Sony Confirms 'Venom 3' To Be The Last Film In The Franchise

Mumbai, May 18 - Tom Hardy-led superhero film Venom - The Last Dance is set to bring curtains to the three-part franchise, Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman confirmed to the Deadline. ## Directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom 3 is intended to be the fifth film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) and the sequel to Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). It will conclude the Venom franchise which Tom Rothman believes is going to be huge. ## Venom 3 was more or less confirmed to be the final movie in the franchise when the title was announced last year and the mixed success of Sony's Spider-Man Universe is also reportedly a major reason for the studio to move on from the SSU. ## Meanwhile, the first two Venom films were box office successes despite the mixed reviews. The first movie was a big success with over $850 million worldwide while the second film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage made over $500 million during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kochi, May 17 - Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph's comedy-drama Guruvayoorambala Nadayil scored the fourth biggest opening at the worldwide box office for a Malayalam movie of 2024 with over 8 crores gross collection. ## The Vipin Das's directorial movie grossed approximately 8.15 crores, including approximately 4.40 crores gross in India and 3.75 crores gross overseas collection. It is the second biggest opening for Prithviraj Sukumaran's career, behind Aadujeevitham which was released earlier this year. ## The opening of 8.15 crores gross of Guruvayoorambala Nadayil is the 4th biggest for a Malayalam title of 2024, behind Aadujeevitham (16 crores), Malaikottai Vaaliban (12.15 crores), and Aavesham (10.50 crores). The two of the three aforementioned films (except Vaaliban) went on to gross over 150 crores worldwide and are one of the biggest Malayalam blockbusters.## The word of mouth for Guruvayoorambala Nadayil is super positive and it is already coming into effect on the second with superb hold all over. Los Angeles, May 17 - Marvel Studios' highly-awaited Deadpool and Wolverine is set to be the longest film in the franchise upon its official entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As said before, it will be the first R-rated movie to be released by Disney. ## Starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively, the third instalment clocked a runtime of 2 hours and 7 minutes, as per AMC Theaters, making it the first Deadpool movie to hit a runtime of over 2 hours. ## This would make the threequel the longest Deadpool movie in the franchise, beating 2016's Deadpool which clocked in at 108 minutes (1 hour, 48 minutes) and 2018's Deadpool 2 which ran for 119 minutes (1 hour, 59 minutes). ## Among the MCU films in the Multiverse Saga, Deadpool 3 is the 7th longest-running film, ahead of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) and behind 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.## Directed by Shawn Levy, Deadpool 3 is intended to be the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and a sequel to Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018). Kochi, May 16 - Malayalam cinema is unstoppable in 2024 with back-to-back big successes and the latest to join this race is Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph's comedy-drama Guruvayoorambala Nadayil which has taken a very good start at the domestic box office. ## Directed by Vipin Das, Guruvayoorambala Nadayil has taken the opening of 4+ crores gross in India, one of the biggest openings for a Malayalam title of the year. It has taken a bigger opening than Manjummel Boys which is currently the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time at the domestic and worldwide box office. ## At the Kerala box office, Guruvayoorambala Nadayil is estimated to open around 3.50 crores gross and it could go higher when the final collection comes. The movie was a huge box office success and Anirudh's BGM got high praise among the mass audiences. ## According to the latest report by Pinkvilla, Anirudh is set to reunite with SRK for his next film titled King. To be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, King will mark SRK's daughter Suhana Khan's big-screen debut. ## "King is a one of its kind action thriller, that will introduce a new flavour of action to the audience. Shah Rukh Khan, Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh understand the importance of BGM for a film in this space and have roped in the best in business – Anirudh", says the report. ## King is produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix. The movie scored 3.2 million views in its opening weekend on Netflix and allied to the second week, the total viewership reached 9.8 million views in 10 days. ## Shaitaan was the second most-watched non-English film worldwide during the week of May 6 - May 12 on Netflix. It is currently trending in the top 10 in 26 countries, including number 1 India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, UAE, Bahrain, Pakistan, Maldives, Oman, Bangladesh, and Mauritius. ## Aamir Khan's production venture, Laapata Ladies continued to be in the top 5 most watched non-Engish titles on Netflix for the third consecutive week. Mumbai, May 15 - Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar: Season 1 didn't show any improvement in the viewership in its first full week after the underwhelming 5-day opening weekend viewership. ## The period drama show, which started streaming on May 1st, scored 4.5 million views in its opening weekend (April 29 - May 5) which was underwhelming given the massive budget of over 200 crores. With not-so-encouraging reviews and audience reception, the viewership dipped in the second week.