Hyderabad, January 1 - Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan struck the gold in 2022 with his classic blockbuster films. The actor's "Jalsa" and "Kushi" got re-released in theaters and did really well at the box office despite the limited release. ## Now, according to the latest reports, one more classic blockbuster of Pawan Kalyan is getting ready to hit theaters in February 2023. It is said that A. Karunakaran-directed romantic drama film Tholi Prema (1998) which featured Pawan Kalyan and Keerthi Reddy in the leading roles, will be re-released in theaters in February. ## The "Tholi Prema" producers are planning to release the film in the remastered 4K print and the makers have already begun work for the same. Hyderabad, December 29 - The Sankranthi 2023 race at the Tamil and Telugu box office is heating up with some of the biggest South Indian superstars coming to take on each other. It will be Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu (12 Jan.) and Ajith Kumar's Thunivu (11 Jan.) at the Tamil box office while megastar Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya (13 Jan.) and Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy (12 Jan.) in Telugu. ## The Telugu box office seems to be more complicated this festival season as the aforementioned Telugu films will be facing tough competition with the above-mentioned Tamil blockbuster. Mythri Movie Makers, one of the biggest production houses in Telugu, has produced "Waltair Veerayya" and "Veera Simha Reddy". ## Producer Dil Raju, the powerhouse in the Telugu industry, has produced Thalapathy Vijay's "Varisu" which will also be released in the Telugu language as "Varasudu". This move has already shaken up the Telugu film fraternity as Dil Raju has a huge command over theaters and it is said that he has booked the maximum number of screens for "Varisu" and now, he has thrown another big card to make the box office race intense further. ## It has been confirmed that Dil Raju has acquired the Telugu distribution rights of Ajith Kumar's "Thunivu" which might be worrisome news for Mythri producers who are already facing trouble for not getting enough theaters for their two straight Telugu films. The maverick filmmaker's recent films - "Baahubali" films and "RRR" made a huge impact on audiences across the world and made Rajamouli arguably the biggest director in India. ## The blockbuster director has time and again spoken about his dream project which is epic Mahabharta. Speaking about the same, Rajamouli had said in one of the interviews earlier this year that he needs to learn more craft to helm this epic, and he has once reiterated that same.## During a recent interview with Deadline, Rajamouli was asked about his dream project. The filmmaker said that he wanted to direct big-scale war films for a long time and with "Baahubali", he achieved that goal, and now, "Mahabharata" is something that he would love to direct someday. ## "For a long time I wanted to do a big-scale war film, but that I have done with Baahubali, so my goal, or my dream, has been fulfilled. So, the biggest one for me would be to direct Mahabharata, the Indian epic. That would probably be a 10-year project. That would be my biggest dream. Hopefully, one day I'll do that", Rajamouli said. ## Mahabharta is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India in Hinduism, the other being the Rāmāyaṇa. Rama Rao Jr. (N.T.R.) in the leading role, "RRR" has been immensely successful in the west and made Rajamouli a filmmaker to watch out for there. This unbelievable success of the movie has led to the discussion of its sequel. ## Rajamouli revealed that he initially had dropped the idea of making the RRR's sequel, but when he witnessed the massive response in the West and seriously gave thought to make "RRR". The blockbuster filmmaker recently revealed that he asked his writer-father, V. Vijayendra Prasad, to develop the story on it.## "Whenever a film succeeds, as writers, me, my father, my cousin, we sit and we discuss whether it can be taken forward. We usually have some good ideas because we're high on the success of the film. The same thing happened with RRR. There were some good ideas, but not compelling ones".## "Then, after coming to the U.S. and seeing the reaction, I was talking about my experiences to my father, and suddenly my cousin came up with an idea. I thought, "Wow, this is a great idea — this has to be developed into a script!" So, I asked my father to write a script based on that fantastic idea, and now he's in the process of developing it. The actor's action thriller Krack, which was released in January 2021, grossed approx. 