Chennai, October 9 - Blockbuster Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1 sees a small jump in its second Sunday box office collection at the domestic box office, after taking a huge jump of over 65% on Saturday. The collection, however, is huge with an estimated 18-19 crores gross on Sunday. ## Directed by Mani Ratnam, "PS-1" has been doing exceptionally well so far and with Sunday's estimates, the total domestic gross collection has crossed the 250 crores mark for around 253 crores. At the Tamil Nadu box office, "PS-1" scored an estimated 14-15 crores on Sunday, pushing the total collection in the state to around 168 crores. ## "PS-1" has already become the second biggest movie in Tamil Nadu, and by the end of the second week, it is expected to become the biggest ever by crossing Kamal Haasan's "Vikram" which grossed approx. 180.50 crores. "PS-1" is on its way to becoming the first film ever to score 200 crores gross in Tamil Nadu state, and with the current trend, it may reach there by the end of the third weekend. ## The movie is also doing well in the dubbed Hindi version and reached about 21.80 crores gross, including an estimated 2.20 crores on Sunday. It is eyeing 30+ crores gross in the Hindi version in its lifetime run. ## On the other hand, Kannada sensation Kantara has crossed 50 crores net, after an estimated 9-9.50 crores on its second Sunday. Today was the biggest day for the movie so far at the domestic box office and with this, the movie has reached about 66 crores gross at the worldwide box office. ## The Rishab Shetty-starrer adventure action thriller film is on its way to becoming another Kannada movie to score 100 crores at the box office. It is likely to reach there during the third weekend. Release Plans Locked For Kamal Haasan's Blockbuster 'Indian 2' With Director Shankar

Chennai, October 9 - After delivering the biggest blockbuster of his career in the form of Vikram, legendary actor Kamal Haasan has resumed the shoot of his most-awaited vigilante action drama Indian 2 with director Shankar. The movie is the sequel to their 1996 path-breaking blockbuster film. ## The journey for "Indian 2" hasn't had a smooth one as it had to go through many delays and postponements due to financial and other issues. There was a time when the movie almost got shelved, but thanks to the continued efforts by the producers, the shoot recently resumed and now currently going on in full swing. ## The movie will feature Kamal Haasan in the lead role along with Kajal Agarwal as the female lead, Gulshan Grover, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Samuthirakani, and Bobby Simha, among others in supporting roles. Meanwhile, the makers are planning to wrap up the shoot by the first quarter of 2023 while they reportedly have release plans locked. ## According to Pinkvilla sources, the "Indian 2" team is targeting either a Dussehra or Diwali 2023 release across the country in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. Mumbai, October 9 - Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's period action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1 is rocking at the box office as it crossed the 350 crores mark in just 9 days. The Hindi version of the movie was released by Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios.## Jayantilal Gada has had success this year with the Hindi version of South Indian films like "RRR", "Vikram", and "Sita Ramam" along with "PS-1", which has so far scored over 16 crores net. Interestingly, there will be the second parts of "Vikram" and "Ponniyin Selvan", and Jayantilal Gada believes that these two films will be huge hits in the Hindi version. ## "Vikram has established the future of this franchise in Hindi belts. Part 2 will be a blockbuster. The same can be said for PS 2 as well. More and more people will watch both Vikram and PS 1 on the OTT world until the sequel arrives. If Sita Ramam team decides to make a sequel, even that will be a success story in Hindi", the producer said during the conversation with Pinkvilla. ## Pen Studios has been a regular collaborator of South Indian films for the Hindi market. "We are tailor-made for the south partners. We are the most transparent studio in Bollywood and that's why we are the first choice. We believe in doing business basis the trust", he added.## Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 was shot simultaneously with the first part and it will go into post-production soon. Chennai, October 8 - Blockbuster period action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1 sees an excellent jump of over 55% on its second Saturday at the domestic box office and grossed an estimated 17-18 crores. The total domestic gross collection is now approx. 235 crores. ## Directed by Mani Ratnam, "PS-1" has crossed the 150 crores mark in the home state, Tamil Nadu, after scoring an estimated 11-12 crore gross on the second Friday. It is the fastest film ever to reach the milestone and is only the third film after "Vikram" and "Baahubali The Conclusion" to do so. ## "Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1" is sure to become the biggest grosser in Tamil Nadu while it also has real shot to become the first ever to enter 200 crores club. Meanwhile, the Hindi version of the movie is performing very well and sees a jump of almost 100% on its 9th day for an estimated 1.70 crores net. Chennai, October 7 - Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1 scores excellent second Friday at the domestic box office after registering one of the biggest first weeks for an Indian movie. ## The epic period action drama film had grossed over 321 crores worldwide in the first week and begins the second week with a solid estimated 11-12 crores gross for all languages. The drop from Sunday is approx. 23% which is excellent hold. ## The movie grossed approx. 132 crores in the home state, Tamil Nadu in the first week, and adds another 7-8 crores more on the second Friday. The total gross collection of the movie in the state is approx. 138 crores which are the 5th highest of all time. By the end of the 2nd weekend, the movie will become the second biggest movie in the state, and then the race to become the biggest will start. ## On the other hand, the Kannada blockbuster Kantara is in a rampage mode and starts the second weekend with a solid estimated 5-5.25 crores net. Chennai, October 7 - Superstar Rajinikanth is currently shooting for director Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer, which is scheduled to release in 2023. It is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. ## Now, according to the latest reports, the superstar has signed a two-film deal with one of the prominent production houses Lyca Productions. ## While the details about the projects are yet to be revealed, the first film, tentatively titled "Thalaivar 170", will reportedly be directed by Cibi Chakravarthy who recently scored a blockbuster with Sivakarthikeyan's "Don". ## The second film in the deal is likely to be directed by Rajinikanth's daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth, and reports indicate that the Superstar will have a small role in the film and is not playing the lead. The total collection in the state has reached approx. 140 crores and it is expected to near 200 crores by the end of the second weekend. ## After the original Tamil language, the dubbed Hindi version has been the most fruitful for the movie. It minted 13.4 crores net in the first 6 days and mints approx. 80 lakh more on Thursday. The previous record belonged to Kamal Haasan's recently released all-time blockbuster Vikram which grossed £0.881 million (£881K) in its lifetime run. ## "PS-1" took just 6 days to reach 1 million pounds in the UK. Interestingly, "PS-1" is the 43rd highest-grossing Indian film of all-time and the fourth of 2022 to score £1 million in the UK, after the highest-grossing Indian film of 2022 KGF: Chapter 2 (£1.15M), the highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (£1.03M), and RRR (£1.03M). ## Meanwhile, after breaking the Tamil movie record in the UK, "PS-1" is now on its way to becoming the biggest Tamil grosser in the USA as well. Chennai, October 5 - Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions' epic period action drama film Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 has crossed 300 crores at the worldwide box office through the first Wednesday (6 days). ## The Mani Ratnam-directed film scored an estimated 24 crores gross on its first Monday, dropping approx. 7% from Tuesday. The total domestic gross collection has also crossed the 200 crores mark, for approx. 201 crores. "PS-1" is the second Tamil movie of 2022 to score 200 crores gross domestically.## Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name, "Ponniyin Selva - 1" continues to score big in the home state, Tamil Nadu as it grossed an estimated 17.50 crores more on Wednesday, pushing total collection in TN to over 130 crores in just 6 days. ## With the way "PS-1" is performing in Tamil Nadu, it is looking a sure shot 200 crores grosser in the state, which will make it the first ever film to achieve the feat.