## In the week of May 6 - May 12, Heeramandi scored 4 million views, pushing its total viewership to 8.5 million views and 62.3 million viewing hours in 12 days. The show, however, continued to remain the second most-watched non-English series on Netflix for the second week in a row. ## The series is trending in the top 10 in 32 countries in its second week. It is currently the number-one show in India, along with UAE, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Oman, Pakistan, Bahrain, Morocco, Mauritius, Maldives, Pakistan, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bangladesh. ## The series is about the lives of tawaifs in the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj. Chennai, May 13 - Actor and filmmaker Sundar C's Aranmanai 4 has become the third Tamil movie of 2024 to top 50 crores gross collection at the Indian box office after Dhanush's Captain Miller and Sivakarthikeyan's Ayalaan. ## Starring Tamannah Bhatia and Raashii Khanna in the leading roles, the 4th instalment of the horror-comedy franchise minted approximately 49.30 crores gross in India through the second weekend and on its 11th day (2nd Monday), it has topped the 50 crores gross mark. ## The Tamil version of the film has contributed approximately 45 crores gross while the Telugu version scored around 4.30 crores gross in 10 days so far. The movie is likely to become the highest-grossing Tamil title of the year by crossing Ayalaan (58.75 crores approx.) and Captain Miller (58 crores approx.)## It has been a much-needed success for Kollywood which was going through a dry phase in the absence of big star films. Mumbai, May 13 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's supernatural thriller Shaitaan has almost done with its theatrical run but not before emerging as a big box office success in India and worldwide. The movie has now been made available to stream online, after 8 weeks of theatrical run. ## Directed by Vikas Bahl, Shaitaan minted approximately 50 lakh in its 9th week (the first week after the OTT release) and it dropped further in the 10th weekend for just around 8 lakh net collection. Nonetheless, the movie has done more than it was once projected with a net collection of close to 150 crores. ## At the end of its 10th weekend, Shaitaan scored approximately 148 crores net (176 crores gross) which will more or less be its final total at the domestic box office. It is currently the second highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year domestically after Hrithik Roshan's Fighter. ## Overseas, the movie has grossed an estimated 37.50 crores, for worldwide approximately 213.50 crores gross. Again, it is the second highest-grossing Bollywood title of 2024 after Fighter which grossed over 350 crores worldwide. Mumbai, May 12 - Disney's Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes opened on the projected lines at the worldwide box office with a strong $131 million in its first 5-day weekend. ## At the domestic (North America) box office, the fourth instalment in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise grossed a solid $58.5 million (488 crores) over a 3-day weekend. The movie's opening is the second biggest in the rebooted franchise, behind only Dawn of the Planet of the Apes which opened to $72 million. ## While the domestic opening of Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes was slightly higher than the projection, the overseas collection of the movie fell a little short of the projection but was still solid with $72.7 million (607 crores) over the 5-day weekend, for $131.2 million (1095 crores) global start.## China was once again the biggest international market for the movie with $11.6 million, followed by France ($7.6M), and Mexico with $6.4 million. Mumbai, May 11 - Disney's science fiction actioner Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has had a good start at the Indian box office, taking a bigger opening than its predecessor, War For The Planet Of The Apes back in 2017. ## Directed by Wes Ball, the fourth instalment in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise scored approximately 3.75+ crores gross (3.15 crores net) opening in India. The previous film in the franchise took the opening of around 3 crores gross collection. ## Meanwhile, at the domestic (North America) box office, the film is looking at $21 million -$22 million on Friday opening day, which also includes $6.6 million on Thursday previews. The previews for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes are the biggest in the franchise. A Follow Up To Godzilla x Kong Film Is Officially In Development

Mumbai, May 11 - In the wake of the mega box office success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, a new film in the MonsterVerse has officially been tapped at Legendary/Warner Bros. Studios, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.## According to THR, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings screenwriter Dave Callaham has been roped in to write the script for Godzilla x Kong's follow-up. Director Adam Wingard is expected to return at the next film in the series, however, the filmmaker has no deal at this stage. ## Godzilla x Kong, which was released in March, has performed excellently at the worldwide box office. The movie has grossed close to $550 million globally, including $190 million at the domestic (North America) box office.
