Sony Confirms 'Venom 3' To Be The Last Film In The Franchise
Mumbai, May 18 - Tom Hardy-led superhero film Venom - The Last Dance is set to bring curtains to the three-part franchise, Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman confirmed to the Deadline. ## Directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom 3 is intended to be the fifth film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) and the sequel to Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). It will conclude the Venom franchise which Tom Rothman believes is going to be huge. ## Venom 3 was more or less confirmed to be the final movie in the franchise when the title was announced last year and the mixed success of Sony's Spider-Man Universe is also reportedly a major reason for the studio to move on from the SSU. ## Meanwhile, the first two Venom films were box office successes despite the mixed reviews. The first movie was a big success with over $850 million worldwide while the second film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage made over $500 million during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the failure of Morbius and Madame Web, which combined grossed $267 million, put a dent in the SSU. ## Venom - The Last Dance is scheduled to be released on October 25, 2024. ## Stay tuned...
