Mumbai, October 23 - It was a quiet weekend at the Bollywood box office as new films disappointed big-time, led by Tiger Shroff's "Ganapath", and T-Series' "Yaariyan 2". Both movies combined collected just approximately 8.50 crores net which was lower than Thalapathy Vijay's "Leo" Hindi collection of approximately 9.50 crores during the same weekend. ## While new films couldn't do much, the holdover movies too are running out of gas. Akshay Kumar's Mission Raniganj, which had an underwhelming first two weeks, scored approx. 1.20 crore net collection in its 3rd weekend. The film's total collection stands at 31.20 crores net after 17 days. The overall collection of "Mission Raniganj" is low, and the final collection is heading for under 35 crores net. ## Fukrey 3 is still keeping its hope alive to touch the 100 crores net mark though the chances are very slim for the same. The comic entertainer was the second-best performer among the holdover films and collected approximately 90 lakh net in its 4th weekend. The total net collection of the movie has reached around 94.25 crores after 25 days and heading towards finishing around 97 crores net collection. ## Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's mega-blockbuster Jawan is still collecting despite being in its 7th week. Atlee Kumar's directorial action drama flick is already the highest-grossing Indian movie of the year as well as the biggest Bollywood grosser of all time domestically. In its 7th weekend, "Jawan" scored approx. 80 lakh net, pushing the total collection to 580.90 crores in the original Hindi version. Mumbai, October 23 - It was a dull weekend for Bollywood after new releases died down without even putting a challenge. It has been a kind of year for the industry which has witnessed either highway or noway at the box office, and the just concluded weekend proved to be a latter one. ## Pooja Entertainment's ambitious sci-fi action drama Ganapath: A Hero Is Born, starring Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, looked promising before the release and had some hope as far as the box office was concerned, but it completely rejected by the audiences once it hit the big screens. ## Directed by Vikas Bahl, "Ganapath" scored the lowest opening weekend ever for Tiger Shroff after it minted just approximately 7 crores net collection in 3 days. The movie got a poor reception from critics and the audiences, and that is where the fate of the movie was sealed. The movie is heading towards finishing below the 15 crores mark, becoming one of the biggest disasters for Tiger and Kriti, who debuted together in 2014 with the hit "Heropanti". ## The second movie of the weekend, Yaariyan 2, directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, also failed to repeat the first movie's success and had a poor opening weekend with just approximately 1.50 crores net in the first 3-day weekend. The movie wasn't carrying much expectations given the current scenario but was still expected to be a worthy successor which couldn't happen. It will struggle to reach even a 5 crore lifetime collection which is very disappointing. ## While both Bollywood movies failed miserably, it was the dubbed version of Thalapathy Vijay's blockbuster "Leo", which dominated the Hindi box office. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the action drama comfortably beat the combined collection of "Ganapath" and "Yaariyan", and scored approximately 9.40 crores net collection over a 4-day extended opening weekend. ## "Leo" could have easily scored much more in Hindi had it been released in multiplexes which refused to screen it due to a short theatrical window. It surpassed the lifetime collection of "Varisy", which grossed approximately 298 crores earlier this year. ## Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, "Leo" grossed an estimated 68 crores worldwide on Sunday, pushing the total collection to 360+ crores during the extended opening weekend. In India, the movie was easily the number 1 with approximately 213 crores while overseas, it scored an estimated $18 million (149 crores) through Sunday. ## "Leo" was also one of the highest-grossing films worldwide during the weekend of October 20 - October 22, 2023. Kochi, October 22 - The box office rampage of Thalapathy Vijay's mega-hit Leo continued on its 3rd day as the total worldwide collection got nearer to the 300 crores gross mark. ## Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, "Leo" has broken many records in the first three days at the domestic and overseas box office. Among the major records, the film has become Thalapathy Vijay's highest-grossing film in Kerala state in just 3 days. ## The action drama film scored approximately 7 crores gross on its 3rd day, pushing total collection to approx. 24.85 crores in Kerala. "Leo" surpassed the lifetime total of "Bigil" which grossed 19+ crores to become Thalapathy's biggest grosser in the state. It is now the 3rd biggest Tamil movie in the state, behind "Jailer" (57 crores) and "Vikram" (40 crores). ## "Leo" was sold for all-time record price in Kerala and despite the mixed talks, it will reach the break-even target within a week. The movie dropped just around 45% on Friday for approx. 35 crores net after the huge opening day of approx. 65 crores net.## Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, "Leo" topped 100 crores net in just two days, becoming the fastest Tamil movie to reach the mark by beating Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's "2.0" which scored approx. 98 crores net in the first two days. However, in terms of gross collection, "2.0" had a higher two-day collection with 126 crores than "Leo" which minted approx. 118 crores domestic gross collection. ## At the overseas box office, the Thalapathy Vijay-led movie grossed an estimated 90 crores in two days, pushing worldwide collection to approx. 208 crores gross. With this, it has become the fastest Tamil movie to top 200 crores gross globally. ## "Leo" got mixed to positive reception from critics as well as the audiences but it didn't affect the collection much and is unlikely to affect, at least, for the weekend. Chennai, October 19 - Thalapathy Vijay's "Leo" has taken a historic start at the box office. The massive opening was assured with the kind of advance booking it scored and at the end of the day, it opened in the expected lines. ## The all-India opening of the film is estimated to be around 75 crores gross. In Tamil Nadu, the opening is estimated to be around 30 crores gross. It could have easily been more had the early morning shows been allowed in the state but that wasn't the case, still, it has taken an excellent start. ## In the Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), the movie has scored an estimated 15 crores gross, followed by 14 crores in Karnataka, and approx. 11 crores in Kerala. The rest of India's estimated collection is approx. 4 crores.## As reported earlier, "Leo" has become the first film ever to score a double-digit opening in each of the South Indian states (Andhra and Telangana combined). Mumbai, October 19 - The long-awaited sci-fi action thriller Ganapath - A Hero Is Born, starring Tiger Shroff in the titular role, is finally hitting big screens tomorrow, October 20. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the film also has Kriti Sanon as the female lead alongside Amitabh Bachchan in a key role. ## "Ganapath" has been censored "U/A" with the approved runtime of 2 hours and 15 minutes. The buzz for the movie hasn't been to the mark the makers would have hoped for and can clearly be seen in the advance booking. The pre-sales was opened a few days ago and the response has been low. ## As of 8 PM on October 19, "Ganapath" sold 55K tickets worth 1 crore gross and the final advance booking is expected to be around 1.50 crores, which is decent. With this sort of advance, the movie is looking to open around 4 crores net and if the word of mouth is positive, it might go further towards 5-6 crores or maybe more. ## "Ganapath" being a big-budget film will heavily depend on the spot booking which will be decided by the audiences' reception. This is the first movie for Tiger since "Heropanti 2" in April 2022.
