool ($152M) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120M). ## Overseas, the movie scored $92.4 million from 52 overseas markets through Sunday for a worldwide cume total of $180.9 million. It was projected to gross $110 million but it underperformed in China where a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon called Ne Zha 2 is going bonkers. China was still the biggest overseas market for Captain America 4 with $10.5 million. ## In India, the film also underperformed with an estimated $1.65 million. Captain America: Brave New World was the second highest-grossing movie worldwide this past weekend, behind Chinese mega-blockbuster Ne Zha 2 which grossed over $270 million in the domestic market alone for a running worldwide total of $1.63 billion.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, February 16 - Maddock Films strikes again as its historical action drama Chhaava stormed past 100 crores net collection after the explosive first Sunday domestically. The movie is defying projections to run riot at the box office and is turning into a phenomenon. ## Starring Vicky Kaushal in the title role, Chhaava is flirting with the half-century collection on Sunday as early estimates suggest the third-day total to be in the range of 47-50 crores, depending on the performance in the smaller centres. ## The movie continues to work wonders in Maharashtra but the ever-spreading word-of-mouth is making sure it brings other regions to the game and that's exactly what is happening. Hyderabad, February 16 - Tamil star Suriya is set to make his return to Tollywood after 15 years to headline a straight Telugu movie. The actor did Ram Gopal Varma's political action thriller Rakta Charitra 2 (2010) which was a Telugu and Hindi bilingual movie. ## According to the latest Telugu media reports, the Singam star will team up with director Venky Atluri to do a direct Telugu movie which will be produced by Naga Vamsi under the banner of Sithara Entertainment. The shoot for the same is expected to commence in May this year. ## While the exact details of the project are not known yet, it is said that the upcoming film will be a heist thriller. The technical crew which worked for Atluri's last movie, Dulquer Salmaan-fronted Lucky Baskhar is likely to reunite for this Suriya film. Bhagyashri Borse is reportedly playing the female lead while GV Prakash Kumar will score the music.## Suriya is currently shooting for RJ Balaji's Tamil movie and he will jump to Atluri's next immediately after wrapping it up. In India, Chhaava has grossed approximately 81.50 crores while overseas business is around 18.50 crores in 2 days. ## This is Vicky Kaushal's 6th movie and Rashmika Mandanna's 8th title in the 100 crores club at the worldwide box office. The genre and other aspects are kept under wraps for now, but it is said that the subject is close to the director's heart and is set to make it with Gangubai Kathiawadi star. ## Alia too has reportedly loved the world that Nag is looking to create and she is excited to collaborate with the maverick filmmaker. It still performed much better than all other movies, scoring approximately 1.10 crores net collection on its second Friday. ## The total collection of the film is around 27.60+ crores net after 8 days and it needs another less than 5 crores more to become the biggest re-release grosser in India, beating last year's blockbuster Tumbbad (32 crores net). Now, Santoshi's one more cult classic, Ghatak, starring Sunny Deol is gearing up for re-launch. ## According to the report by Bollywood Hungama, the iconic action drama, which was a huge success in its original release in 1996, will be re-released in cinemas across the country on February 28. In a drastic turn of events from the original run, the movie is proving to be a mega success at the box office. ## On Thursday (day 7), Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru's directorial minted approximately 2.15 crores net collection, pushing the first week total to around 26.50+ crores net. This already makes it the second biggest re-release grosser at the Indian box office. ## Sanam Teri Kasam has competition in the second week from Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, however, the movie is expected to continue to do well among the youth and couples. 'Chhaava' Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, February 13 - Vicky Kaushal reunited with director Laxman Utekar after the success of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke for the historical action drama Chhaava, based on the life of Maratha king Sambhaji. It also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in prominent roles along with others. ## Chhaava is one of the biggest Bollywood historical action drama films and is set to take possibly the biggest start in this genre. Slated to hit the big screens on February 14, the movie was censored with a U/A certificate with an approved theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 41 minutes. ## Produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, Chhaava is expected to be released on over 3500 screens and the pre-sales for the same is fantastic, added by allegedly some share of self-bookings. Even without it, the bookings are easily the best for a Bollywood title of the year. ## As of 8 PM on February 13, the film has sold around 400K tickets worth over 11 crores gross collection for the opening day. The final sales can finish around 13 crores, setting the stage for a big opening. These sorts of pre-sales can drive the opening of close to 25 crores net which will put the film as number 1 in the historical genre. ## Chhaava is expected to perform strongly in the Maharastra region due to the regional feel and the pre-sales are also driven by this region. The opening of the film may differ depending on the performance in other parts of the country but at this point, it looks like a 23-25 crores net opener which is fantastic. ## The trade is expecting Chhaava to explode in Maharastra to emerge big success if word of mouth is positive.