60 crores worldwide and was declared a blockbuster. ## After "Krack", Ravi Teja had to wait for his next release due to the severe covid-19 outbreak, and when his next film "Khiladi" was released in February 2022, things weren't the same this time, and the movie was bombed at the box office. He had hoped to turn the tide with "Ramarao On Duty", released in July, but it turned out to be an even bigger disaster, leaving the makers shocked. ## It was always about one good film for the actor to back in the game and it finally came in the form of "Dhamaka". The Trinadha Rao Nakkina-directed film was released during the Christmas weekend on December 23 and opened to favorable reviews and box office numbers. ## "Dhamaka" had a very good opening weekend and did really well on Monday to put approx. 33 crores gross worldwide in 4 days. It is certain that "Dhamaka" will achieve the break-even target within the first week and will turn a profit for the distributors. It is all about how far it will go at the box office which will decide its final verdict. ## Since there is no notable big Telugu release this year anymore, "Dhamaka" might be the last hit of the year for the Tollywood film industry, unless the remaining films surprise. Mumbai, December 25 - Book My Show, the online movie ticket portal, recently revealed the top 10 movies of 2022 with the highest number of tickets sold on its platform. Yash-fronted "KGF: Chapter 2" has been the most-watched Indian film of 2022 with over 50 million footfalls in theaters. ## Apart from revealing the top 10 movies, Book My Show also revealed which Indian cities witnessed the highest number of footfalls this year. While the portal didn't reveal the number of tickets, it announced that Hyderabad sold the highest number of tickets this year on BMS. ## The Telugu film industry has had great success this year, led by SS Rajamouli's mega-blockbuster "RRR" along with Mahesh Babu's "Sarkaru Vaari Paata", "Bheemla Nayak", "Karthikeya 2", and "Sita Ramam" along with many others. Kannada biggie, "KGF: Chapter 2" also did excellent business in Telugu states. ## The silicon valley of India, Bengaluru was also the top contributor to the Indian film industry as BMS announced it sold the second-highest number of movie tickets in the city in 2022. The Kannada film industry has been the biggest box office contributor this year, thanks to the biggest grosser of the year "KGF 2", along with the surprise monster blockbuster "Kantara", "777 Charlie", and "Vikrant Rona". ## The Hindi film industry wasn't top of its game in 2022 but still, the key contribution from the films like "Brahmastra", "The Kashmir Files", "Drishyam 2", and "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" along with the huge contribution from the Hindi versions of "KGF 2", "RRR", and "Kantara", Mumbai scored the 3rd highest number of footfalls this year, as per BMS. The aforementioned films also attracted Delhi NCR audience as it ranked 4th in the list. ## The Tamil film industry also performed well, led by two 400+ crores grossers - "Ponniyin Selvan Part - 1" and "Vikram" this year as Chennai city scored 5th highest number of tickets sold. India's Official Oscars 2023 Entry 'Last Film Show' Gets Shortlisted; SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' Snubbed

Mumbai, December 22 - Gujarati-language coming-of-age drama film, Chhello Show (Last Film Show) has been shortlisted in the 'International Feature Film' category at the Oscars 2023. ## The "Last Film Show" was selected as India's official entry for the Academy Awards 2023 over public favorite SS Rajamouli's mega-blockbuster RRR. Directed by Pan Nalin, the movie will now be competing with 14 other films in the international feature film category to grab a place in the top 5 films, which will be announced on January 24.## The 'Naatu Naatu' song from "RRR" has been shortlisted in the original song category, becoming the first-ever Indian song ever to be shortlisted for the Academy Awards. However, the movie received disappointments in other categories. ## "RRR" was submitted in 15 general categories, including Best Film. It was predicted to score nominations in the Visual Effects category, but was snubbed and couldn't make it to the top 10 shortlists for the nominations. Hyderabad, December 19 - A new year treat is awaiting the fans of Powerstar Pawan Kalyan as his classic blockbuster Kushi is gearing up for a re-release in theaters.## Directed by S. J. Suryah, "Kushi", which also starred Bhumika Chawla as the female lead, will be re-released on the evening of the new year 2023 (31st December) in India and overseas on a record number of screens in the 4K remastered version.## It was reported that some promotional content for Pawan Kalyan's upcoming period action drama film "Hari Hara Veera Mallu" will also be added to "Kushi" as both films are produced by AM Ratnam.
