The movie has been creating a sensation ever since the advance booking opened in India and worldwide and this has led it to create records. ## Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan pre-sales have crossed 10 crore gross in India for the opening day (including fan shows) while worldwide sales are nearing 30 crore gross. With this, it has become the biggest Malayalam opener of all time worldwide with pre-sales only. ## The previous biggest Mollywood opener was Mohanlal's Marakkar (20+ crores gross) and Empuraan is already 10 crores more with still 5 days left for the release. Kochi, March 21 - The box office is breathing fire again, this time in the most uncharted territory (with huge potential) of Indian cinema with superstar Mohanlal's Malayalam blockbuster L2: Empuraan. There can't be a happier moment for the overall Indian film industry than seeing the rise of the Mollywood which has unanimously been applauded as the content factory. ## Over the last few years, Indian cinema has witnessed box office mayhem, mostly in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil film industries. But no one in their wildest of dreams had thought that a Malayalam Pan India film would top all other industries. Well, Empuraan has done that, at least, in terms of selling the highest number of tickets in an hour before release. ## The advance booking of Empuraan was opened at 9 AM on March 21 and by 10:30 AM, it had started selling tickets at 96K/hour which is a record for an Indian film before the official release. Interestingly, the booking hasn't opened much outside the home state, Kerala, and it is a matter of time before it touches the 100K/hour trend which is no less than a red letter moment for the content-rich Mollywood. ## Malayalam cinema hasn't produced many big-ticket entertainers in the past and this is the first time it has made a Pan India film of this scale. Kochi, March 20 - Superstar Mohanlal's action thriller Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is re-writing history in its overseas pre-sales and is all set to start with a bang at the box office upon its worldwide release on March 27. ## The film is having a never-before-seen mass hysteria in the advance sales in the international market. With 6 days still left for the release, the opening day pre-sales of the film has crossed the 15 crore mark, which is already a record for a Malayalam title overseas. ## The worldwide bookings have crossed 12 crores gross, even without the regular bookings in the domestic market. Kochi, March 15 - After weeks of suspense and uncertainty, one of the biggest Malayalam films, superstar Mohanlal-fronted action thriller Empuraan is set to storm the big screen on March 27, as originally scheduled in multiple languages.## As reported earlier, there was uncertainty over the release date of the film due to the internal tussle between Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions. It was reported that Aashirvad wanted the other studio to exit the film on its terms but Lyca disagreed for the same. ## Now, as per the latest development, Gokulam Gopalan of Sree Gokulam Movies has stepped in to solve the issue and it is said that the studio has replaced Lyca as it has paid the required amount to get all the rights from the Tamil production house. ## Meanwhile, the upcoming posters of Empuraan will still reportedly feature Lyca. The movie is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran who also plays a key role in it alongside a massive ensemble cast.## Meanwhile, the makers have completed censorship formalities and as per reports, Empuraan has been censored with a U/A certificate with an approved runtime of 3 hours by The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), as one of the longest Malayalam films of all time. ## The film has reportedly been passed with 8 cuts, including the violent scenes and dialogues. Kochi, August 17 - Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's long-awaited fantasy film Barroz has once again been postponed from September 12 and is now to be released on October 3rd during the Gandhi Jayanti weekend. ## Directed and headlined by Mohanlal, the movie is based on the novel Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure by Jijo Punnoose. On Saturday (August 17), Mohanlal took to social media to announce the new release date. It will be the actor's next release since Malaikottai Vaaliban in January this year.## Produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, Barroz has been in the making since 2021. The movie was initially planned for a March 2023 release before it was postponed to Onam 2023. Kochi, June 21 - Malayalam superstar Mammootty will have to wait a little longer to score his first 100 crores worldwide grosser as his action-comedy Turbo, which looked promising early on, will finish well below the 100 crores mark but has done enough to earn the hit status. ## Directed by Vysakh, Turbo has grossed an estimated 71.50+ crores at the worldwide box office in 4 weeks (29 days). In India, the movie has minted 39.50+ crores gross while the overseas collection is around 32 crores.## Turbo started on a promising note, grossing over 7 crores on opening day and 21+ crores gross in the 4-day first weekend in India. The movie finished its first full week with 29+ crores gross in India and 57.50+ crores worldwide. After the first week, Turbo looked like it would touch the 100 crores mark but mixed reviews and word of mouth came to dent its chances. ## The movie dropped heavily in the second week (-74%) and couldn't recover from this as it is now nearing its box office run after grossing just 70 lakh in the 4th week in India. Worldwide, the movie is heading towards finishing around 73 crores gross. ## Turbo is currently the 7th highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2024 and it will finish with the same position for now.
