RRR Japan Box Office Collection: Creates Another Record For An Indian Movie

Mumbai, November 25 - The victorious march of SS Rajamouli's ridiculously epic action drama RRR continues at the Japan box office as the movie is climbing new heights there with each passing day. ## The movie, starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan in the lead, has completed 5 weeks since its release in Japan. In 34 days at the box office, "RRR" has grossed ¥305 million (17.90 crores). It is the fastest Indian movie ever to reach ¥300 million in Japan, beating "Baahubali 2's" record.## Produced by DVV Entertainment, "RRR" has generated approx. 204K footfalls in 34 days and the makers have claimed that it has surpassed Rajamouli's own film "Baahubali 2's" lifetime collection to become the second highest-grossing Indian movie in Japan after Rajinikanth's "Muthu". ## "RRR" is having a solid run so far at the Japan box office, and with this current pace, it should easily cross "Muthu", which grossed ¥400 million, to become the biggest Indian movie of all time there. At the worldwide box office, it has grossed approx. 1135 crores ($139M) since its original release in March this year.## Meanwhile, apart from its continuous box office hunt, "RRR" is also aiming to strike gold with Oscars 2023 nominations. RC 16: Ram Charan Finalizes His Next After Shankar's Film

Hyderabad, November 23 - Tollywood superstar Ram Charan is busy with the shoot of director Shankar's yet untitled political thriller film, "RC15". The actor was supposed to team up with the "Jersey" director Gowtam Tinnanuri for "RC 16", however, that movie has reportedly been shelved as Charan was not satisfied with the script.## Now, according to the latest reports, the "RRR" star will be doing "Uppena" director Buchi Babu Sana next. The movie is touted to be a sports drama, along the lines of Aamir Khan's "Dangal". The script has reportedly been completed and makers are planning to take the movie on floors after Sankranthi 2023. ## The official confirmation from the makers of "RC 16" is yet to be made, but it is said that Sathish Kilaru will be producing this big-budget film. The script is said to be the same which was reportedly offered to Jr. NTR a few months back but he couldn't do it due to unknown reasons. The shoot of the movie was done a long time back but due to the heavy VFX, the post-production work is taking a bit longer time than expected.## Meanwhile, as the post-production is happening, the makers released the first teaser of the superhero movie, which is based on the epic character of the epic Ramayana, Lord Hanuman, but the story is based on current times. The teaser gives a brief view into the world created by Varma, and it can be termed an ambitious attempt at India's original superhero.## Made on a relatively lower budget than other VFX-heavy films, the "HanuMan" teaser is nothing short of a visual extravaganza. Hyderabad, November 14 - The OTT platforms have been on the rise since the covid-19 pandemic and they have also caused threats to the theatrical biz, especially the low and medium-budgeted films. To save small films, the Tollywood film industry recently announced some rules regarding post-theatrical OTT releases.## The Tollywood producers decided in August this year that all producers must hold their theatrical movies for at least weeks before releasing them on digital platforms. It was a welcome move from the producers' council and was lauded by the filmmakers. ## Despite the big promises, it seems the Telugu producers have forgotten their own rules regarding OTT releases, making a mockery of the so-called unity in the Producers council. Since the rule has come into effect, there have many films that haven't followed the 6-week rule. ## Movies like Swathi Muthyam and Ori Devuda were released on OTT within 3 weeks. Nagarjuna Akkineni's "The Ghost" too didn't follow the rule and was available to stream on the digital platform within 4 weeks. The thing here to notice is that producers do not follow rules if they are not beneficial for them. ## The Telugu film industry has been one of the major contributors to the all-India theatrical business post the covid-19 pandemic, but the early OTT release of the films has been affecting distributors and theater owners the most. Hyderabad, November 13 - Thalapathy Vijay's family action drama film Varisu/Vaarasudu is unlikely to get a big release in Telugu states despite the film being directed by senior and one of the biggest Telugu producers Dil Raju. ## "Varisu" is a Tamil movie that will also release in Telugu as "Vaarasudu". It is directed by Telugu director Vamshi Paidipally. Producer Dil Raju holds a huge command over the theatrical exhibition of the films and it was one of the reasons that he was able to book more theaters than the direct Telugu movies for "Varisu" in Telugu states.## Now, Telugu Producers Council has taken note of the aforementioned situation and has asked Dil Raju to not prioritize dubbed movies over direct Telugu films.
